  1. Congrats! I have 3 little guys myself.
  2. Very cool, nonetheless. Thanks for clarifying. When I read the term Uboat I just assumed it was German.
  3. That's fascinating. Do you know much about his story and his boat? Even though sailors fought on different sides during the war, the submariners had nothing but respect for each other. There are some great books on the German U-boat officers and the whole experience living at sea in those cramped vessels.
  4. Beers and wenches... now that sounds divine!
  5. I mean no disrespect, and I don't know you, but you were indeed being cocky with them when you really didn't need to be. It could have been resolved easily and quickly with no drama at all. None. I mean come on, between us, how hard would it have been for you to just break it up into the smaller threads they wanted? Right? Oh golly, maybe a few more pics would have been needed, but most of the text could have just been cut and pasted, right? After reading the comments you made to the police, this reminds me of all the movies and TV shows where the cops go to talk to someone and the person acts indignantly and like a total wise a$$. Every time I see that in a movie or TV show I always say "who on Earth talks to the cops like that?" Well, I think you did the same thing with this situation. Of course they are going to respond that way. You played with fire and got burned. Sorry man. Tough lesson, but maybe things will go better next time.
  6. I didn't realize Adrian was over here, too. Cool!
  7. No worries, just thought I'd ask in case you knew. Clark sells two versions of the T19. The one you referenced as vintage is the service dome profile. The other style he sells is the super dome. With gens there is a 3rd dome profile, halfway in between the super dome and service dome, but I don't like that one. I'll definitely check out that other brand that you posted and I'll get out the calipers to measure my case. Looks like a great one! Thanks!
  8. How does that service dome compare to the Clark T19 service dome? Better clarity or profile? Is it more likely to fit with the Puretime case? I have read that the Clarks can have variations in ID and if one doesn't fit right, another may fit better. My Clark cracked right away. Is this brand more uniform in its production?
  9. Go to Homage Forum. He has a sales section there.
  10. Oh man, what a deal that would have been. I could drive myself insane with woulda coulda stories. I'm kicking myself daily for buying the top of the line Sony XBR tube TV with integrated stand and matching DVD player instead of a Rolex when I turned 30. I had an Explorer 1 all picked out and I was I deciding between that and a 16610 sub. The Exp was $2,200 or $2,300 retail back then and the sub was around $3k-ish. I thought the TV would be more practical so I bought that instead! OMG, what was I thinking? LOL! The TV is literally worth zero now. Another one was from about 4 years ago or so. A big jewelry chain had a store here at the Mall of America. They had a policy where they have a 30 day money back, no questions asked return policy. They had a customer returned polar 16570 without lugholes for $3,300. Literally only worn 30 days. You didn't get a box but you got all the warranty backing. I loved it and still do love the polar, but I declined. Ugh, why did I do that? Sigh! LOL
  11. What a difference a couple of years makes. There was an amazing late 60s all original 1675 for sale on the boards a couple of years ago (maybe 3?) with all boxes, papers, tags, and various service letters and other memorabilia the owner collected from over the years. $6kish and it wasn't moving. Was on there for weeks and weeks. At the same time there were '70s 1675s being listed at $3,500 to $4,500.
  12. I like cream, personally. My Puretime red 1680 dial has sun faded to a nice cream lume color. I just need to texturize it and it will be great.
  13. I had that exact same issue with my noob GMTIIC. Turned out the other springbar dimple wasn't drilled into the metal so only one side of that springbar was seated. Josh sent me a new bracelet and clasp free of charge. The bracelet also had some pitting and unpolished defects from manufacturing. This was way back in 2008 before we had QC pics.
  14. Thanks for sharing this. Great read. I agree that a new stainless pepsi would be fantastic to see. Fingers crossed!
  15. Those are gorgeous! Just fantastic. I really like the profile shape of those crystals. I need to replace my crystal. If someday you ever remember the supplier, please share the name. [emoji2] [emoji106]
  16. I can post the link to the seller if you like. He was the cheapest one at the time. Shipping was really quick to the US, too.
  17. Just another reason to drool over vintage sub pics! [emoji2] [emoji106]
  18. I just bought a very similar set with the dies on Ebay. Cost me just over $20 with free shipping from Singapore. As soon as it arrived, I tested it on all of my watches and it fit perfectly.
  19. Would a '69 red meters first 1680 have a card set like this? The card set reads "submariner 200" so that would match up with the 200m on the red dial, wouldn't it?
  20. What do you do when it is your little kids, and instead of it being caused by a key it is caused by their bicycle handlebars and toys? Ugh. I went out to my car in the garage the other day and the whole side has scratches everywhere. Long ones, short ones, little knicks, gouges, etc. The car is black, too. Hood, front passenger quarter panel, front passenger door, rear passenger door...
  21. There are a number of different places and some good threads here that discuss member experiences with the different sources. Startime has good ones, but you either need an account or you need to find someone who has one. I bought a set of Yuki gen spec bars, and while they were cheap ($5 shipped), the internal springs were/are kind of weak. In fact, one of the internal springs broke while I was trying to finagle the ends into a set of WSO 580 end links. Now the pins slide around in that bar. Here is a great set that was referred to me by a modder over on RWI. You can either buy one set for $8 or 2 sets for $12. The caliper measurements are dead on to gen and the tips will come all the way out to the ends of the lugholes. http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Fat-S-S-Pin-Spring-Bar-Older-Rolex-Watch-Submariner-GMT-II-2x20mm-2x-RL-SB6/181835948267?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33097%26meid%3Dc9e03375002c4efbae2753e9f682954c%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D400904811191
  22. Very cool. I think I'll be in, too. I have a 1016 build on my build list, so this would be perfect for that. I also eventually want to do a 5513 or 5512, so this would be good for that, too.
