  1. Early Wednesday morning
  2. Even if both crowns are gens, there are multiple versions of Triplock crowns with varying dimensions. So even when replacing 1 gen crown for another (assuming differing versions) could result in an ill-fitting crown. By the way, there is no relation to the orientation of the coronet on the face of the crown & it proper fitment of either the crown or tube. Orientation of the coronet is mostly luck-of-the-draw (dependent on tube dimension/position, depth of tube in the case, length of stem, thickness/condition of gaskets, etc).
  3. Wrong. In fact, there was a thread on TZ discussing this a few months ago with a number of members admitting having sold Daydates for their scrap gold value.
  4. Yuki, NDT & Phong all sell 1665 cases to fit a 1575 movement. You will need to check each site for pricing/details (I used an MBW mid-case for my 1665, so I cannot provide any details of other aftermarket cases), but Yuki tends to be at the low end of pricing & Phong tends to be at the high end.
  5. Most likely that is a new/aftermarket dial.
  6. When I built my Phase I GMT, Silix was the only dealer that offered a Rolex rep (CG-less, Cartier Sub) whose case could be modified for my purposes. However, they are a good example of the old axiom of 'you get what you pay for' as their out-of-the-box Rolex reps tend to be fairly inaccurate. My only complaint was that they were extremely slow in shipping (or responding to my once/monthly inquiries) the 2 watches I got from them (each took nearly 3 months to arrive ).
  7. Ubi - I hope whatever you are dreading passes you by. Still wearing the same Sub (though now in solidarity)
  8. To me, a bit of age/patina/wear can be a bonus on a tool watch. But this, where the changes make time-telling difficult, is where I would draw the line. This is just a damaged dial.
  9. Yes (unless otherwise stated & independently verified), of course they are reps.
  10. Wearing this Sub today
  11. He has had that site for some time.
  12. Nice. It looks like you found a new source for the case I used for my perfect Daytona. Now if you can locate a source for the proper flat caseback
  13. Because the gold plating/flashing on reps is very thin, I would avoid polishing. Clean with non-abrasives only.
  14. The bids may have been placed by the seller. Fake is 1 thing, but fake so small that it cannot be seen without a microscope
  15. Interesting, but you must not have been looking very hard back then. ETA-powered Rolex reps were coming on the market in the late 80s. In fact, I did my 1st franken in the late 80s. Still keeping reasonable time today (with genuinely-aged tritium lume)
  16. Ubi - The best Pateks are those that, @ 1st glance, look completely innocuous & generic/utilitarian, but prompt an almost autonomic 2nd-look. Ending the work week wearing my CHS
  17. Yes, I compared the xtals in 1 of my early phase I 6542 threads.
  18. The 6542 was powered by a 10xx movement. The 1675 was powered by a 15xx movement. In addition to the date windows being located ~.5mm differently, the 6542 dial is pressed onto the pillar plate & the 1675 dial uses standard dial feet, so they are not interchangeable.
  19. If Rolex did service a 1675, they would almost certainly require the perspex insert & bezel to be changed to modern replacements. However, because the movements are different, a 6542 dial will not fit the 1675 (which is the type of dial in accio's watch). The hour/minute/seconds hands are interchangeable, but I am not sure about the 24-hour (gmt) hands?
  20. Spent the day lounging around the boob-tube wearing 1 of my Newmans
