  1. I don't think that's really a valid point, as all of the forums are indexed (and cached) by the search engines. Meaning the information is not hidden at all, anyone can find it. For example: I posted a thread about a Tudor 7923 a while back. When searching for it on Google, RWG pops up as one of the first results and anyone can read about parts for a franken etc., even without being a member.
  2. Hi there guys, I'd like to hear your opinion on this idea of mine: I've been mingling around the forums for a few years now and I can honestly say, that I have amassed a fair amount of knowledge and understand the terminology. (most of it at least) That didn't happen over night however, it literally took me months (!) of surfing around the place to understand the "slang" and terminology and get a basic understanding of the matter. Especially at the beginning I was hopelessly lost. Now for those of us who don't have the time to spend are significantly handicapped among the rep community and as a result we've got never ending floods of the same questions about the simplest things. This is not only contra productive, but also not very nice for the new chaps, who are often snapped at and pointed at the search function. (which is good, but not a very efficient way to learn about things) Well, I thought, that's no good, so why not collect all the information in one place. No more tedious searching for old or lost threads. All the abbreviations and terminology in one large wiki, accesible to anyone. It would make browsing the forums easier for everyone. At lest that's what I think. I mean, everything else has a wiki, why not the replica world? (or have I missed something here?) If everybody just wrote down what he knew, we'd have a massive collection of information to which to point. So, what do you think? Would anybody be willing to contribute? Or is this not a good idea? Cheers, Tim P.S.: I would gladly start by donating webspace and a domain for the project and we could start today!
  3. you could use a decal I suppose, there're a few experts on here, maybe the could print one for you! cheers, tim
  4. porsche uses a slightly modified design, this was the original. doesn't eterna make the PD watches nowadays? (like iwc used to?)
  5. i think it looks rather cheap ... shiny subdials and that weird faux tourby thing which usually just screams rep. I could be wrong though, maybe this is the watch that all of the others are modelled after
  6. Thanks guys! I'll do a little reading on the subject. Maybe I was a bit over enthusiastic, thanks for bringing me down to earth! Cheers, Tim
  7. Hi guys, I've been offered a genuine AP Royal Oak two tone in the classic size. It's an older model with a grey dial and an automatic movement (2121?) The watch is pretty run down, def. needs rebrushing (which shouldn't be a problem, since there's hardly any polishing to be done.) The bracelet has a little stretch and the movement probably needs a service. Could an independant watchmaker service the movement? I'm a bit scared of AP's pricing for a full revision. The price is set at 1600€, is that a good deal? I've always liked the Royal Oak and this is probably my only chance to own a gen in near future. Also I was thinking it might look nice on a good leather strap. Let me know what you think, Cheers, Tim
  8. is that a skydweller there in the last row (middle)??? ahh, no it's not, just compared with the real thing. what model is it, does anyone know?
  9. I wonder what sort of occasion people would actually wear this to ... apart from a rap battle or a pimp get together
  10. I don't think there's a convincing model apart from the no longer produced SSD v2 (super seadweller) and that was far from perfect. Cheers, Tim
  11. surely the BK/WM9 Yachtmaster! although that's history now, unless you find a used one ...
  12. as far as I understand it, BK priorises returning customers. so he bought the watch to have better service for a future purchase! correct?
  13. seems kinda stupid. guess they're trying to make money with the name of the movement ...

    TC Submariner!

yup, lot's of bling but after seeing these, I'm no longer worried. If I should get bored, I'll switch to strap! (pics from therolexforums.com) Still, I feel I'm going to have to get a TC. Does anyone know how it compared to Sean's case? Cheers, Tim

    TC Submariner!

ahhh, the lego pic i remember the v2, is the tc that much better? i might need to get one :/ I have to say though, I haven't taken my BK WM9 YM off in weeks, now that is for sure the most "gen-like" rep I've seen.
  16. The first season of the wire is the best television show ever in my eyes. It's just absolutely perfect. I'm watching season 2 at the moment, not quite as perfect, but nevertheless a good show!
  17. servus! hast vll. ein paar bilder von deiner bronze "homage"? hört sich interessant an! gruß, tim
  18. i agree, the pearl looks very dodgy ...
  19. Hah! I now I can't get over the image floating in my head, of a grown man kneeling over his wife in the middle of the night, sporting a childish grin and pointing a rolex at her eyelids
  20. the ingy for example, if (!) you should be able to find the datewheel for it. not super, but (in)credible with little effort. maybe more so than superreps from other brands.
  21. well, according to the picture, apparently times hop does, are they trusted here?
  22. wow, didn't know they ever made a 16610 comex ... why don't you talk her into the 1680? much nicer imo
  23. rwg is full of krauts wird dir gefallen hier! gruß, tim
