  1. Be careful, the 1680 is totally addicting! This is my 5th one and they get increasingly expensive. This one has a Phong case and back with Clark bezel. All else is gen including a 1570 and silver date wheel. That’s why you have to be careful. $$$$$[emoji33] 1680 addiction can get very expensive! Still a nice gen whitey will set you back $10-12k so a franken at this level is still less than half that.
  2. Gen 702 is definitely a worthwhile upgrade! LifeTrekker yours is a great effort that can still be even better than it is. Keep refining it. Do the 702 next you will love it.
  3. One other replica insert you might look into that I didn’t see mentioned was from Jensen or Phong. Here are a couple of pics of one I have had for a while. It has heavy serifs on the numbers and the batons.
  4. Here are a few for your comparison study guys. This first is an insert that lives on my 1974 1680. It is the only one of the bunch that I have not acquired in an original factory blister pack with part number. I have often seen this referred to as a mid fat font insert but have no idea what MK number it is. The next three were all purchased in factory sealed boxes of the same part number. (B315-5513-1-A1) These are all gen inserts and you can see that there are 2 examples that have the flat vertical on the back of the 4 and two that come straight to a point. I guess it goes without saying that I prefer the flat top 4. Also I have purchased the same part number at times that has a thin font insert with no serifs! It can be like buying baseball cards. You never know exactly what’s in the package unless the seller gives you a good picture of the box and insert. Hope this helps...
  5. You guys may shout me down for this but I didn't want to shave my date disc on the chance I may install a real 3135 at some point. Plus its a perfect heavy serifed date wheel. In my watch the solution was to remove the jewel from the date track and it works perfect. I can always pop it back in if I want to revert to the rep date disc. Quick set works perfect now. 6. 737....series serial numbers are a well documented rep flag. This is a later Phong case and back. Movement and crown gen rest is rep. I have an earlier version again 737xxx serial except the one I have is not laser engraved. E' s are wrong on mine too... Still a nice watch just know what you have and enjoy it. I would have left the old dial and hands.... Sent from my SM-T587P using Tapatalk

  9. Hello, you are right Jensen is the man on the mid case. I just finished my 1959 square guard build a couple of weeks ago. Not inexpensive but a very convincing example of the gilt SCG 59. My recipe is as follows: Phong 1959 Square Crown guards case Phong Tudor engraved back Singaporean dial from the bay Decided against the 390 and installed a 2824 for ease of service. Onlinestorehk lollipop seconds Hour and minute hand from my parts drawer? Yuki 7206 rivet bracelet Aythaya 700 crown and tube Clark 5513 bezel assembly I believe a Clark T19 vintage (parts drawer again.)
  10. Amazingly beautiful Bob! We enjoyed this one here in the Smokies a few nights ago.
  11. I have the 7016 case set up with my gilt 7928 while I decide what to do with that dial. If anyone has a gen 7016 dial they will part with I could make this one right proper.
  12. Sure. This is up side. Gen parts include early 9411 dial, crown, branded swuss eta 2784, 93150 bracelet. Plexi is Sternkruz 25-125, Clark bezel, aged black to blue JK insert with ofrei pearl and the Phong 7021 case. I had it in the later 9411 case but ut was too new for the dial. I will have to take a few of the other. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
  13. @dvne Here are a few more pics for you. Mine have worn in nicely.
  14. His 7016 and 7021 have the older style case back. I have one of each. His 9411 is the newer case back style. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

  16. Hello Bob, hope things are well for you up in the great north!

I want to bring you in on something I have some concerns over.

last week I agreed to purchase a yuki rivet from this sale Bennykwa had up.

I and other friends have bought from him in the past and always great communication and quick shipping. I last pm'd with him on Monday and agreed to send him $180 gift and he was to ship on Wednesday. I sent funds and he never acknowledged them as he has in the past.

so fast forward to now. It's been a week and I have sent pm'd as well as email and received no responses. Certainly no tracking info either.

what would be your recommended course at this point?

    thank you for you help,

    Tim

  17. Yes, mine has a gen plexi and is a DW. RA has a way of fitting without changes to the Rehaut. You can also put thin metal tape all the way around the Rehaut to make up the space. It is very little space. The bezel also has to be opened up to fit over the plexi. I will send pics of mine when I get back in a bit.
  18. Minute hand looks great! I still need to shorten mine. Bezel is nicely refinished as well. Now all you need is gen date wheel and plexi and it is perfect! Super home plate there friend!
  19. Very interesting Benny. It is amazing how the wars in Europe have affected most every watch company's history. Not just in Germany but also Swiss, French and Italian. Every life has a story... Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
  20. Wasn't sure how I would feel about the absence of the CG's but you have pulled off and incredible build there Sir. Very impressive!
  21. Here are a few more fittment choices for the DW case. Gen 501b WSO 580 71n lower 71n upper I am leaning toward the 580 or the 71n. None are a perfect fit and can be irritating to get locked in. (Which makes me nervous about the security of what has became a very expensive build.) Think I will try to find a set if 589. Has anyone tried them yet?
  22. No someone before me did that. I bought them Cheap because of it. $50 Can't tell from the top and otherwise a good fit. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
  23. Lot of long earned wisdom in this post guys! Thanks for the info R good stuff! Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
  24. Yes good observation, that is exactly the value I calculated in the number above. 93150, 9315, 7836 all will run $600-800 but the way they feel on the wrist is worth it. I may have actually undervalued the watch head estimate as I only calculated 500 for the gen dial. They have been bringing crazy money lately! Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
