Beautiful. After having seen this one from a few days ago on King's site, I've not stopped thinking about it... *sigh* -

Gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous!

That depends. Afterall, it could have been one of those big ass-ripper farts with enough seismic output to register on a richter scale? Always possible...

R- You are killing me with these pics! I'm gonna have to get me one of them thar Blacksteels... Sooner rather than later! BTW... I rather fancy that strap. Very interesting look and nice to change the aesthetics up every once in a while. Looking good!!

TT- All the best to you and yours this Holiday season. It's interesting to reflect back on the past year; even more amazing to think how much ground we've covered over the past 4 - 5 years. I'm grateful for all the friendships that I've made here, and even though I'm sure I come across as a pompous ass most of the time, I'm hopeful that I'm able to help and contribute where I can. Happy Holidays, RWG. May all the best be blessed to all.

Great project, T! Arch, Kruz and I can attest to the sort of difficulty this kind of project demands, so much respect. Looking forward to seeing the finished product (and it may just be what the doctor ordered to rekindle the spark in vintage coronet divers for me). Cheers! R

Finally, a morning in which we didn't have a ton of things to get done, so I was afforded the opportunity to get out the camera with a macro lens to snap some pics. Won't waste much time with dialogue, so I'll let the pics do the talking... Been wearing this one for the past few days- Very comfortable to wear, and very understated with just the right amount of sparkle. T'is very nice, but I don't see this as being much of a daily wearer; rather, it's more of an occassional piece. I must say that the dial on this one has the most mesmerizing color and tone to it. Very difficult to capture in pics, but viewing in person at all different angles and lighting, I can attest that this one is really a stunner! Thanks for looking... Happy Holidays and sorry to cut short, but there's much to do today... Merry Christmas to all... R

After 7 months of waiting... My WM9 16622 YM is in my hands...
ubiquitous replied to ubiquitous's topic in The Rolex Area
Not the same. Bezel on the WM9 is much more precision cut at the teeth. Probably other differences as well, but I haven't examined too closely. The bezel, however was a pretty apparent difference. Paul's is similar, but not the same piece. -

B- Thanks much for the knd words! The dial is quite nice in it's own right- Great color, sparkle, the markers are all nicely finished and the fonts are very well done. No real complaints here I'm not sure I could do much better, as it's already pretty dang good. Heh... The big wait was because I purchased while the watch was still in it's development stages. i.e. I more or less bought and paid for the watch prior to having seen any sort of completed piece (only parts and pieces here and there as WM9 was working on fine tuning all the bits). The watch was officially signed off on in August and then they started rolling out with production and delivery to a number of other folks who had purchased and paid months before I did (some people paid into the project last December!). So, just recently, they've been working their way down the wait list, and I was lucky enough to get mine today S- I can't really comment on the weight; wish I had a scale that could dispell any doubts, but I can honestly say that it's not too terribly heavy. I do recall handling my former VP's gen, and noting that it really wasn't as heavy as I'd thought it would be; I suppose the difference in bezel/insert and dial only add up to a few grams difference over the same parts for, say a 16610 Sub. I'm not sure that the small difference in grams would be that noticable in hand. As for the DW- It's really not too bad. Looks better than the sample piece on WM9's website, but still slightly off. The 10 is well done; no big gaps between the numerals. @urabus and bk- I need to get some lume shots, but the lume is nice and bright! BK is absolutely right, BTW. Pre-orders will land WM9 projects in development for very reasonable prices. The only drawback is that you don't know what the final product will look like until it's done, though I can personally say that all of their final production pieces have been above and beyond top notch. In other words... Nothing to worry about with what you'll likely receive with a pre-order As for this piece... I didn't get a chance to take any other pics today- I'll try tomorrow morning/early afternoon and post them up here. I'm very pleased with this watch, and can honestly say that I don't have much in the way of mods planned for this one. Just a gen crown and possibly a gen 295C (though not necessary). Doesn't really need much else... Thanks all for the kind words! Much appreciated! Cheers, R -

Yeah... The marker looks slightly crooked. Just a fraction of a mm off, but enough to notice; with something so small, any slight margin of error is noticable. Not really sure that it bothers me a whole lot at the moment; not much I can do about it right now either. Perhaps after the Holidays I'll look into correcting it -

Some hurried and rushed pics just to get something up in the initial post. I'll try to take some better pics today when I have an opportunity to take my time. As for the watch itself- Very, very quality. Feels extremely gen-like and the bracelet is very well done with great SELs. Case is sumptuously polished, the dial looks amazing in person. Nice U shaped CGs, bezel feels great to turn with the uni-directional click. I've never really warmed up to the 16622 prior (gen and especially not the rep), but the WM9 has me feeling otherwise. I love it. And... Definitely worth the wait. -

The "Collection" watch vs. The "Personal" Watch
ubiquitous replied to RobbieG's topic in General Discussion
Robbie, For me, the answer is pretty simple- The one watch I would wear (if I only had one) is probably this one (no surprise): Followed by: The coronet was the brand that started it for me; a common story for several, no doubt. Like you, I've ventured away from the brand as my tastes evolved and changed but the more I experienced, the more I realised that Rolex has gained it's place in the world of horology for several reasons- Consistency in design, constant evolution that draws from the best attributes of function with balanced and oft times understated aesthetics, comfortable designs that are easy to wear and adjust and, as mentioned, a truly iconic nature that is instantly recognizable as a symbol of excellence. I suppose there is good reason why so many that start with Rolex come back to Rolex, no matter what happens in between -
Thanks, Big R! Hoping to see pics of your snowflake soon!! I have a feeling that it's gonna be a stunner! Especially in ZZ's hands!

Well, I admit- I did bargain down from $800. Still, even at that price, it would have been a good deal!

Interesting stuff, Dirk. That little 2678 made me do a double take Looks strangely out of place...

R- You are, without a doubt a true gent and a class act. All the best to you and yours... Cheers, R

I'd love to see the vintage Fifty Fathoms as well. For the original poster... I loved the vintage Seamaster300 so much, I ended up just buying a gen a few years back: An all original example, and a steal for the then price of $600.
