  1. Stay away from Ubi, he's a bad influence. After he and Lani got done with me I was no longer satisfied with an out-of-the-box rep... Pick something simple. I would do a Tudor as a first build - SURPRISE!! The gen dials are plentiful and reasonably priced, rep cases and bands are plentiful, no date wheel overlay to mess around with, and the gens use an ETA movement just like your Franken will have!
  2. Yeah, but my favorite was the little ol' lady demanding, "Where's the beef?", then after a silent pause, "I don't think there's anybody back there..." Seems I remember that turning her into practically an overnight sensation.
  3. I remember a thread the other day about franken "grades" and this ties in nicely. I think we can throw out super-franken, ultra-franken, and all the other xxxx-franken terms people use to hype their "best frankens" and just refer to a franken that can get no better as an "Ubi-Franken".
  4. DJ II? Sorry, but to me they just don't look right...
  5. M, I'm not even a small fan of PAMs but this I like!
  6. F, that a "self portrait" in the background? My Franken DJ for today...
  7. Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us...
  8. I need a nice hi-rez straight-on closeup of that case back with the engraving well defined...
  9. The Explorer's little cousin...
  10. R, drop dead georgeous! Thank you for letting me assist in this masterpiece!
  11. Haven't worn this for a while...
  12. Yes, but we must remember that you "vintigize" by placing your watches in the driveway and running over them with a truck for a few days!
  13. Hand pressers with "non-marring" tips. You might find some for sale in the "Tools and Parts" section...
  14. I can see where it might be a problem with AR coatings, but being a Rolex/Tudor person I don't have to worry about that!
  15. Some rubbing alcohols have scents and oils which don't do much for a streak-free cleaning. Windex is fine as you don't put it back together wet...
  16. Great job, Dizz! I don't know if this is your very first franken build but if it is you may very well never buy another "pure" rep. It is so much more satisfying to the soul to build 'em yourself!
  17. Gotta be a Tudor day - Date-Day, that is...
  18. My, you have been a busy little beaver!! Two great builds! The Jumbo Tudors are in a class by themselves. I think the current Datejust II size is a bit much but the 38mm just feels "good".
  19. Just received QC pics and a tracking number for mine!!! Now the fun begins...
  20. Et tu, Chi? Y'all are gonna bankrupt me... Looks fantastic, BUT I would expect/accept nothing less from you!
  21. The discrepancy may be due to currency conversion fees? Don't know why there would have been two separate debits, though...
  22. Thank you, Sir, you are a gentleman and scholar! That should dress it up nicely! My 2846 service is finished as soon as my Borel order gets here with the freakin spring I lost!! I always manage to let a spring get away from me on each one I service...
