Yep this is why my 1030s only get worn on special occasions now.

Excellent! Thank you, looks like I can swing that regulating stud CW a smidgen to slow the bad boy down a bit.

I've been looking and there are other PAMs with the same case diameter but much prettier movements, also with swan neck regulators. Being a dyed-in-the-wool Rolex guy, and knowing excruciating minutiae about the beasts, it's a little painful to be a noob neophyte about PAMs. What is the ligne and stem height, what are the hand tube diameters? Will a 6497 fit a P.3000 case? Argh. I have to start all over again with a new brand.
-
Gents, I've recently picked up a PAM 604 with the P.3000 movement. It's running pretty fast so I did some research... several sites are saying it has a Swan Neck regulator. They also say it has Decorative Plates to look like a P.3000. The only regulator I see is the tab sticking out from the balance jewel holding the end of the hairspring. Looking closely I figured the hairspring approaches the tab from the right, so I turned the tab clockwise to lower tension and slow it down. It doesn't seem to make any difference in the rate. Is there another approach to regulating this?

Nice! I need those hands for my 6204 project.

Bart, you're absolutely right. It was a MY and looks really good. If you know what you're looking at it will drive you a little crazy because it's not quite perfect, but it's a darn good looking crystal. Very "vintage".

Amen, brother. My dad served and has congressional citations and a box full of medals, but still gets a faraway look in his eye and won't talk about it, but to thank God I didn't have to go. That's all he ever says about it. Sure wish I could take those memories away for him.
-
Bart, that thing is magnificent. I have one small suggestion: ditch that crystal for a dome. I can't remember what I put on the Frosty Flake, I believe it was a Clarks T19. It was about $60 and it looks very much like the T17 that's supposed to be on that 6538.

It makes much more of a statement than a Monte Carlo. Keep it vintage/funky.

Well said. Let's take it a step further: I think a lot of people got tired of being told what they can, and cannot say... being lectured to by the "enlightened" ones. You can't say someone is "black", now they're African-American. What's next, we can't call women "women"? Are they now Breasted-American? Who made those rules? And why do we "have to follow them"? So somebody doesn't get offended? Show me in the Constitution where it says we have the right to not be offended. That is not protected. Speech is. We Americans are an ornery lot, and tend to think for ourselves. If someone tells me I "can't say that!" guess what I'm going to say from morning to night, just to piss them off? Sure, it's crude to say something derogatory. So let the idiot that says it feel the pain of his stupidity, rather than inventing some "rule" and forcing it on the rest of us. Erecting sets of rules to enforce your preferred worldview does nothing but expose you as a control freak, and people won't grow and learn from that... they just get bitter. In the end, enough people were fed up with "political correctness" that they voted for the man that refuses to be "politically correct". Didn't the Left used to call that "speaking truth to power"? A closing thought: people are speculating there were a LOT of "closet" Trump supporters that didn't talk about it. But they did vote. Why was that? Why didn't they talk about it? Because they would be excoriated for the way they think. Think about that for a minute. Since when did we let thought control creep into the common vernacular? Since when did it become acceptable for people to be publicly ridiculed for their opinions? Since when did "we, the people" give that level of control over our lives to someone else? This turned out to be an election about personal choice, personal freedom and personal consequences. If you're going to act like an ass, then you'll feel the sting and learn to not be an ass. If you're going to risk doing great things, it's on you. Hope you succeed. But it's self regulation, not regulation imposed by others ... and that is what leads to maturity. That is why the Gadsden flag was created. DON'T TREAD ON ME. It's the spirit of independence.

Daaannnnnngggg Bart. What a beauty!!!

Talk about unintended consequences, I think a lot of people gleefully grabbed onto the mantle of "Deplorable" during this election. It was a strange word, almost cartoonish, and it became a rallying cry for many. Who would have seen that coming? Certainly not a bunch of dumb rednecks!

https://www.greatagain.gov/ He's got a website up now, starting the process of "identifying and recruiting the finest men and women from across the country to serve in [his] administration". He's looking for 4,000 people... "Any individual who wishes to serve the Administration should utilize this online application in order to participate." He's also taking suggestions from We, the People for positive change. Nice step in a positive direction.

Thanks demax, we pride ourselves on remembering our humanity before our differences. This day is call'd the feast of Crispian. He that outlives this day, and comes safe home, Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam'd, And rouse him at the name of Crispian. He that shall live this day, and see old age, Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours, And say "To-morrow is Saint Crispian." Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars, And say "These wounds I had on Crispin's day." Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember, with advantages, What feats he did that day. Then shall our names, Familiar in his mouth as household words— Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter, Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester— Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red. This story shall the good man teach his son; And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered- We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

Gents, I'm very gratified by how this discussion is unfolding. There's been far too much rancor in America over this election, and far too many people have lost sight of what matters: humanity. It used to be said "I may not agree with your speech, but I'll fight to the death to defend your right to speak it". Those words were spoken standing on the bedrock of brotherhood. That brotherhood is what matters. It's time to put away the vitriol, innuendo and pitchforks, and focus on what we have in common: Who has the best Sub?
