  1. Fixed it for you.
  2. Thanks A! The more fun I have while wearing it, the closer it looks to a real 50 year old watch.
  3. Rolex and Zeppelin, does it get better than that?!
  4. The Big Gonzo on Easter morning
  5. Gents, it's one thing to have God's Own Springbars in your endlinks, but also consider the puny little springbar in the clasp itself. It's another potential point of failure. I used to wear my bands a little tighter, and I'd break springbars all the time. Now I got used to wearing them a little too loose and no more problems.
  6. The Athaya is a great replacement. I had Ziggy install it and we encountered some problems. It originally went onto a Silix case, whose side tapers in at the top (when viewed from the end of the lug). He had to drill the tube hole parallel to the case, not perpendicular to the side. This put the hole perilously close to the underside, where the caseback seals flat. It made a very minor protrusion but it still worked. On the Big Gonzo (MQ case) there was plenty of metal for it to fit correctly. It lived there until I could cough up the money for the gen crown.
  7. It should protrude, but maybe 1/2mm less than that. Is the tube still fully screwed into the case? Can you pull the stem and see if there's a monster o-ring inside the crown? It's actually not bad but the shape of the tube where it enters the crown makes it look too long. Here is Athaya's 8mm crown. It's a similar distance but shaped more accurate: A different angle: Here's a couple gens:
  8. Well said, Drop. I've had a Small Crown for decades and always scoffed at Big Crowns. Until I held one. Then I caught the bug. So I set about building one to be as believable as any of my gens. It cost a pretty penny but it was only about 10% the price of a gen. And luckily, the parts are in high demand ... this week. So this week I could get my money back if I parted it out. Next year??? Doubtful. But I intend to wear it for decades.
  9. Happy Easter gents, I'm honored to be part of this great place we call home.
  10. Hey drop top, I'm a little to your east this past week. Great weather we're having this Easter morning!
  11. Locking this one too. Happy Easter, all!
  12. I'm locking this topic and I edited out the URL from the original post. If someone is truly a bad workman their errors won't remain hidden. He wouldn't be able to hide here or elsewhere. So it is unnecessary to post a witch hunt here from another site. People here would already know about it and word of mouth would expose the guy. Leave the witch hunts to the kiddie fora and we'll continue to act like gentlemen and grownups here.
  13. Welcome aboard! There's a lot of old Daytona afficionados here too, so you're in good company. What part of the Pacific Northwest?
  14. Demsey? (Dare I say it...) Neo?
  15. FGD is back! Hey it's like old times around here. Nice seeing you!
  16. These are great points; well said, gents. I'm all in favor of helping noobs not get ripped off but lately I sense more and more threads that devolve into pissing contests that impugn the integrity of the seller. That's not how we operate here. In this place we share watch information and we try to raise the quality of the many discussions. We're better than ugly pissing matches. If I see something that's horrendously overpriced and there's someone trying to buy it who obviously has no clue what he's doing, I'll send a quick PM pointing him to a similar sale at a much fairer price, and suggest he exercise a little restraint. Nobody ever died because they missed out on a watch purchase. Let's watch each other's backs, and let's do it as gentlemen would.
  17. Paner *gag* ai?? That's it, you HAD to say that name didn't you?! welcome back anyway!
  18. Hah, I know what the Fox says. "Heeeeeeeere kitty kitty...."
  19. Slay my man! I thought you skewered TTK on his own petard, the last go-round.
