  1. yep, that would be my option over the Tempus but from what I've seen the dial color. markers and hands are not very close to the gen. I haven't seen a good comparison thread yet. The Tempus is a very limited run (only 50) so it's unlikely anyone will see a gen around. I have a tendency to get limited editions.
  2. The lab told me beginning of Apr. So I sent them an email on 01/04 and I'm still waiting for the reply. It should be almost done (I'm running impatient as well).
  3. Folks, with my crystals coming at any time I started thinking what other HBB model I would like to own and I'm pretty set on the Tempus now. There are 2 options out there High beat - Wrong caseback, wrong gold color 2, completely wrong movement - expensive Low beat - Still wrong caseback but easier to mod, wrong gold color 2, wrong date wheel color, wrong movement - less expensive Here are the mods I'm considering: - Gen ETA 7750 with silver screws - Re-platting 2 with right gold color - Fix DW if low beat (I have a replacement black on white that I can use to match the dial color) The price difference is around $200 for those 2 models. So the question is, considering I will get a gen ETA would it matter which one I get? Or should I just scrape this project and go with the Full Black Ceramic?
  4. I wouldn't since getting the gen AR is hard too. If you don't mind me asking what kind of auto build are you doing?
  5. this is very funny. It was actually believable to the point that I could see myself in his shoes until you go to the guns part since Target doesn't sell them. Change it to Wal-mart and you are good to go
  6. I have the gen, the franken (with dial and hands) and of course the old dial/hands from the UPO. I'm not sure what was your source but the the lume on the rep hands pale in comparison imho. Also the tip of the seconds hands is orange/red not pure red like the rep. The hands are probably the cheapest of everything you have done there. Since you have to remove the hands to replace the dial that's usually something that most people do.
  7. I wouldn't bother. The OEM is a little darker but only noticeable if you have 2 side by side. Even the AD where I bought my PO told me to get the PO with bracelet and buy the aftermarket rubber.
  8. question: why not get the hands as well? they are cheap enough and the lume makes a huge difference.
  9. great advice. Warnings like this are always good reminders for all.
  10. spectacular new gens, there were a few at Baselworld 2010 but nothing we will see repped I agree with you, we have enough good reps out there. Nobody will get bored for a while.
  11. Be patient. The CNY ended in the beginning of March and I'm sure the factories and dealers are just getting ready for the new releases. Let's see what April will bring.
  12. I'm considering replacing my 7750 with a 7753 for my MB Chrono. I'm wondering if the case will fit (with the pusher at 10, dial,etc.). Does anybody have experience with this kind of movement replacement?
  13. yep, they are suppose to be the hour and minute counters respectively. You need to let the chrono run for a few minutes to see the 3 o'clock moving and of course the 6 o'clock will barely do anything (who times hours anyway).
  14. Are you sure you are looking for spring bars? The AP ROO uses short screws and the strap/bracelet mounting varies. APBands.com sells the screws. I have never heard of spring bars for ROO though.
  15. nice find. I wasn't aware of this one. thanks for sharing.
  16. W, Very nice choices. I also spend a couple of week in the Islands but my time this year is in June. Since I don't plan to be anywhere away from water I'm taking a few dive and swim watches only. A gen PO would be my jack of all trades.
  17. Pete, The main difference with the gen is the backplate. The gen shows the movement gears and screws thru the cut outs in the dial. Some folks have been successful modding that but it's not a simple project. The overall quality is great though. It's a very nice buy.
  18. Pete, That looks like the Rubens Barrichello one. http://www.perfect-hour.com/ap00116-ruben-baracello-limited-ssru-white-a7750-p-4900.html
  19. The Ghost in LNIB should go for something between $7300-$8000. That one is clearly not even close to LNIB. Probably someone's daily beater. The price is low now but with 8 days to go I'm sure it will go up. The strange part is the ad doesn't say if it comes with box(es) and papers. You might want to inquire about them and the history of this watch. To restore that case to a mirror finish will take more then cape cod and elbow grease. There are lot of dings there. I would suggest 1000/2000 grit sandpaper, diamond paste and a dremel for that kind of work. As an alternative a trip to the service center would not be a bad idea. In addition to the case refinish they can check the movement, service it, etc.
  20. The VC Overseas is a good rep but it needs work no matter what version you get. AR and lume are a must. Gen parts (like dial) would be better. Also some work on the bracelet. The PP Nautilus with the closed caseback is excellent. Any PP with a display caseback would be an issue. Rolex 16600 I agree with deniz21. bk wm9 would be the way to go for a gen like. The others I have not seen in person. The AP ROO Black Themes is very gen like. I have not heard great things about the ROs though. Contrary to popular belief the UPO is not that gen like (I have a franken and a gen). It needs a much better AR and at least lume. Gen dial/hands/crystal is preferred.
  21. A Smart is cool A Mini is pretty A Lambo is sexy I would agree with Gran that it would fall in the exciting category. Some things are pleasant to look at but not coveted. A sexy thing would be something that cause some kind of stimulus no matter how many times you look at it. Somehow this image comes to mind
  22. hike, sorry about that. I don't know what I was thinking
