  1. @ Pug--interesting. The only harrisa I've ever had was a Moroccan lentil soup. @ Fxr--absolutely. I've done the pub steak & guinness pie; loved it. Next up, a plowman's lunch. Excellent ideas to all--definitely keep 'em coming. Got tons of time to fill...
  2. I may be thin, but I am one hell of a serious foodie...and a fashionwhore. So don't worry about the cost for a phenomenal meal or good shopping; I just want something different & unique. I've already done the touristy [censored] to the nth over there, and am looking for a totally different trip. On an interesting note, a friend of my mother who used to work as a casting agent overseas, got us reservations at the famous Lahore (sp?) Indian/Pakistani place in Whitechapel, the same night the lovely Mrs. Helen Mirren is dining!
  3. Josh is developing a nuclear 16610 & 16610LV with first-strike capability. I plan on having The Zigmeister service it & freeze the sub-dial on the detonator.
  4. Staying near the Eiffel, then in Montmartre, for the end of August in about a week. Then in Hyde Park, London for a few days, then off to Bath & the west country for another week. Any suggestions as to some "unique" places to visit or eat? Not the usual touristy crap; definitely something interesting. Also, any shopping to spots to pick up a good quality rep? Thanks.
  5. Thread hijackers!!!
  6. Seriously considering getting one, but only being 5' 7" and thin, I don't want to wind up looking like I'm wearing a wall-clock on my wrist. Any wrist shots greatly appreciated, especially if you're around the same height. Thanks.
  7. Just buy whatever you've had your eye on that you've been afraid to burn the coin on. A gluttonous indulgence is good for the soul every once in a while (even if you overspend on it a bit). It's called "retail therapy". On a side note, I also like Corgi's idea. If I had my druthers, I'd buy an IWC Cousteau for the $370 and swap the movement with a swiss 7750. Beautiful.
  8. Grazie. Exactly. But an excellent start. And if you wish to see pics of the 16610 Sub and the 16610LV, I posted them here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=44409&hl=
  9. Invicta does as well--not sure if you swap the movements though.
  10. Try getting a SS presidential version. When it's polished up like a fiend with a Dremmel (or a Cape Cod, for that matter) you can get it close to the white-gold version of the DJ. They also come that way with diamond dials, diamond bezels, etc.
  11. As soon as it's modded, of course.
  12. Nice! When's it up for sale?
  13. The FG's (full gold models) can be spotted from a mile away.
  14. The CD & SMP are a must.
  15. If it's in your interest, it's probably best to start a simple project watch. Find a "perfect sub" case from Josh, or MBW. Then swap in a movement with a dial from a "newbmariner" (Silix, Andrew, etc.) and a bracelet of the same. Simple operations, honestly, and I think you'll wind up appreciating it more.
  16. I love how it censors "balancecock". Also makes me wonder how many of these have been slipped in over the past few months as "Swiss".
  17. nice DM reference.
  18. Nice. Which watch from which dealer?
  19. Note to newbs: DO NOT be stupid enough to stick an entire watch (or a movement) into one of these.
  20. Sounds like an impressive watch, but unless she earns like she can afford a $25,000 timepiece, might want to go with something a little less "bling". Just a thought. Plus, the full gold versions are usually always the wrong color. Oh; and don't forget how fast that gold will wear off. Whatever makes her happy, though! My girl prefers SS: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=14992&hl=
  21. Any updates? Thanks.
  22. Looks like a chemical reaction; the bezel varnish is separating from the insert. Unless she's spilled something like nail-polish remover (i.e. benzene, acetone, etc.) on it, it's probably the maker's mistake. Try writing the dealer. If he/she won't replace it, you might be able to simply swap the bezel out.
  23. Restore it? Hopefully just the movement. That aged patina is gorgeous.
  24. Just bought them here: https://www.watchmaterial.com/viewitem.asp?...eRange=0x999999 and here: https://www.watchmaterial.com/viewitem.asp?idProduct=1188 You can check the pics of them installed, here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=44409
