  1. Quite honestly, gen or rep, once you have owned it for awhile, the novelty wears off. That's just the way it is with material things am I right? You can finally acquire the watch you always wanted, the car you always wanted, the house you always wanted, even the woman you always wanted, and after a few months/years, you want something else. With watches, I know a very wealthy man who owns hundreds of gens, and he is always on the prowl for more. That taught me a valuable lesson, that no matter what kind of watch I get, I will always want something else. So why waste crazy money on gens, when you can spend a fraction of the price on reps, and not feel so bad when you get tired of them! Finally, if you lose a gen, or damage it, you will feel HORRIBLE. If the same thing happens to a rep, not that big a deal, just order another from Trusty, Toro, etc. . .
  2. Sweet!! Congrats on that FC. Well worth the wait for sure.
  3. Bro, all due respect, but seems to be an easy answer here. No gen is worth what they are asking for. Like Jkay said on another thread, the Rolex sub is a great $500 watch. You are paying thousands extra for the name brand cache. You can purchase many high-quality reps and even modded out out reps for the price of a gen sub or PO. JMHO, it's your money bro! Congrats on the bonus too, btw!
  4. You can't go wrong with that 111 v3, one of the best reps ever made. Simple, clean lines, and elegant. Enjoy!
  5. 7" should be fine. But as others have mentioned, it also depends on the shape of your wrist, and maybe even the rest of your body proportions.
  6. Ugh. So sad. Worst single day in American history, bar none.
  7. Very cool piece! Wear it in good health.
  8. Nice. One of my favorite pieces. Looks like you really enjoying yours!
  9. Congrats my man! That piece is just a classic beauty.
  10. Superb watch, and like the others said, that strap just pops! Congrats!
  11. Nah, you aren't going to find a decent rep on Canal St. Believe you me, I tried, and every watch I got there ended up breaking. I do have one functional Cartier Roadster that is still working from when I bought it in 2010, but the overall quality is crap compared to the modern reps you see on TD sites.
  12. I sometimes wonder why guys go to the trouble of answering questions like these. The OP asks a question, people try to help him out so he won't get screwed over, and not even the courtesy of a "thanks."
  13. Very impressive! I get the feeling that the Terminator doesn't usually go out of his way to send letters like that. The quality of those straps is just outstanding!
  14. Very cool. Btw, you mention the 7075 anodized aluminum alloy is stronger and lighter than titanium? That must be like a feather on your wrist.
  15. Awesome watch man! Clean lines, and great wrist presence. Enjoy!
  16. Dang. That is going to look craazy when you finally put that all together. Post some pics please!
  17. Great info panerai! I was kind of wondering that myself, seeing guys on here spending a grip installing all these gen crystals, faces, inserts, hands, movements, stems, etc. . .
  18. Very nice! Can't go wrong with that classic piece.
  19. Killer collection there bro! Too bad you had to sell a few, but yah, unless you are just rolling in dough, sometimes you have to make sacrifices. . .
  20. Good info here guys! Thanks!
  21. That is just a fabulous piece. Awesome mods as well. Congrats on a brilliant watch.
  22. I've kind of lost some interest in rollies as well, not that I wouldn't pick up a really good rep, but since I got into this hobby, there are just so many other intriguing pieces out there. Plus, it seems you see a lot more of them in the wild these days, maybe because good reps are so easy to come by now. I think the James Bond influence has held sway for some 4+ decades, but these days, I am much more interested in high-quality diving pieces that stand on their own merits, and not necessarily sub homages.
