  1. That Breit is one big chunky piece of steel, and a great looking watch ! The 42mm PO however I found too small, especially the dial, but the 45mm version is Just Right, size wise, but I can't wait until a new version comes out which I hope will correct the he valve placement give us a quality crystal, and thicken the markers to spec. ETA or CN.. whatever comes first... Thanks for the post...
  2. What a find..... I claim dibbs on the SD...She's not one to share her man with any other diver,... genuine or not !
  3. Whew ! Thanks... You Two ! We can finally separate at least one Asian 7750 that's a true value when compared to the price of Swiss. I still wonder however, if there lies further sub-divisions, that we can pinpoint, as to why some old model 7750s are running strong after at least a 1.5 years, while other's seem to die just after receipt. I know some of it, is due to lack of consumer knowledgability on watches in general, chronographs especially, and the Asian 7750 in particular. Does this make any old 7750 that has stood the test of time, another source of lower risk gems in the aftermarket forums, including non-chronograph models ? On the other side,...I wonder if we can do a swap out ? From old to new.. There has to be a few avenues of these available. Wouldn't it be great to be able to buy any multi-capability required watch you wanted, without concern to it's reliability or it's price ?
  4. Great Post The Zigmeister ! I wish more people would take the time to read your greatly detailed information regarding the watches we all love, and some love to hate. If they did, some of these rumors, which are passing as facts, resulting in some fine watches being dragged through the mire, would turn up less frequently, or be more quickly corrected. I do have one myself that I would like answered here if possible. Seems many dealers do not know or not telling if their movement are new or old... can you tell us from your experience, if not which dealers, which models seem to be holding the newer movt.s ? Thanks in advance !
  5. I'm I wrong in my digestion of this issue...? That main problem is not pp, but in having an open, unstructured forum where knowledge and acceptance of certain realities of the rep game, are not being suffeciently taught, or just plain ignored ? As of now, all that requires access to our connections, is a free e-mail address, and a quick posted question or link click. Anyone with a gripe can take the attitude that we all will go down, as equal compensation ..............to a lost watch. This is going to make safety concerns propell us towards membership only boards, where joining will require not only fees but agreements not to hurt the collective, which includes our dealers, craftsmen, watchmasters and last but not least our board. If such place existed, no one would have to worry about losing out.. we could have fund for such a thing,...as we have seen. When I look down and see how many members have not become what is politely called VIP.. {a better term should be Member,} I feel that we are all seeking something for nothing... an imbalance that can't roll much longer, too bottom heavy.
  6. Notice it I can... but it doesn't bother me in the slighest...a slight alteration of the angle and it's gone.. We all have to pick and choose our personal tolerated differences that are too often named 'flaws'.. { to me a flaw, is a crooked marker, or others related to QC,... } Other's like wrong dials i.e. Iwc Big Pilot, I term Inaccurate.. those I try my best to steer away from as well. However even in inaccuracies, If I were to allow this crystal issue to bother me,.. knowing that gen crystals will not fit most replicas...my collection would not be half a varied or enjoyable as it is.. thus I choose to ignore,.. Beautiful Gmt by the way.. I have one as well and love it .. just the way it is... !
  7. You chose the worst possible shot,.... I have my smp on right now and can see many more angles that though not 100% perfect,..still very much readable. As for 'dead giveaway",... To Whom ? Rep experts ? Are we our own worse enemy ?
  8. I actually like the magnifying effect,... makes it easier to see at a distance...& at an angle. Good thing too,...If I were to start rejecting watches for domed crystals some of my favorite watches would not be with me now.
  9. Oh yeah... I'd have to sell one of mine to put a down payment on it... She's sweeet ! Regarding domed lenses, I always figured them best for extreme side angles, like when driving for instance or working with your arm extended.
  10. Maybe,.. but I think the only thing holding prices down are our perceptions..
  11. I don't know about the reliability of them when running only a date function.. maybe someone can chime in ?
  12. I believe the difference is that the 21j movement must be modified to reach the seconds hand on pams, unlike the 7750. Modifications can and do cause problems later. The 7750 if relieved of the extra work is a perfect engine for them.
  13. Great Post Gran ! I have always known that Chinese movements of late have been fantastic ... my sons have tried their best to kill them without success for over two years. I think we had better snatch up as many of the models we want now. Once the perception of CN movements are raised, the prices will follow.
  14. Well glad you received your watch... I'm afraid to look at my crown... don't think I will... Just ordered a killer strap that I can't wait to put on her....
  15. This is the sort of thing that happens because we are open to anyone with a free e-mail address. Most never post, only lurk, plot and amuse themselves.. I for one wish that everyone would become vip so we could put blinds on the windows. I know I am going to start offering my trades to those that have made a commitment to our community. By the way how to you compare Richard Lawton's work with this happenstance ?
  16. Very Elegant choice,... that same watch tempted me strongly, if not for my Patek Chrono I would have to have it. Congrats ! EL is one of the best for sure !
  17. Contact EL.. he will reply,...he's busy but nice as Micky D....
  18. Great Story,.. I love it when I hear from the old pros ...
  19. Geeze Ryannon... did I apologize for all that ? If not.. .Hey,... I'm sorry ...and I will take a dozen .
  20. Correct,... my bad,.. hadn't my tea yet...
  21. 24/24 would be great,... try Hk-Tan..
  22. That depends upon your locale,... Here in the states,.. ems is preferred,.. at least by me..and pretty quick.. usually 4 days.
  23. Also never mention what you are purchasing when making your pp purchase....
  24. Quite like RA,... with the exception of this: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=2880
