  1. If you have a source for all of the GMT components, you can probably convert a 1675 over to GMT form. I posted a parts listing last year in 1 of the previous threads on this same subject. You might use the search feature.
  2. Short of trial-&-error, your best bet is to ask the seller if the case is made to gen specs. Then, of course, you have to rely on his honesty/knowledge. In my experience, ultimately, when fitting gen parts to aftermarket parts, it all still comes down to trial-&-error.
  3. It is just metal, so sandpaper, emory cloth, a dremel, etc can be used to remove engravings.
  4. I do not know Phong's pricing in this case, but it is always (too) high. What I can tell you is that, based on an inspection of 1 of Phong's watches along with my conversations with Ziggy (who has more experience with them than I have), I would recommend that you factor in the cost of a proper overhaul upon receipt of any pre-assembled Phong watch (or, in general, standard reps from any source). Many of Phong's parts look like they could have come from Rolex, but his watches look like they were put together by Polex, if you get my meaning.
  5. Unless someone else here has direct experience fitting movements other than what is specified, I would direct that type of question to Yuki. That said, I can tell you that both the 1520 & 1570 are based on the 1530 & all 3 calibers' measure 28.5mm x 5.75mm, so, in theory, they should be interchangeable in a properly proportioned case. However, I do not know if there are differences in stem & other component alignments.
  6. T17 fits the 6200/5510/6538 & the T19 fits the 5512/5513/5514 Subs (possibly others). In addition to the slight differences in diameter, I believe each lens has a slightly different curve.
  7. Some truly outstanding pics today, gents. Wearing 1 of my '42s today
  8. It looks like a standard (non-MBW) DRSD rep. Nice, but far from perfect & similar to the watch available from many rep sellers.
  9. That is the movement to use if you are building a mid-70s 5512.
  10. Rolex does not release that type of info, but I believe the 1530 was the 1st movement fitted (1959 until around 1962 or so). The 1560 was also used (more or less interchangeably with the 1530) until about the early-mid 1960s & I believe the 1570 was used from the mid-1960s until the end of the series (1978-ish).
  11. Yes. 5512 came with 1 of these - 1530, 1560 or 1570 (which movement depends on date of manufacture).
  12. Sorry to hear of the problems, but, as has been said dozens of times here, the movements in rep watches are used/unserviced & if you plan to keep your watch or need to rely on it, have the movement overhauled by a professional watchmaker upon receipt. Try Ziggy or search your local phone book for a rep-friendly watchmaker. Otherwise, it is just a matter of time.
  13. US only - No idea what Rolex does with them, but the policy for independent watchmakers with Rolex parts accounts is that all used parts are supposed to be kept & returned to Rolex. At least, that was the policy about 10 years ago & I strongly doubt that has changed.
  14. If it were not a gen site, I would ask them to remove it. But, all things considered, I would rather not make waves since they did give 'freddy' credit.
  15. Ditto.
  16. This is actually the 3rd or 4th time Jake has borrowed 1 of my pics. In general, I have no problem with the operators of gen sites posting my pics. What I do have a problem with is the missing watermark on this 1, which means that either someone located the original RWG post from about 3 years ago (before I began watermarking -- just for this reason) or someone spent a bit of time to remove it.
  17. Still wearing my 'Graph
  18. I will raise you 1. Now that I see both pics (until now, the 1st pic was not displaying for some reason), I do not think either is genuine. Good rule of thumb - when you see fuzzy, dark, distant, or shadowy pics in sale ads, run away.
  19. I agree with Nanuq. A beautiful crystal on a 1665, but not an early Sub. Overall, I think your watch looks excellent. I would get a more accurate crystal (Tropic 17 is the correct gen part if your case accepts a gen xtal or try Clarks on ebay for a good aftermarket) & gen or Yuki-style rivet bracelet (those striped straps looked good on Connery, but never quite right on anyone else), but I would not worry about your crown's missing .6mm (if you want, chalk it up to wear).
  20. And a straight?
  21. Wearing my 'Graph today
  22. Search out 'Mr. Slimeball'. In the meantime, get Clarks Superdome, which is nearly identical to the gen (although I have a NOS gen, the Clarks xtal is what I have on my watch)
  23. Definitely, not gen.
