  1. The 3714 uses the 79350. However, rep case set requires quite some rework.
  2. Hi Britta! You have loads of Rolex knowledge here, both in the forum threads and in the members here. Hope you'll like it here!
  3. Welcome! Hope you find what you're looking for - and take care of your bank account
  4. Good initiative imajedi! My favorite sub for me today
  5. Very happy to see you post again! You are indeed one of the masters of this hobby, something also proven here. Beautiful 5002 - and what a journey!! Have myself had my old 5002 rep with a modder for 1.5 years now trying to get a gen datewheel installed... Maybe an idea to go the LPP route instead.
  6. Fantastic build, my hat off to you Sir! You have managed to create something truly unique here with a lot of character and soul - and that also without use of gen or even that expensive parts. Thanks for sharing!
  7. Thank you for sharing this, have been curious about Tonny's case and 3-6-9 dial.
  8. Lol, haven't noticed that many panties yet - but at least my jaw is dropped several times per day for this.
  9. The watch in this thread had a 6536 replacement dial from the 60s - so yes not the /1 designation (but also not the '55 gilt).
  10. I'd say you're both a bit correct - but not fully. The 6536/1 (that you Nanuq posted a photo of besides the 6538) is indeed a very thin case. The 6536 on the other hand was a rare reference only produced in around 100 examples in 1955. The case of that indeed resembled the 6538, being beefier than the 6536/1 (and the 5508). So transitional in a way. Most 6536 are also punched "6538", and having "6536" overwritten... The 6536 had the same dial size as the 6538 - 27.0mm (6536/1 was 27.5mm). Also I believe the 6536 was the only reference using the tropic 18, again making it look a bit higher than the 6536/1. But of course, the 6538 then has that bigger crown and higher depth rating.
  11. Thanks guys! See link here for details: http://rwg.cc/index.php?/topic/184314-Big-Crown-fantasy-franken-completed
  12. Think you have an epic 6541 en route!
  13. Lovely! Very impressed and envious by the fact that you now virtually can do any gilt dial you want - just like that. Thanks for sharing!
  14. Your memory is correct and this couldn't have come together without your help! Forgot to mention that you also did great work on the CWP hands. That's why it's still on a Yuki bracelet! And yes, to my understanding it's a 60s dial. Don't think I'll test WR anytime soon, even though your logic seems straightforward
  15. More than my first Silix based BC... PM if you're interested in specifics!
  16. Thank you! Am so incredibly happy about this finally being completed. This watch feels like a family member and I hope to live with it for a very long time. Was originally set on acquiring an exotic gilt dial from the Dark Lord for this build, but then it turned out when I chatted with the guy who sold the insert that he also had this fairly rare 6536 dial in his drawer... After a lot of thinking and quite some time of negotiations I ended up buying it. Sometimes you get lucky, and parts collecting is indeed a fun part of this hobby!
  17. Hi guys, Thought I'd share some pictures and info about this watch with non-matching case/dial, just completed. Temporarily on rep rivet bracelet. Specs: Phong 6538 case, aged and reshaped with added bevels 1030 movement, serviced Rolex 6536 dial Rolex MkI / kissing 4 insert Tropic 17 superdome crystal Rolex 8mm crown + tube Huge thanks to dbane883 for helping me out in the beginning with advice and blood, sweat and tears later on with that case work. Same goes for misiekped who somehow finally turned a rusty old pile of trash into a excellent running and nice 1030 movement. Thanks for looking!
  18. Excellent reference for others considering a 6541 project. Looking forward to updates!
  19. Ending the day with oysters in Miami
