  1. Entire new insert w/ pearl. No question.
  2. That's the one. Excellent. Thanks again
  3. Someone recently posted a link to a webiste selling Sub bezel inserts (with good pearls) that I can't seem to find now. I believe it was "watch(something).com"--watchpiece.com or watchpart.com? Anyone know? Thanks.
  4. Rep or gen? Saw one on a wrist today and it was actually quite becoming. The blue was the more subdued shade of the SMP chrono.
  5. Actually, this is spot on to the Mont Blanc Nicolaus Copernicus--minus the nib & cap jewel: http://www.montblanc.com/67.php http://www.stylophilesonline.com/archive/jan03/05cop.htm But to anyone who knows anything about Mont Blanc, don't carry it unless you look like you've got 2k to spend on a ltd pen.
  6. I've noticed on the 7750s if the movement isn't situated perfectly--even off by 1/2 mm, the pushers won't engage the chrono properly. Have you popped the caseback with the movement screwed in place and running, to make sure the pushers are moving the parts as far as they're supposed to?
  7. I figured out why "The Zigmeister" is so precise. I'm normally not one to post personal information, but I found Rob's picture on Google:
  8. How the f*ck do you do that?! Almost looks machined!
  9. Nice. Hell of a long exposure on that first shot!
  10. Yes, avoid the PO chrono--screams fake from 100 yards away. Investigate pics of the gen on Google; you'll see.
  11. On a side note, I never opened the gen but the gen was off by around 4-5 seconds per day; because I've regulated my reps myself, the rep is actually off less than 2 seconds per day. My gen is also now sold, btw. Thinking about trying my luck with a gen 16610LV--I know after my first Sub being a complete piece of [censored] (it might have well been made by Land Rover...), I'm thinking about giving Rollie one last go. I also WP my reps myself & swim in them on almost a daily basis. I paid the AD for them to prove to me it was waterproof--they tried giving me the [censored] that it was "tested at the factory", etc, and because of which, they don't do this on their new models; I explained that it wasn't good enough as this was going in the drink immediately upon getting home. So having case-back openers & silicon grease, I don't sweat the rep aspect of WP'ing. Not taking into account the difference between Omega's 1164 and the Asian 7750, the chronographs on the reps function perfectly as expected, and the subdial secs @ 9 run just as smooth as the gen. Outwardly, the watch looks perfect, save for the issue of the link screws vs pins; the date font I can honestly give a care less about--easy fix. I've also ordered a gen bezel insert--I have a feeling it should fit near-perfect without modding. The gen's lume was spot-on in brilliance & shade, between the markers, hands, and pearl. The rep's stock pearl (as per usual) is slightly weaker than the hands & markers, but the brilliance of the lume on both SMP reps is a LOT better than expected, straight from the box. There's only a very minor difference in the lume's brilliance between the markers & hands. And in complete darkness, the stock rep lume is still visible and easy to tell time on 4-5 hours after being exposed. GEN: REP And in case there's anyone who didn't read my thread on this (rep) model's WP test, this model held solid at 10 ATMs in the lab, and has been to 100ft below multiple times. I'd wager to say that since the case's construction is damn near 1:1 spot on, this thing--if properly serviced--this thing might even keep up with the gen's depth. The rep's HEV even appears to have a fully functioning valve inside that you can depress & reset with a needle, but I've never swam in it unless the HEV valve was all the way out & cap screwed on tighter than Tom Thumb's ass. Also, the pushers on the rep cannot be used underwater like the gens can.
  12. Just received a new SMP chrono from Andrew--less than 5 days for delivery yet again. The date quit advancing on my old model (only via the stem's date position) when I replaced the crown--still advances fine at midnight by itself and by adjusting the time; go figure. Anyway, I popped the case-back of the new one to inspect the movement and regulate & waterproof it, and noticed the new decorated movements & rotors they're putting in them lately. Painted screws to look anodized too. Beautiful though--a nice unexpected change; I didn't know if anyone else had noticed this on the latest reps or not. Check it out: (Edited to add pics--gen box & bookset not included )
  13. There were no seat-belts in a '59. I'm not sure about German/UK automobiles, but my father was an avid collector of 60's classics & I believe American cars didn't start standard stocking seat belts until '65, and trucks until '68. Plus, people love to tout the older cars as being "tanks"; thicker steel, stronger body, etc. Which is true; but that's not want you want. You want the care to break apart easier; let the crumple zones & the unitized body absorb the inertia from the impact, not your body.
  14. These dealers have obvious contact (i.e. pictures) with the manufacturer, and are also members of these forums. Why is it like pulling phucking teeth just to get two parties to communicate and do the simplest damn corrections?...
  15. Aren't you supposed to beep when you back up like that?
  16. If he's the one making it, PLEASE relay the general consensus about the most glaring flaw to him. If something that easily fixable gets done before it's released, he could easily double his sales. Glaring flaws like this is what keeps the sales of every other modern SD out there so low. Edit: & thanks for the compliment Dudro
  17. Without the [censored]-crown I hope.
  18. I simply put "Birthday present:child's toy". I have no proof if that would prevent or provoke anyone to actually open a package but I've never had a problem, regardless of the country. Germany, China, Spain, Qatar, UK, etc.
  19. In the States, but I've gotten a package with reps about once a month for a year now--sometimes as many as 3 or 4 a month--never been pinched yet. Mind you, it's all luck of the draw with customs but it happens so rarely; to me I honestly don't give it a second thought.
  20. My gen came in the box set on the left. Were you looking to sell the other?
  21. The police show their face for posterity's sake, but there's nothing they can do about it on their level--that's all federal ball-busting territory. When I go to Canal St, there's a system among all the shop owners that when the cops start rolling down the block, a call goes out on the Nextel cell-phone/walkie-talkies & everyone closes the shutters to the stalls hocking fakes; the second they're gone, the shutters go back up. I know this because I was stuck in the back of one when it closed for 5 minutes. That would be the Chinese themselves.
  22. Personally, I wasn't saying that the gen didn't exist; I was saying I think that your particular dial (pictured) is a fake. The quality of that dial doesn't look like anything that would have ever passed Rolex QC. EDIT: Remove the dial from the movement & shoot the back of it. Does it look like brass & say the word "Singer"?
