Would seem so, but the problem is they all get caught sooner or later. the little thugs in Garland will probably try to sell off the watches to their friends, fellow gang members, and someone will have a few too many Tequila shots and start bragging about how easy it was to rip off Macys. They will get ratted out and the noose will close around them, too bad it's not around their neck.

Gen hands for Submariner 16610 with an ETA 2824

<blockquote class="ipsBlockquote" data-time="1354096597" data-cid="1177167" data-author="Watchfreund"><p>Thanks for the good and fast feedback. But I think this is 100% right:<br /> <br />"I've said it countless times here on the forum, guys get head over heels into a project and it ends up costing a lot more than they first budgeted. Later on, if you decide to sell the watch, you are going to find out that while there is a big market for 200-500 USD reps, when you get into the rarified air of the superfranken (1500-6000 USD) you will find that the buyer pool shrinks to the size of a tiny puddle! Just look at the sales forum and see how many of the really wonderful builds languish there for weeks and weeks, sometimes months. Quite frequently, the seller will have to resort to parting out the watch to recoup some of his expenses. Just a word from one who has been there, done that and knows from experience what the costs cane be for a superfranken project.I've got a DRSD 1665 Seadweller that I have probably in excess of 3500 USD in, if you count everything including postage and insurance to send the watch back and forth several times to my watchmaker when I wanted to change something, add something or get some problems straightened out."<br /><br /> Smart idea. I generally try to stick to around 20% of gen cost, but today with the prices of parts especially vintage Rolex, it's next to impossible to stay within that budget. Probably 30% is more realistic. i believe that adding a clone movement and then start looking for a genuine dial and hands. They do come up for sale, and they are not nearly as expensive as a lot of the vintage dials, put that al ltogether, and you will have one nice 16610.<br /> <br />You have to be careful and always look at the costs. I already have everything from TC for this Sub + Gen crown, tube, insert, pearl. Some money for mods like custom shaving the TC bracelet to fit the TC case and so on. It is so close to the gen. And I am just somewhere above 1000€. Going up to almost 2500 Euro is nonsense since the gen gets so close for the price. I think 30% of the gen price should be the maximum.</p></blockquote> -
Darn right, they have 4WD and snow tires right? and besides all those guns, dynamite, rocket launchers, drones, etc in the trunks will help with the traction. I think he's getting skert off Mike, he hasn't said a word in at least 5 minutes, probably thinks you got one of them tracking thingys on his computer keeboard. Probably out shooting a moose or a bear for fresh meat when the seige starts.

Original NOS 1675 Root Beer Dial and Bezel Value?
panerai153 replied to stamsd's topic in The Rolex Area
Might be a good idea to go over to the vintage Rolex market and scroll thru the sales listings, might get some pretty good ball park numbers from there. Don't ask them what it's worth, Probably won't get a straight answer, and I'm not sure they don't have a rule about requesting price info and appraisals. -
You're just pouring it on aren't you. Sitting up there on top of your mountain, in your big Chalet, looking down on all us poor groveling peasants, remember what happened in France, feed us too much cake, and BAM!! off with your head. IF only we could get up through all that rarified oxygen fee atmosphere, we would take back all those beautiful Rolexes!! Remember we are living in socialism now, you need to share!! See ther, we are thinking alike Don't mess with that JOOSEY BOY, he probably has one of them funny names with 10 vowels.

Darn you, would you PLEEEZE quit posting that delicious 1675. My little old 16750 is turning green with envy!! Finally took the 1665 out for a little sunlight. i bet the poor darling is getting cabin fever in the dark confines of your watch box.

Gen hands for Submariner 16610 with an ETA 2824
panerai153 replied to watchfreund's topic in The Rolex Area
I would go the route of one of the clone 3135 movements, if you buy a genuine 3135 and then have to have it serviced (Likely if it's a few years old and never serviced plus the genuine dial, hands, bezel, insert, crystal,crown/tube,bracelet and springbars you are going to be getting pretty close to what you could buy a genuine 16610 for. Probably within a thousand dollars or less. No matter what you do, it's still going to be a franken. I've said it countless times here on the forum, guys get head over heels into a project and it ends up costing a lot more than they first budgeted. Later on, if you decide to sell the watch, you are going to find out that while there is a big market for 200-500 USD reps, when you get into the rarified air of the superfranken (1500-6000 USD) you will find that the buyer pool shrinks to the size of a tiny puddle! In the early years, when Tudor was considered "the poor man's Rolex", they used sourced movements first the 390 and then various ETA movements. Outside of the dial and movement, everything else was Rolex. Later on, the brands began to diverge and the Tudors were pretty much all Tudor, but that wasn't until much later. Any of the earlier sport model Tudors are considered collectible, that includes all the various sub models as well as the chronographs. Just make sure that you read the small print with the subs, as they did make several smaller size and even women's size submariners. Don't think you are getting a great deal on a sub, only to find out it's one of the mid size rather than the full size models, much like the deal here. I'm afraid the fellow trying to sell you the mid size for 2.1k is in for a really unpleasent awakening, he is way off base on his price. Probably what has happened is he went on Ebay and looked at prices of Tudor subs, and doesn't realize that there is a pretty big gap between the full size and the mid size models. He's pricing his like it was 40mm instead of 36mm

Minh sells a lot of very nice genuine watches as well as his rep dials and cases. He has been in business for a long time, i believe that you are safe with him, but as others have posted, if you feel uncomfortable about the deal, I would simply contact him with your concerns and ask for a refund if he can't produce the dial within the 45 day time frame. i wouldn't threaten him, as it will do no good at all. Just state your concerns and ask him to please let yoou know if the dial can be done before the 45 day time is expired.

The Rules of The Road: Forum Etiquette
panerai153 replied to panerai153's topic in General Discussion
Thanks, We can agree to disagree on some things, that's pretty much the way things are in life. @diaby2fc If you are going to frequent genuine forums, and plan to sell things there, i would re- register on the gen sites using a completely different user name, maybe even a different email address. It's just too easy for someone to pop over here hit the "members" button and type in your user name on their forum. IF they get a hit, you're probably toast. -
I suppose that's a way of putting it, forum etiquette. At any rate one of the fairly new members proudly posted his rep Rolex 1016 over on the Rolex Forum. i'm sure he wasn't aware of the consequences, but it took about 10 posts before someone over there, who is probably a regular over here as well, wised up, called him out and now he's banned over there. That in itself isn't the end of the world, but what he did, posting on both forums with the same name, really brings unneeded attention to RWG. It probably took the Rolex Forum member about 30 seconds to do a member search here, and bingo! his name came up, he goers to his posts, finds the topic and links it back to TRF, so all the members there can see the RWG post, same pictures, same watch, etc. So, since we have a pretty big turnover of folks, and lots of new members, maybe it's time to go back through the" rules of the road" so to speak. I have seen a whole lot of noobs posting lately, which i think is wonderful, but they need to know what is what. So here are the simple rules (Advice), that will keep you out of trouble. 1. Not a good idea to use the same "handle" on the rep sites that you use on genuine. accio used the same name, probably took the guy on the Rolex Forum about 30 seconds to do a member name search here and the other rep forums and sure 'nuf his name popped up. BUSTED!! 2. Never ever use a members real name, address, telephone number, or email on the open forum. If you want to use names, etc. only use them in PM's and emails to that individual. There are quite a few folks here that also frequent genuine watch forums, not just Rolex but many, many other forums. Most of the folks who frequent the genuine forums, especially those who are on the "big name watch" forums are very, very intolerant. They hate reps, the people who wear reps, and everything there is to do with reps. They will ban someone in a second if they find out they are rep forum particiapants. So for the sake of the other members on the forum, be careful and play by the rules.

Really bad form to try to pass reps off on a genuine forum. We don't need the attention! What was amazing was how many of those guys oohed and aahed over the watch, How beautiful, great girtlfriend, and then along comes a guy who probably is pretty knowledgable about Rolex watches, and he knew where to look for the post here, so I would bet that he is one of those lurkers, watching this forum, trying to put peoples handles together with their handles on genuine forums. So Guys, we have this come up periodically, but lots of new members and a constant turnover so here's some advice. 1. Not a good idea to use the same "handle" on the rep sites that you use on genuine. accio used the same name, probably took the guy on the Rolex Forum about 30 seconds to do a member name search here and the other rep forums and sure 'nuf his name popped up. Order my first Reps, have some shipping questions
panerai153 replied to DeeCee's topic in General Discussion
Usually if no one is home, the postman will leave a notice in your mailbox. You will then have to go to the PO and sign for the package. Keep your fingers crossed that you don't have a lazy Postman that just throws the package on your doorstep! -
Beautiful build, That J boy can build those 1016's. You are right about the thin case Rolexes, they just sort of "Disappear " on your wrist. my 16750 is like that,Sometimes I have to check my wrist to see if it's still there!

If you don't want people to make negative comments about your post, why don't you give the whole story up front. Then folks can at least have the facts up front to make a valid decision as to whether or not they agree. And don't ever tell me to shut my mouth. When you've been here a few years and have a few hundred posts that are meaningful and helpful to the community, then you can tell someone to shut up, other wise you can take your smart mouth somewhere else. If the lady wanted to make a gift of the watch, that's another matter entirely, but the fact that you didn't take it because you knew up front that you were going to flip it for a huge profit and what would you say if later she said, "I notice you aren't wearing the watch I gave you?" So you gave here a really lowball price for the watch and that made you feel good because you didn't just "take it" as a gift, you paid for it. And by the way, I'm not a saint, far from it, but I can truthfully say in all my years of dealing with people, I have never taken advantage of someone who lacks the knowledge about the value of something that I want to buy from them. I'm not going to stomp all over IrolexU's thread any more. You can reply, but 'Im done.

I wonder, is the problem as acute in Europe as it is here in the USA? Rolex NA it seems has been in the forefront in the fight to shut off everyone who services Rolex watches.

I might start a flame war here, but to MD2020, i believe that what you did was despicable. You took advantage of and old ladies ignorance of watch prices and totally scammed her. You knew up front that the Tudor was worth a hell of a lot more than 500.00 USD. I don't compare what you did with what irolexu did in the least. He and the guy he bought the watch from both probably knew what the watch was worth, and the seller had ample opportunity to check around and see what the watch was worth. You neighbor trusted you because you had worked on her late husbands watches, and she considered you a friend. Some friend you are.I really don't know how some folks sleep at night, but I suppose if you don't have any scruples, sleep comes easy.I suppose it eases you conscience to say that you gave her 500 for the watch rather than the 150 she asked, even though you knew what a Tudor Snowflake was worth, and you knew you could flip it for a big profit? People like you are the reason I have and Excel spreadsheet with all my watches, serial numbers descriptions and prices, just so someone like you can't come along and take advantage of my wife's ignorance of watch values. IrolexU, sorry for getting in the middle of your thread, but I can't let this guys response go unanswered.

Ladies Aquaracer 32mm Genuine Gold Crown?
panerai153 replied to panerai153's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
Thanks, I realized about 10 seconds after I pushed "post' that Th was Tag Heuer!! -
Beautiful photos, great, great watch as well. I love the mountains, and the beauty that goes with them, it's just too darn cold for and old man like me!! Our thermometers down here don't even go down to minus 6, they stop at zero!!

Unless you are buying this for your wife/girlfriend or son, I wouldn't spend over about 12-14 hundred for it. It's too small, they are not popular and thus not big sellers. looks like the minute hand is losing some of it's lume, which would make me a little nervous( only because I would have to have it serviced and the lume stabilized, or dial/hands relumed). This is not one that you could easily flip for a profit. If you are looking for a Tudor for yourself, i would stick to the 40mm size models. I wouldn't necessarily think that this model is rare or collectible.

There are a few OK Lange reps, I don't believe that the ones you asked about exist. Probably too complicated, also Lange is not a big player in the rep game. I doubt that the rep factories would spend a lot of time and/or effort repping something that isn't going to sell in the thousands of units. Loook at the websites of the dealers here, they list some Lange models.

The hairspring sure looks wonky. It looks like it's bent. What is the watch doing? There must be some sort of hairsprinfg virus going around lately, my Doxa seems to have had a problem with the hairspring, not as serious as yours however.
