  1. thanks for all the input. I've been thru FCO a few times too and never thought about it. I'm just wondering if I bring say my franken Pam005 (which is indistinguishable from a gen) if I'd get any grief since it's a PAM. As for bag handlers, I'd never check a watch. All expensive items always travel with my carry on.
  2. Safe? I hear they are very strict with it. I'm thinking about bringing a couple (including a PAM) but I'm not sure given the horror stories I've heard. Does anybody have experience bringing gen watches thru Rome airport customs?
  3. Santos (gen dial, movement, strap, crown and hands) UPO (gen dial, hands and crystal) Two Overseas (gen dials, modded crowns) PAM005 (gen dial, hands, crown) PAM 111 (gen dial, hands, movement) PAM156 (oem hands, moded cp) PAM177 (oem dial)
  4. Details here http://www.rwg.cc/to...e__hl__overseas Both the black and white are awesome. Very different vibes though.
  5. no improvement in the back. The gen is awesome. I'm very happy with my franken. VC also hold their value well.
  6. DW is still incorrect. The bevel is too pronounced. Can you post a caseback pic?
  7. No, the old style has that white square instead of 0. Only 1,2 and 3 are valid numbers there.
  8. Agree interesting offer but I just don't care for the gen. The new style VCO in RG is much nicer.
  9. Gen. You can spot it a mile away. Do you know the "spot the differences" game with two pictures where you need to find what's not the same? Try it A few hints for your game: Position of the crown Position of the data window on the dial Depth of the date wheel Caseback (I won't tell what)
  10. There's a quick release button behind the lugs. You should have received a tool to push it. You will need a pin to push the strap bar out though (kind of a two hand job pain if you ask me). The He valve inside is very well built. I'm not really sure if it's functional though but I don't think it would have leaks with it. Unless you are a professional diver (staying inside a diving bell for hours or days) you don't need an He valve EVER.
  11. So 1) You were NOT SURE if you would like the bag but then asks "Please ship the bags a.s.a.p to me!". 2) You received the bag and surprise surprise a replica bag is not exactly like the one in the store but it's the exact same bag on the pics that Ken sent you. WOW, who would have guessed? 3) You send a PM to Ken on 08/08 complaining that the bag that match the pictures exactly and you were not sure does not meet you high standards 4) On 08/13 you decided to start this thread (mind you AFTER Ken said he had to shut down as his rep in China had a medical emergency) 5) No matter how much reassurance you received here you still went ahead and decided to start a PP dispute that could get Ken PP account locked, affecting everyone that wants to do business with him 5A) Now this is the funny part, you complained that Ken did not answer your "BUYERS REMORSE" PMs in a manner that you thought would be timely, but it's OK for you to cut communication because "I was away for a few days!". I'd say that's the icing on the cake. This case seems very simple. You wanted to pay a couple of hundred dollars for a $1500 bag and somehow got disappointed (I wonder if you ever saw the actual bag at that Prada store before even contacting Ken). Ken accommodated all your requests getting his rep to go and take a picture of the bag in normal daylight (which btw look exactly like I'd expect a Saffiano Prada bag to look like). Now you want to file a dispute to get your money back and screw Ken. To me that's a scammer. You entered in an agreement and now you unilaterally want to back out of it (even after Ken gave you a $50 undeserved credit because he's a nice guy). You can try to massage the truth here but honestly you should own this. Everybody has buyers remorse eventually. Real men know how to own it.
  12. the manufacturers have better things to do than do that. Believe me they are going after big fish.
  13. I think this whole thread shows that's not really the case, isn't it? so he's filing a PP dispute without returning the bag??? That's a scam.
  14. that's not what I said. IF they decide to look for the watch (all watches will show well in the xray), it will be suspicious if you decided to put it inside a shoe. Remember those are 2D images and if they find it out of place they will like to inspect closely. A watch when overlapped with another object could raise a flag. Try putting a watch in front of another electronic (like an ipad) to see how the xray person reacts.
  15. C4 glows like a xmas tree in the xray scans plus the detonator would also stand out.
  16. different styles, different watches. I just look like a snob, not suspicious.
  17. not sure what this would do since they will see it on xrays and it would only be a hassle to take the shoe, etc out of your bag just to put all of it back. Don't be too worried about it. Just act natural and in fact carry them in a very reasonable and accessible way. Trying to conceal things is the biggest red flag for any security person. I carry my gens and reps in travel cases, in the same bag as my macbook, ipad, etc (meaning close to me for protection). The most I had to do was to open one of them in Spain (I had 6 I guess). I did it very naturally, the guy just said "nice" or something like that and that was the end of it.
  18. The part that I find more disturbing about this is the fact they've opened the watch in some security backroom. If that was one of my gens I'd send them the bill for the service. If they have doubts about the watch they can confiscate until you prove whatever they are asking for. They cannot just open a watch to verify anything (at least I don't think they should be able to).
  19. I hope she has a speedy recovery and that the baby is OK.
  20. @PaneraiFan315 "unsatisifactory experience" is based on expectations and my point is expecting an answer just because someone is online during a weekend is unreasonable even with a large online store, let alone with a member of a watch forum. "I get the impression that KB's shutdown should be public knowledge". KB has a section here and the last post in that forum reads "short shut down". It's easy to find, just scroll down on the home page of RWG. I'm not dealing with KB at the moment and I was aware. Goes to the point that if you are going to buy something, learn to use your tools. "This may give the perception that this "business" is closely run by people who is looking to intimidate people from sharing their feedback" - I don't consider "hey this is my first buy, I have not idea how this works but I'll complaint publicly anyway" as feedback. It just makes all involved very mad. Quite frankly one of the reasons why I don't run projects anymore is this type of behavior. It's just not worth the hassle. your business conduct comment - One of the many reasons why KB has built such a reputation in this forum is because of his outstanding customer support (and believe me I would not have his patience). All I'm saying is that for people to join a forum, decide not to do due diligence and start complaining because there's no 24x7 support line to take care of their disappointments that cheap REPLICA items are not exactly what they thought will only make buyers and sellers frustrated. Trust me, getting educated in this business will make a noob's life a lot happier.
  21. Good people are out there. It's just hard to find them Good for you though.
  22. No, it suggests a long contribution to this forum and the experience to know that a PM not being answered over a weekend when KB has clearly stated he will be away (easy to check with a simple search function or just to go actually look in his section) does NOT mean "the line of communication went cold". All of us have been noobs once and we had to learn somehow. By just reading the forum is enough to know that making a PUBLIC complaint without merit is frown upon. It's fine to be a noob but if you don't understand how this business works I'd suggest to read, ask questions and learn before going around getting worked up about nothing. Don't go buy a bunch of items and freak out because you don't know how things work.
  23. Good one. I almost missed the pun before I remembered he had retired.
  24. Exactly. In the announcement he mentions that he has to deal with his life outside the forum and things would either stop or be slow. Since I've been thru the unforgiven process of supply parts to many members before, being online doesn't mean having the time to deal with certain requests. You are complaining about the quality/type of item you have received which means he has to go back, look at your order, see what his team in China received, track the shipment down, see what went wrong, etc etc. Only after all this due diligence he will be able to provide any useful information (unless all you require is "I'm looking into it"). I think people like Ken make this look too easy so folks think he's like Amazon or something. There was another thread about the Noob 127 where a member thinks it's absurd a rep factory does not have stock available at the time they want to buy. Like there's some kind of entitlement in the rep business. I think people need to wake up and smell the roses. Either you fork $2K for a Prada bag (or $17K for a 127 if you can find it) or stop complaining because an outstanding member has to take some time off to take care of his personal business.
  25. Tony at asian7750 is very reliable. Unless the dealers have a problem with certain factories they all get the same models. Check with him to make sure it's the same model. He always charges a lot less than PC. It all depends on how comfortable you are with a dealer. Many people like Josh and are willing to pay more for the same watch. I never had a problem with Tony.
