  1. Working Saturday, even though it is our best business day, I would still rather be doing something else, but having Sunday and Monday off makes up for it!
  2. I am trying to find the reference for the IWC. I know it exists, however here is an aution item of a Lange & Sohne watch purchased by Hitler as a gift for his Dr. Theodore Morell. Adolf Hitler's gift watch to Theodor Gilbert Morell sold for $70,000 An historically important watch, an 18K gold, hunting-cased, keyless pocket watch, which is described as a "minute-repeating" watch by A. Lange & Sohne, Glashutte, I/SA, B/Dresden, No. 91764, was sold for $70,000. The watch was made in 1938, and sold to Adolf Lunser, Berlin, a company that was the supplier to the Third Reich. The watch, inscribed "22.7.44 mit den herzlichsten W
  3. Mahalo to By Tor for another valuable contribution to the forum. Excellent write up.
  4. It is not easy to offer any better advice than you have heard from above. The dealers listed here are about the best you will find and welcome to the forum.
  5. Superb review Lanikai! Makes me want to buy that watch.
  6. That fiddy is an awesome looking watch. It takes balls to mod a gen like that.
  7. I have one of these, the Assioma and it is a good looking watch. The gen comes in a 44mm size and a 48mm, the 44 which is the only one repped is still a good size watch, but I would like to see it made in the larger version.
  8. Dluddy is an all around A-OK guy, who is good to have around, especially when you need a good wheel man. Jk.
  9. This is taken on a mountain above the city of Kochi, on Shikoku Island Japan. Kochi is famous for the best Sake in Japan and it's seafood. On weekday mornings, the major fishmarket has the nights catch and it does not get any better than this. The best tasting Toro, tuna in the world. Yum!
  10. Sayonara Joe. What? Get drafted into the Aussie Marines? Marry the girl in your avatar before you ship out.
  11. Is this poster Mr. Shuma or Mrs. Huma? Seems the latter as he/she wants to give us all [censored]s as well as pull the wool over our eyes. It is always entertaining when blatant theives are so wrapped up in their own lies, that they seem to believe them as well. This now banned hum job master really thinks this group is very gullible. Yes, the end of July was one for the books.Even for, me....I am in Japan and fell into a hole in the street, gashing my shin something fierce. Thank the heavens for opium suppositories.
  12. Sounds like you pretty well self diagnosed this one. It is a hit and miss game, so just but another one and try again. Good luck.
  13. Accidents happen all the time. Fortunately it will heal and you are not blinded in the injured eye. Broken vessels in the occular region tend to look worse than they are, and you may have, as a physician has told you, what appears to be continual bleeding for some time. Maybe not, but be prepared just in case.Eye injuries sure are scary. Heal up and be well.
  14. The lume on the gen is minimal and so is the rep. It is not meant to be a see in the dark watch.
  15. Is that what she told you as they remained glued to her chin?
  16. Looks pretty good to me. Think I will buy one.
  17. This is a subject I have had pause to cogitate. Wrist watches are an invention designed exclusively for men. Before that, pocket watches were also, a man's accessory. There is something inherently masculine about machines and devices which require motor function. The concept of collecting wrist watches and marvelling over their unique attributes is surely a mens club. As far as women needing a watch goes, why? So they know when to take the pie out of the oven? Most stoves are equipped with timers. I am half joking here. Watches are most certainly a tool of importance for men and women, but I do believe that at the level where we in this forum collect, compare and prattle on and on about the glorious wrist clock, we are talking about a mens club. IMHO.
  18. Here is a dictionary definition for Hambone, and it does ring true as I can surely "Slap the hambone sumpin funky!!" Even us white guys can have a sense of rythym. A rhythmic knee and chest slapping motion; A dance where you make your own music by slapping your "hambone" (outer thigh) {*1} then your chest {*2} and your inner thigh (or top thigh) {*3} on the way back down to make a 3 beat rhythm. This rhythm was popular amongs Afro-Americans during the slave times and following. It was a common popular dance/music making method. At times it accompanied instruments or dance (such as scat) such as the fiddle or whatever could be attained during the hard times of poverty {Currently nearly non-existing and a lost art of African-American culture} That ol' boy can slap the hambone som'n funky!! They was up in the barbershop singin' and doin' the hambone
  19. Watch winders are a good thing for many reasons. They keep the gears running and alleviate wear and tear on the movement when you are constantly re-setting the time and the date. I keep all my automatics on winders, and they are good to go any time at all. Try to avoid watch winders that spin at more than 5000 rotations per minute as this can cause the hands to fly off and become pressed against the outer edges of the watch crystal.
  20. Don't pay any attention to thoughts of 'enjoy your watch' and so forth. Pick out your next baby and buy it! Buy what you love most and do not be swayed to advice on what to buy. It is your personal choice and there are many choices. Have fun.
  21. So....are you telling us you are familiar with this invention and know how to operate one?
  22. Good riddance to that foul and nasty wimp who threatens people when things don't go his way. I have never seen such an abhorrent [censored] talk to people the way he did. If he had the guts to say what he has said to people face to face, he would surely not be alive. A true coward. Banning him was one of the best decisions made by this forum in this past year. It is unfortunate that it took threats against the Admin to make it happen, but this place is much better without him.
  23. Maybe, welcome, enjoy yourself
