  1. Quite right Nanuq. I am constantly amazed by the rep world's inability to get things right. And as for PAM's. Jeez give me a break! We're talking proper watches here
  2. Fantastic stuff! I wish you all the best with the builds, can't wait to see the resulting pieces.
  3. Now all you have to do is throw it in a bag of coins and put it through the washing machine and give it that nice beaten up look Seriously R that's a great piece, an object lesson in how to do it properly. Well done you should be justly proud. Beautiful.
  4. Well done on your purchase. I have bought pushers from both Ofrei and Cousins in the UK. I am told that the Ofrei ones are the same aftermarket ones that Rolex themselves use but can't confirm this. I know nothing about taking watches apart so can't help you there. One thing to mention, you say the watch has a V23 movement, if this was the case then the hour totaliser on the stop watch would not function. If it does on your watch then I'd investigate what movement you have actually got in there. Hope this helps. Good luck with the pushers etc.
  5. I bought a V72 donor watch off the 'bay about 2 months ago. Paid £525 for it, seemed a fair price at the time. Just to make you sick, a watch dealer friend of mine remembers when V72 movements (brand new and unused) were selling for £50 each. There were few takers, nobody wanted to buy manual wind chrono movements!
  6. Lovely looking piece. I Couldn't agree more with LHOOQ. Get yourself a gen folded link bracelet and a gen tube and crown and then, you will really have something.
  7. I admire your approach to this watch and feel that there is a new modder in the making. Congratulations on the work and all the best for the future.
  8. Never liked subs. With or without date. However, I have just seen the light! Wow! Fantastic. And another piece is added to my wish list. Well done LHOOQ and Chi for a great build. Kudos
  9. Very interesting. Thanks for taking the effort and sharing
  10. Great story, great watch, great thread. Land Rovers - one thing we Brits can be truly proud of, so what did we do? Sell it to the Germans
  11. Looks like it might be a stunner, can't wait to see more pics and specs.
  12. Check out a 1665 SD with a nato strap, for me it is a great combo. I have one but sorry, no pics. Ugh.
  13. Great watch, great story - but is it really a "she"? Surely such a tough old cookie is male?
  14. @ LHOOQ I have known him from childhhod. We have been friends for over 35 years. He was best man at my wedding. I didn't let it go to just anybody Thanks for your kind comments. Now.... on to building the next one aaaaaaarghh
  15. I have finally finished a project for a friend and thought you might be interested to see the results. The watch started out as an EE6263 with a black dial bought many moons ago from a fellow member. I immediately swapped the black for a silver dial and upgraded to a gen T21 crystal. The watch remained on my wrist for many a happy year until a good friend could contain himself no longer and insisted that I sell it to him. I refused. He persisted. I refused. He made me an offer I could not resist. I gave in but with one condition: that he complete the transformation and get a V72 to power the watch. He agreed. By now the watch was sporting a gen folded link bracelet. Lovely. My friend (who knew nothing about watches) scoured ebay and bagged himself a disgusting looking Milus divers watch from the '60's (I think) which had a decent looking V72 in it. I had a spare dial so all that was left to source was a handset. DW duly obliged and the whole lot went off to Domi for assembly. The movement has been serviced, the pushers are Ofrei, glass is gen as is the crown and tube. Sorry about the pictures but the watch is now on my very happy friends wrist. It really is a beauty.
  16. Excellent reading. Thanks for that. "Rolex buyers: one born every minute" Love it.
  17. I'm no expert on colours or replacements but one thing I look for on a 1665 is a flat top 3. It's just my preference of course and don't get me wrong I think the watch is fantastic and the work done really excellent. Wear it well.
  18. Great work, great watch. Well done. Still one glaring omission though. Datewheel?
  19. There is definitely somebody around here who offers an AR service. Is it Chieftang? Sorry can't quite remember.
  20. Great stuff! Nice looking watch and put together for next to nothing. Well done indeed. Yes the dial don't match the case but hell, who cares.
  21. OK, I'll hold my (slow)hand up, I'm not really saying he's rubbish and I'm sure Knopfler is good too in his own way it's just that - and this is purely my personal feeling - I find them both very boring. There I've said it. Shoot me down in flames if you like but I just do and that's that. In my opinion Dire Straits should be prescribed to anyone suffering from insomnia, just pop one of their tracks on the iPod and you'll be asleep in seconds. I can't play guitar and know nothing of its technicalities so am probably being laughed at by many (not the first time) but give me Jimmies Page or Hendrix any day of the week. Oh - here's someone else who is/was completely over rated and rubbish - Lawrence Olivier, but that's another subject. By the way wat44 I was pleased to see you like Roger Waters, am going to see 'The Wall' this summer - can't wait! No hard feelings meant to any fans and I hope you carry on enjoying the solo on Layla - even though Clapton didn't play it on the recording
  22. Just a guess but you probably think Mark Knopfler is good too?
