See, I was expecting that story to turn out differently... out drinking, got totally wasted, somehow credit card is maxed out and in a weeks time have 30 reps arrive at the doorstep!

I guess for me this hobby has led to more expensive tastes - I am careful about not buying too much, as although I don't have house payments to make, I have not had enough income to actually buy a lot. But when I first arrived here, I was looking at getting a Tag aquaracer (date only), and could pick one up for around $2,000. Now having spent a similar amount on reps that I won't be able to sell outside the forums, I could have had that Tag. But I no longer want it. I now want the $10,000 Breitlings, or even the $4,000 Omega PO. And have got a Pam hommage on the way as we speak (see avitar). Another $600. Still, at least all my credit cards are below their limits (although some only just).

From what I have seen doesn't mean the guy is on here for a start, and also doesn't mean he knows it is a fake. Also looks like nobody on TZ knows it is a fake either, but I guess Biver is skeptical, and wants further confirmation that is is a gen or a fake by getting the serial number.

What I am looking for is a phone that takes 2 sim cards, which the iphone doesn't. There are ways to do it but thta means cutting the sims to fit, there is only one phone on the market at the moment I know of that will take 2 cards and do the job seemlessly, the samsung duo (that I know of). That is what the next phones need IMO.

Thanks for the answer, didn't think it was going to be an easy process. I guess it isn't that I necessarily need my watches to have a 5 o'clock shadow, but the crazy hours just doesn't seem like a utilitarian watch - I have a couple more dress watches that just get no wrist time for that simple fact, maybe calling it a girlie watch wasn't quite the right way to put it

Actually I heard from someone that the subsidy is about to cease as the govt had run out of money to do it. Not sure if it is true or just a rumour though. What people fail to think about I find is inflation. Jamz mentioned it, we are paying similar to what the price was in the 70's. Everything goes up in price, yet all people think about is the price of petrol not being what it was 10 years ago, seeming to think it should still be the same price. When I was working at a servo, had one old guy go on about the rip off prices, saying how expensive it was, and he remembered back in the old days he could fill up a car for sixpence or whatever he might have said. But all I said to him was to enquire how much a litre of milk was back then, and how much wages were. And then I pointed out that the price of petrol was still cheaper than milk. I think he actually realised that it wasn't too bad a price in the scheme of things.

Hi all, I have had musings for a while about making a custom pam - putting a crazy hours movement in a case, and making a sandwich dial with full numbers on it so you actually do know what the time is. At present I don't have the time, nor skill to carry out such a task, but has anyone else considered making a custom like this? I like the idea of the crazy hours, but it just seems like it would be too feminine of a watch for me. Would a movement fit in the first place, and are the movements available anywhere seperately, or would I have to get the whole watch to disect?

Or getting 'other' appendages cut off!

I posted this at RG, but will repost it here: Not to put a fly in the ointment here, but is it possible someone else who has an axe to grind has chosen this user name and used the pictures that navi has in his photobucket account? If the pictures have been posted here, anyone could link them to anywhere, just copy and paste the address. Saves uploading them yourself, and makes a setup look even more convincing. Thoughts?

Thanks for the insight there The Zigmeister, I wondered why that post was made that you wouldn't install the datewheel. This is invaluble information for some of us that did not know there were so many issues. I know I for one had no idea there were so many that were defective. It must be very frustrating for you to encounter these problems when doing the work.

I really like this idea, it is likely to be a mission to get organized, but if we can get enough people who will go, it would be awesome. My thought on where it should be is somewhere people would like to vacation in the first place. I for one would put places such as Hawaii on the short list, maybe Cabo or somewhere such as that, the Bahamas. Obviously it would appear I like the beach! I do also like jfreemans idea of Miami Beach. Good tourist area, I would like to get back to Florida one day - I did vacation up at Ft Myers once (just after spring break. Doh!) so would like to see more of the area. Plus we have a lot of Florida members here.

I like the watch. Not taking into account the Titanic stuff, it is a very nice looking watch - the dial texture, the hands, the numbers, with the RJ at the top in place of the 12.

Give me a year to get organized first, then we will talk...

Maybe have a look through some of the photography on the forum and do a painting from one of those? Some of Pugwash's or By-Tors pics are very good, and would make a great painting. Of course just double check with the photographer first
