Rolex does not release that type of info, but I believe the 1530 was the 1st movement fitted (1959 until around 1962 or so). The 1560 was also used (more or less interchangeably with the 1530) until about the early-mid 1960s & I believe the 1570 was used from the mid-1960s until the end of the series (1978-ish).
Sorry to hear of the problems, but, as has been said dozens of times here, the movements in rep watches are used/unserviced & if you plan to keep your watch or need to rely on it, have the movement overhauled by a professional watchmaker upon receipt. Try Ziggy or search your local phone book for a rep-friendly watchmaker. Otherwise, it is just a matter of time.
US only - No idea what Rolex does with them, but the policy for independent watchmakers with Rolex parts accounts is that all used parts are supposed to be kept & returned to Rolex. At least, that was the policy about 10 years ago & I strongly doubt that has changed.
If it were not a gen site, I would ask them to remove it. But, all things considered, I would rather not make waves since they did give 'freddy' credit.
This is actually the 3rd or 4th time Jake has borrowed 1 of my pics. In general, I have no problem with the operators of gen sites posting my pics. What I do have a problem with is the missing watermark on this 1, which means that either someone located the original RWG post from about 3 years ago (before I began watermarking -- just for this reason) or someone spent a bit of time to remove it.
I will raise you 1. Now that I see both pics (until now, the 1st pic was not displaying for some reason), I do not think either is genuine.
Good rule of thumb - when you see fuzzy, dark, distant, or shadowy pics in sale ads, run away.
I agree with Nanuq. A beautiful crystal on a 1665, but not an early Sub.
Overall, I think your watch looks excellent. I would get a more accurate crystal (Tropic 17 is the correct gen part if your case accepts a gen xtal or try Clarks on ebay for a good aftermarket) & gen or Yuki-style rivet bracelet (those striped straps looked good on Connery, but never quite right on anyone else), but I would not worry about your crown's missing .6mm (if you want, chalk it up to wear).
Search out 'Mr. Slimeball'.
In the meantime, get Clarks Superdome, which is nearly identical to the gen (although I have a NOS gen, the Clarks xtal is what I have on my watch)
Either insert is correct.
The big question is whether you want a red or silver triangle at 12 & if you want a lume dot or not (I have seen all of the above).
(Excuse the size, not my pic)
Click here or here. The quality of the work depends alot on whether you & the restorer are on the same page. With dial restorations, be clear, concise & detailed as to what you want done. Never assume anything.
The MBW insert is made to fit the OD of the crystal MBW uses. If you change the crystal, you should also change the insert. Either a gen (search ebay or the sale sections of gen forums) or PMWF 5513 insert are the way to go for an MBW 1665 (or Sub).
I think the weakest link is the dial, which is not bad. But if you are looking to improve the watch, I would start there. After that, swap in a gen movement & call it quits.
