Hublot Big Bang - Ceramic + Rose Gold version
Richard Tracy replied to TomRiddle's topic in Other Brands Area
Your's was the first post that made me even consider,.. if only for a moment ,.. the purchase of the Big Bang, which to this point I could not, for the life of me understand it's allure,.. -
Beautiful ! Especially love the strap !.... gotta look that one up ...

I'm kinda upset with this rep game right now......
Richard Tracy replied to cableguy's topic in General Discussion
Just for reference,...Genuines suffer from some of the same issues,...especially the date wheel problems. Here is a Patek, that I just dug up,.. I have seen much worse in gens but this photo was handy... -
Great Job ! You went where many are not prepared to go,.... at least not me,... Saved yourself alot of money,... congrats !
-
Regarding screws,.. Many replicas will suffer from the 'tight' problem, however I have found that as long as the quality of the steel is quality hard, then, as long as you have proper sized screw driver heads with handles that can be gripped properly, oil, and patience, you can get the job done. I resized, and removed the caseback on my Silix VCO, and if I can do it,.. anyone can...

That was my opinion as well, until I purchased a cheap one in the trading forum when I was bored one day, just to see what all the hype was about. I was very surprised ! Even that cheap one was beautiful ! I knew then that photos just don't do this watch justice,... it's one of those you have to hold, to wear to appreciate all the fine details that VC labored into the style of this gorgeous piece.. ! By the way,. Fantastic Review TeeJay !

Congrats Jeff !!!!.. Your collection is the envy of many I'm sure !!..

My screws took lubrication and the proper tools to get them out, but nothing that destroyed or damaged anything. I was however prepared for it, which made all the difference. Then again there is always the mall watch band people, who never seem to have trouble as long as you prep them and let them know that you want the band and screws to remain in top form.

It's about time ... ! There was a rep out in California once,... a guy at work had one, and it was pretty good,.. heavy with excellent QC and accuracy... The guy he brought it from however vanished,.. I guess he got pinched,... Looking forward to this one,... it's the Only FM that I find masculine enough wear,... -
I've come to end of collecting replicas...

Genuine watches also suffer from some of the same problems,.. Not to the degree of replicas, but compared to the cost difference, each imperfections bites much harder. -
What If You Have More Than One Replica Watch?
Richard Tracy replied to alant's topic in General Discussion
I tend to believe that longevity of anything,... is a balance between work & rest,.. -
I use tooth picks,.. in order not to scratch the band...

How much luck have you had with your reps?
Richard Tracy replied to predfan2001's topic in General Discussion
I have owned over 150,... and my stats are over 90%,... Maybe it's just luck, but I feel it's the laws of attraction,... One thing I know is that I am getting better as time goes by,.. Another, is that I don't judge a movement by it's origin,...or QC by it's 'collector' or price -
Fantastic Thread Gran !!! This is one to pass some quality time in,....
-
Nice find Gunnar,.. this watch could be repped today,.. and makes our alarm models without date not so far off in accuracy...

Jaeger LeCoultre : Master Compressor spirit for an inexpensive rep
Richard Tracy replied to Pix's topic in Other Brands Area
Never any problems as the markers are very white, against the dark background,.. and hands highly polished..which I think serves best in the absence of AR... Seems to me a white face would blend in with reflections....? Speaking of the markers,.. this watch has all night lume,.. one of the few which did out of the box..... I have owned three different models,.. and Narikaa's is by far the heaviest,..though it came with a rubber band that once removed showed the metal between the lugs needed refinishing.. which I did.. but man oh man it took me three days of dremel and polish to get it right as the metal was so dense... Turned out in the end though and in daily use, I don't have to worry about scratches as,.. it takes tools to damage the ultra hard finish.. My cheapest, most durable, and most reliable watch to date,... -
I agree,... beautiful watches and fine presentations...!

Jaeger LeCoultre : Master Compressor spirit for an inexpensive rep
Richard Tracy replied to Pix's topic in Other Brands Area
Memovox is my favorite daily beater,...the reliable alarm is very useful and it never misses a beat in time.. Besides the date function which you lose if you go for the alarm function,.. it's highly accurate and Narikaa's is heavy solid metal, measuring in at 41mm,... Compare to Gen... -
Let it go Steve,... they are just replicas, each good in their own ways,... What exactly those ways are however, are turning out to be different, as I have said, than photos can reveal... One thing for sure however is this model is a more logical choice with regards to money and time investments, weather you decide to wear it out of the box, or mod it to an accuracy that V2 can never match in areas related to what the common man will know or notice. This as happens in most replicas over time, and no sense arguing about it, as we can't turn back time or get back the cash & time we spent on previous purchases,.. best to just move with the flow... Some deal with it by accepting what they have, some sell their older versions and buy new, some mod in hopes that their model will remain the standard, {which is rarely the case} and some simply wait,... they wait for versions that correct the obvious flaws,.. which is logical, because let's face it,.. none will never be 100%,... as replicas will always be replicas...
