  1. Pardon my ignorance, but wouldn't the same vacuum that makes the seal a little better contribute to 'sucking' water IN if that (replica) seal is slightly flawed? edit: I see sssurfer beat me to it..
  2. I feel a bit guilty here.. I'm one of the guys who can read a post, find it interesting, nod or smile at it, and hen just move on the next tab I've opened after initially picking out the threads I want to read from "View New Post".. MAYBE TAB-BASED INTERNET BROWSERS ARE TO BLAME!? We should all go back to IE 6. ..seriously I will keep this in mind and try to give credit (or criticism) where credit (or criticism) is due.
  3. My deepest condolences for your tragic loss, Euno. 'The memory of him keeps a man alive forever.'
  4. ebay! that other site that had the deals.. ..in july. search for hamilton in the forum.
  5. Playing around with my camera trying to take panorama shots. Figured I'd show one of the carpenter's clutter. sorry for the size.. It looks ok in 1920x1200
  6. This test determines where you can be placed on an informal political diagram. I placed about where Mahatma Ghandi and Nelson Mandela would be.. How can I be a libertarian?! I don't know the first thing about books! The Political Compass
  7. Well then! A new season, new possibilities (for grief). I propose we use this thread for our ranting, crowing and whining about our teams and others for this season of CL. In case anybody wants to start a prize pool this year, we'll move it all to that thread and I'll be happy to support it and my beloved Arsenal. The draw: Group A- Liverpool, Porto, Marseille, and Besiktas Group B- Chelsea, Valencia, Schalke, and Rosenborg Group C- Madrid, Werder Bremen, Lazio, and Olympiakos Group D- Milan, Benfica, Celtic, and Shaktar Donetsk Group E- Barca, Lyon, Stuttgart, and Rangers Group F- Manchester Utd, Roma, Sporting, and Dynamo Kiev Group G- Inter, PSV, CSKA, and Fenerbache Group H- Arsenal, Sevilla, Steua Bucharest, and Slavia Prague First off I am pretty happy with Arsenal's draw this year.. Sevilla could be the worst team.. But those eastern european teams.. you just never know what they can do. Liverpool's group is interesting.. Knowing Besikta's fans are as passionate about their game as the Anfield bunch, I'm sure those games will be intense on and off the pitch. ..browsing the groups I'm confident we'll see all english teams go through, but the scots are facing the greatest challenges for 2nd place. (I don't follow Celtic and Rangers normally, so I really don't know how competitive they are.) Any thoughts on the new season?
  8. The auto-reply took its sweet little time to arrive. I've re-upgraded, and I am happy to contribute my little part. Thanks RWG! -Ape-
  9. I asked for the Seamaster Pro.. With a blue dial.. or other blue dial watches.. And I had NO idea what people meant when they said "SMP" and "PAM" or all the other abbreviations.. Patrick O'Brian's Dr. Maturin says something like 'The Sailor is an amicable fellow.. but sadly given to jargon.' I guess that applies to the WIS too.
  10. haha, I'll take that as a HINT (fine.. I'll upgrade when I get the auto-reply) Thanks for looking out for me, Ken
  11. I must admit.. I felt sick when I heard he was going.. And the feeling hung in there for 3-4 days.. With scenarios of relegation and worse (losing to Liverpool) playing before my tearfilled eyes.. And Wenger not buying ANYTHING made it even worse. But then a smiling croatian/brazilian made it all a little better. I have high hopes. BTW: Lehmann wants a transfer by the end of today, we do NOT need a 7 foot, 40 year old, grumpy and unstable-at-best german loitering backstage this season. Let's see how that plays out.
  12. Haha! Buncha jokers Thanks for the quick fix, admin. @Phoband: See, admin and I, we're part of a contradiction of terms; Norwegian Intelligence @DBR: since there's no emoticon for: little has changed, trusting our midfielders to score, and not doing so until the 88th minute.. I'll have to go with: @ Andreww: Just come straight out and say it.. you want the Timex Magnum Indiglo, huh? @Cornerstone: Any norwegian would know that fish.. It's a special breed of Norwegian Blue Trout.. Dog eaters! Bred in the late 80's to stem the population of dogs peeing in our drinking water. The fish is know for it's extremely quick digestion.. as you can see by that picture, the foot of the dog having already passed through its stomach.
  13. I agree about the pop ups and the fading-the-screen-to-make-you-concentrate-on-THIS-message and it's importance.. It's annoying, but I suppose there are ways of turning all the confirmation prompts off.. As for the admin thing, I had some issues trying to play Battlefield 2, but found out it was as easy as right-clicking the game icon and choose "run as administrator" or using properties->compatibility and set it to always run as administrator. I see many people online chose to uninstall and re-install as admin. ..I don't know if you can do this to all programs though. Anyway.. Even though I felt I knew XP very well, and it functioned good, I actually like Vista very much now, and will not go back to XP willingly. PS: a LOT of the people whining about Win XP is really having trouble with Internet Explorer.. You know? Error messages, untimely shutdowns of the browser, having to install all kinds of crap.. The whole O/S takes the blame for a buggy browser.. To the people who come to me I always suggest downloading and using Opera. ..it takes 4 minutes to get used to, but most people never look back.
  14. Yeah, I was a bit sceptical to Vista at first, as I have never touched a PC with it before I bought it myself. After using it for a week I am very much in favour of it.. If you have a system that can handle it right. I have the 32bit Vista Home Premium on 2GB RAM, so 4GB wouldn't do much for me, but I wonder if 3 GB would show windows performance to match the cost of that extra 2 GB-chip I'd have to buy. Doesn't your Win XP only register 2,94GB of RAM, Giorgio? BTW I read somewhere that the Core 2 Duo outperforms the first Core Duo with 20-30%.
  15. I have limited experience with AMD processors.. But I agree you should shoot for a Core 2 Duo if you are going for an intel machine. I just upgraded from a Dell with Core Duo to another Dell with Core 2 Duo, and the general performance difference is remarkable. (not a huge difference in clock speed either) If those two are the only PC's she can choose from, I'd go with the Toshiba, simply because of more RAM. ..Vista will probably run oh so slow on a 512MB specification if she has any plans of multitasking. I tried with 1GB in my laptop, and the performance monitor said I was using 42% of memory just idling with my antivirus and Vista up. ..this is easily mended by buying 2GB of dual channel RAM off ebay at around $80, though.
  16. Another great guide By-Tor! People new to replicas don't know how lucky they are to have these guides, informative and useful as usual. ..I've been watching 'Le Mans' again, and as much as I want a Monaco, I can't get myself to buy the available replicas. The genuine article will be the only way to go. Thanks!
  17. Happy birthday Ken! May there be many more!
  18. Saw him logged in on MSN 2-3 days ago I think, so I wouldn't worry too much. If he's alive he'll come through for you.
  19. It's funny how stuff works out.. A whole while ago jdkno had some suggestions on how I could partition the rooms better. I was against it back then, but now we've basically redrawn the whole interior of the house, opened it up a whole lot more and removed some walls. A lot of it very similar to what he suggested. So now it's a new round with the carpenters. IT'S ALL FUN!
  20. "All the women don johnsons"
  21. ..there are 29,636,130 people with a higher annual income than me, according to the richlist. ..I'm fine with that. But I'd still like the Ford GT.
  22. Metrosexual! Come now, not all, but most good-looking men have their sexuality questioned at one time or another. Beckham is fortunate enough to have his little affairs with maids and models plastered all over the tabloids. And not all planned photos are that fortunate either: Very brokeback mountain'esque Edit: Jesus.. Speaking of hairstyles.. I just noticed that's exactly how I had mine done today! .......
  23. My condolences, Narikaa. At 79, and from his generation, he's probably seen and experienced more than any of us ever will. "Memories keep men alive forever.."
  24. I could tell you some crazy stories about my cousin Espen.. ..like the one where he ended up next to Jimmy Carter on a plane from London to Norway, with Mr Carter's security guy between them. Espen got to talking with the guard who introduced Mr. Carter to Espen, thinking he'd be interested, Espen politely nodded to the old man, and continued being fascinated by the bodyguard job. Two days later, Espen is watching the Nobel-concert on TV, and Jimmy Carter enters the podium.. Espen leaps up and yells 'THAT'S THE GUY FROM THE PLANE!!' and addressing us: 'Who the hell is this guy?!' ..anyway.. he cracked the windshield of his BMW M635 with a fake Breitling trying to smack a fly.. ..in the middle of our 12 hour drive to Denmark.
  25. How long will it take for american boys to start imitating Beckham's hairstyles? We had hair salons in Norway with big posters of his latest 'do' in the window, and the young teens loved it. ..Don't underestimate the power of good marketing. The shirt sales alone will set records in the US. David Beckham has a special place in sports.. Cristiano Ronaldo is getting there, but there are not many athletes that can match Becks' status as a sports icon, at least not in Europe. As for Victoria Beckham, ..the reunion will be annoying.
