  1. That's a nice looking timepiece
  2. I have to agree with our Alaskan friend. I've got an old MBW1665 on my wrist and it was 'aged' artificially some years ago. It was never too convincing. Since then I have worn it and subjected it to - shall we say "natural abuse" and there is no doubt that the randomness of genuine dings and scrapes is a thing that can not be replicated. that, combined with natural wear from use is a priceless combination.
  3. Happy families! Shame about that ugly snowflake mofo lurking out of focus in the background (best place for it).
  4. On the plus side at least its got asymmetrical pushers
  5. Beautiful stuff.
  6. Brilliant stuff, as ever. Yet more fuel for my newly discovered big crown lust.
  7. Nice. Wear it well and enjoy. For the record it's not a Newman. Daytona world is complicated. Read read and read more.
  8. The best of the best. Something to be proud of. Now stop posting these infuriating pictures dammit, you really know how to hurt a guy.
  9. Oh Gawd, I'm falling in love with big crowns. You lot will be death of my bank account. Must resist, must resist...... That's a beauty btw 'Nook. As my wife would say I'm "well jell" which I believe in common parlance means exceedingly envious
  10. Lovely stuff! Wear it well - pardon my ignorance but can you give us further info on the bracelet? I've been looking for a decent rivetted rep for ages. Would you recommend that one?
  11. Nice one Nook! Jeez there's another watch to add to my 'to do' list. For the record I've had an eta 2846 in my DRSD1665 for seven years now and it's never missed a beat. In fact the watch as a whole is pretty indestructible I treat it with a suitable level of abuse and it just keeps on going exactly as a gen would do but at a fraction of the cost and I would like to suggest at a greater level of satisfaction. The piece you have created is a perfect workhorse and my advice is to treat it with utter abandon, the jobs I've found particularly helpful have been those of a building nature - lots of knocks and scrapes, also plumbing helps - confined spaces, wrenches and dirty water a great combination! Wear it well and in good health my friend and as ever watch out for them big brown beasties.
  12. I second the comment about using a NY bezel. You'll regret it if you don't.
  13. Hello, I am sorry for asking probably a stupidly noob question but I'm more often involved with vintage Rolex although I am the proud owner of a gen Speedmaster Pro. However, a good friend has a ladies Speedmaster (38mm) I think, and she wants a new strap (leather) but does not want to spend Omega money. Simple question - what do you experts recommend? I assume that the fancy Omega buckle means that you need a specific design strap to accomodate it? Hope this makes sense. Look forward to advices. Rep or quality aftermarket welcomed.
  14. shilling
  15. Looking good! Can't wait to see the results. If I may be so bold - given the price of the ingredients don't you think it would be worth spending a few $$ on a better crown? As you said that one is waaay over polished. Just my 2 cents.
  16. Got my dials today. Excellent work Whoopy, well done 1016 here we come!
  17. Cut your bloody finger nails
  18. Missed the boat! Damn. I'll have a couple when you do some more. Excellent work.
  19. Received my strap by the way - thanks Whoopy good luck with the dials all looking great.
  20. I bought an insert from him. It was different to the one pictured. Slimeball by name and by nature.
  21. Funny I should see this thread now because I have been giving bracelets for 1665's some thought. Now I don't want to throw a cat amongst the pigeons but my old school MBW1665 is held on my wrist with its original 7206 and I have to say I'm bloody impressed. It has worn in really nicely over the years and is silky smooth to the touch. I can't remember whose endlinks I'm using (rep 503 B's) but they fit snug as a bug and have genuine 2mm springbars. Overall I'm very happy with the bracelet and for the price (whatever that may be these days) I think it takes some beating.
  22. Great stuff, now where's the flat top 3's?
