I totally missed the hand stack! What movement is that. I looked at my genuine and about a dozen ETA watches and they all have, from the bottom, hour, minute, second.

The 11th of November, take a moment, pause and think.

Let us remember and honor all of those brave men and women who served, sometimes condemned, often not appreciated, but none the less they served and continue to serve with courage and valor so that all of us may enjoy the fruits of our labors and live in a land of freedom. Always remember "Freedom is NOT Free" Many of our Fathers, Mothers, Sisters, Brothers, Aunts and Uncles, Cousins,Best friends, the guy down the street, have paid the ultimate price so that we can put or hands over our hearts and sing the Star Spangled Banner, Say the Pledge of Allegiance, move freely, speak our mind and worship the God that we choose without fear of reprisal, persecution or death. -
They (RGM) were hard to deal with. Several years ago, they were the authorized service center for Doxa. I emailed them about a vintage Sub 300T Doxa Divingstar that I bought of a guy in France. I actually bought two of them form him at the same time, both were watches that had been issued to the French navy. At some point in time, both of them were serviced by whatever facility did the work for the French military. At that time Doxa was pretty much out of the dive watch business (1990's) and parts were unavailable. The service facility replaced the hands on both watches with Tudor Snowflake hands! Nice enough, but not correct. At any rate, I wanted to send one of them in to have the watch serviced, replace the crystal and gasket and replace the hands with Doxa hands. They told me to send the watch to them and they would let me know what it would cost to do the work. Well, I sent it in and waited about amonth, never heard a word, so i called them. They told me that they had my watch, and it was in line but probably wouldn't come up for repairs for another month. Fine, iwaited a month plus and called them back. yes, thye had looked at the watch, and were "looking" for parts! Now this is supposed to be an authorized service center. Well, long story short, they kept my watch for almost a year, never found the parts, and shipped it back untouched, overa year later. I made up my mind that i would never ever buy anything that came from them or needed service by them. Wasn't long after that that Doxa gave up on them as well. I ended up sending the watch to Jack Alexyon at IWW, he kept the watch for about a month, found the correct hands and replaced them, new crystal and gasket and it looked as good as new (well, not quite, but it looked as good as and old ex military beat up Doxa dive watch could look!"

Do some research before you buy!! Read thius first http://www.rwg.cc/to...n-the-internet/ then go to the Auction and scam forum http://www.rwg.cc/fo...ion-scam-sites/ Read reviews, and chose your dealer based on reviews and what you're looking for. If you do your homework, you won't get scammed. If you use off site non trusted dealers or some of those sites that come up when you google "replica watch' ,you are likely to get scammed. We have quite a few trusted dealers here. they are called trusted dealers for a reason, you can depend on them to deliver what you bought and payed for. That Dreamhead.net site is a total scam site. All those rep sales sites they "review are all part of the network of scam sites that have been going on for years. they are so filled with lies and inaccuracies that it's almost laughable, but only if you know what to look for. One review "If you are on the prowl for the latest models of authentic, Swiss-made Rolex replicas that can be bought at cheaper prices, you must check out Idealwatches.com. This high-end replica site prides itself in offering the best and individually… read more What a crock of B.S! First off there are and never have been replicas made in Switzerland. The Swiss have the strictest and harshest anti counterfeiting laws in the world. they put folks in jail for owning a rep! You cannot bring a rep watch into the country without fear of confiscation and a hefty fine.

Perplexing accuracy problem with my Doxa
panerai153 replied to panerai153's topic in General Discussion
You guys in Alaska must get really, really stir crazy during the winter. Is this what you read while you're eating your Coco Puffs and Grizzly sausage every morning? -
Chief, You sure fooled me, I would have sworn it was a genuine. although most of what shows on the front side is genuine. When I looked at the case back, comparing it to my genuine, it looks like there is a little bit of difference in the bevel on the case back. the genuine has a shallower and shorter bevel, which if put side by side would make the genuine case back a little thinner. I'm not talking about much here, just a little tiny difference. I have to say that your's is the best 16610 that I have seen yet. I would rather see a genuine dial rather than a genuine movement, if it was a trade off between the two. If everything on the front side is genuine, except the bezel and case, it's going to be really, really hard to tell this one from a gen. Congrats on a beautiful watch for a great cause, and put together by a super nice guy, the "K man". Wear it well and with a great deal of pride.

Perplexing accuracy problem with my Doxa
panerai153 replied to panerai153's topic in General Discussion
Thanks very much for the comprehensive, profound discourse in Latin(I think!!) on the hairspring theory of relativity. Considering that I don't usually use WD-40 on anything smaller than a rusty 1/2 inch bolt, I believe I will deliver the speeding Doxa to my watchmaker for a look see. I sincerely appreciate all the thoughts and wonderful advice. -
Perplexing accuracy problem with my Doxa

Wack on palm didn't work!! Looks like it's gaining about 10 seconds a minute. I'ii take the back off when I get home and see what's going on. -
I recently bought back my Doxa 300T from a guy in Spain. Had lots of problems related to moisture damage on the dial and hands, but the movement was fine, supposedly a recently serviced movement .The movement in question is a NOS that I sent with the watch when I sold it. I took some photos, but never wore it since the hands were relumed, I set it ,wound it and put it on. Much to my surprise, I found that by 9:00 AM it had gained about 20 minutes!! What do you think. magnetized, just off, or what. Thanks
-
It's got that gen sparkle!! I put mine under a 4X loupe, and the dial /hands look exactly the same. All I can say, if it's not a gen, it's the nicest 16610 rep I have ever seen

I just had the same experience, it looks like if you go to the contact page link in tomuchgear's thread above, that link takes you to the contact page. It looks like he has an alternate PayPal address on that page. Try that and see what happens. i'm looking to buy a dial, and I went all the way to the PayPal page as well.

I believe that we are in for a really rough. next few years. If we cannot reach some consensus in Congress, and address the debt problem, I'm afraid the USA will be in the same shape that Greece is in, and there will not be a EU to bail us out.No matter what each side claims, many of the problems we face today can be laid directly on the back of the "do nothing" Congress that has wasted time and space in Washington for the past few years. The president, whomever he might be cannot be held totally responsible in the face of our lawmakers inability to get anything done to move the USA forward. Obviously the financial markets were not happy with the election results. Look at the DOW this morning.

It looks a whole lot like my gen 16610 on my wrist right now!!
-
The 16613 would have much more appeal for me. It's dressy but not "blingy", unless you add a Diamond crusted bezel insert AFA the steel difference, I can tell, but only when I have my 16610 next to one of my reps outside in bright sunlight. For me it's a non issue, because the only time you can tell the difference is when you have a gen and a rep side by side, and how many folks wear two watches on the same wrist at the same time?
-
Hotten Todd has given you very good advice. What you asked is the same question we get asked many times per week! Firsrt off, you will never get more knowledgable if you are "Spoon fed " the answers. Second, with research you will begiin to understand what questions you need to ask. Let's take your question for instance. "where to find the best Daytona"? Daytonas have been around for 40 +years, so what are you looking for? A vintage pre oyster, a vintage Oyster, A Paul Newman, a contemporary, what bezel style, dial color, etc.? See where I'm going? You need to increase your knowledge base before you can ask a rational question. Happy reading.

They must be referring to the newer clasps, not the "tinny" clasps like the 9315,93150, etc. The old ones are pretty close between the reps and genuine. I have a rep 116710, and the clasp feels pretty good, but honestly, I have never had one of the genuine models in my hand or on my wrist, so I don't have any basis for comparison. AFA the Yachtmaster, I like the watch, I've been tempted to buy one, especialy one of the WM9 /BK models, but i keep steering away, as It just seems a little too "blingy" for me. I would like to see a really accurate head on shot of this watch, just to make sure the DW isn't left justified. I have found that is a problem with several Rolex reps that I have owned. It's not that much, and probably would never be noticable by anyone other than a WIS, but it's a sure tell if someone knows. All of my genuine Rolex watches have dead center numbers on the DW, the reps do not. I can't figure out why it would be so difficult to make a DW or overlay that fit the dial date window?

Watch for sale. Opinions on authenticity appreciated.
panerai153 replied to ltr's topic in General Discussion
I agree. Definitely genuine,There enough folks on WUS trolling through sales forum that anything suspicious is immediately targeted. Also WUS is private, so whatever Ernie Romers decides, that's the law, and he doesn't like reps!!. Ask him for photos of the bracelet if you are interested. i would say that this price is in line with what mid size Omegas are bringing, but i wouldn't pay as much for a recent model that has no box and papers. I doubt the bracelet is really beat up, but it probably was worn a lot and it has lots of scratches, etc. i bet you could get this one for around 1200.00 to 1300.00 USD if you really wanted it. -
Looks pretty darn nice to me, I would definitely relume that green second hand to match everything else. maybe a little research into the numbers on the back, what do they mean? maybe this is and issue number from the Canadian navy. Shoot him and offer, worst that he can do is refuse.

That's pretty much what happened to my 1665 superdome. I'm sure I hit it on some solid objects a few times which probably accelerated the problem. It passed a pressure test a little over a year ago, but a few months back, I hit it full force with a water hose that slipped in my hand, a few minutes later, fog under the crystal. I sent it to a watchsmith, who discoverd that the crystal had several hairline cracks, but one big one that extended up the side into the curve. He replaced it with a Clark and it's been fine since, pressure tested to 6 atm (the most my machine will go). I agree that probably the clarity of the crystal might not be quite as good as the genuine, but as Ronin stated, wear will reduce the clarity and in a few weeks, they are about the same.If it looks the same, my most important criteria is water resistance.

This is a True Superfranken 1665 Double Red
panerai153 replied to PLOPROFCOMEX's topic in The Rolex Area
Gotta have a vintage Tritium pearl on a beautiful watch like this. Genuine hands as well will be the icing on the cake. -
That's very good news for thoswe of you where customs is very nosy! On the other hand, i'm not so sure it's a good idea to give out email addresses on and open forum. there are lots of folks lurking here that don't have the forum or rep watche's best interest at heart. It would be too bad if someone set up a meeting to buy a watch like you did, and instead of and eager buyer, a couple of policemen and customs officials showed up.

Help me find a red/black date disk for DG3804 gmt movement.
panerai153 replied to a topic in The Rolex Area
Keep your eye out on the parts sales forum, occasionally one comes up, but they are generally for ETA movements. I'm not sure if the ETA 2846 datewheel is compatible with the DG3804, but I know who does know. Shoot joeyB a PM and ask him if he doesn't chime in here first. He uses DG3804 movements quite a bit in his 6542 builds. He might be able to give you some help with sourcing one as well.
