  1. I like the description of having running seconds at 6 when there is no 6 o'clock subdial!
  2. +1, and what sort of price?
  3. Thought she would have at least logged on though. Odd.
  4. Look at whether Omega offer lifetime free servicing too - recently I was in an Omega boutique and on some models they offer this. More than makes up for the slightly higher purchase price.
  5. Be careful with the online stores, some file off the serial numbers. Not saying theyare not gen, but some will file the number off to protect the AD source they get the from. For peace of mind, full papers etc. I would go the AD route for my first.
  6. On the horizon I would like to get a gen PO big size, it seems to be one of the only watches around that I would spend real money on. As to reps, I am thinking of not getting any really - but maybe build a couple of pam hommages - I would like a skeleton, but not sure it is me, so that would be one of the hommages. As to another, something plain in a sandwich dial with a date font, possibly power reserve, but in manual wind. Maybe in a radiomir case.
  7. So it is a movie then? Thought you were going to compete in the next ironman
  8. I would pop over to the bling house for a real live game, but I can't swim that far...
  9. Rock on! I would be after one when they come out too!
  10. Thanks CS, beer o'clock only just hit for me, finished work early. Real annoying working evenings.
  11. Thanks for the reply, anybody else know the answers to the other questions?
  12. Although this sounds like an interesting project, aren't the LV subs a reasonably new line, and thus not something that should looked aged?
  13. I installed skype recently, yet even though it is online all the time, my status shows up that I am offline. Any ideas why? (This is in the info I have on RWG, not in actual skype). Also, a question regarding how to change the text below your avatar. How can you do this? Or do you need a certain number of posts (that I haven't hit yet) to be able to write whatever you want? Oh, and hopefully the last question, how do you embed utube vidoes? I am sure there was a tutorial somewhere, but I couldn't find it when I looked. Hope these questions are ones many people have been too afraid to ask and also after the answers!
  14. So is that macro shot done with the ring on, or just holding the lense back to front? I get the feeling it was done with the ring put on, or there would be a lot of light seep through, right? Brilliant tip though, just need to upgrade the film SLR to DSLR so it doesn't cost a fortune in processing to get it right!
  15. Didn't realize they came in a sportier range at all. I stand corrected. Although, still doesn't quite say buy me! to me.
  16. @Corgi: I am looking for more an everyday beater watch not a dress watch for now, so don't think the Blancpains would work. Just never really in a situation I need a dress watch. Sure, I don't dive either, but I like the PO. Sure, there are reps of the PO around that are very good, but I just don't care really - whatever I get will be a gen, I will know that, I don't care what anyone else thinks. And of course, it has to be a watch that I decide is 'the one'. Kinda like trying to find a good woman you might like whilst sober @ST: yes, went upstairs at the hour glass, they had a lot of tudors there actually. And yes, they had Panerai. Total of 3 Radiomirs, 2 of which were in gold, and both a black face and white face daylight. That was the extent of their stock. They were the ones with the superocean heritage. @UB7, nice watch. I do have the (rep) BCE, and just not feeling that i want it as a gen. What I do want is that new Bentley GMT, looks niiice. And this decision is one that I don't want to rush into, how long did you have the colt before you traded it? I don't want to be deciding 2 months after buying that I got the wrong one. Not thatrich (yet). Although at the moment it is a moot point buying a gen, am looking at starting a business and so not going to have enough cash for a while to buy I think.
  17. Saw a real one today, and it actually looked pretty good.
  18. So I decided to go into the city here and have a look around the AD's and see what they had on offer. Turns out there is quite a bit around Sydney. Of 4 shops, 2 of them even had Hublots. Seeing them in person, although I wouldn't drop $10,000 on one, they do look good. Rolex everywhere. Saw the new GMT ceramic, but after the big watches I usually wear, they just look too small. Went into 2 Panerai dealers, one had the full Ferrari range, 2 40mm and a Radiomir regatta, but that was it. They could take a deposit on anything I was after, but would have to wait for their allocation of it to arrive in, which could take up to 18 months. Apparently they are very popular here, and most of what comes in in a 44mm is already presold. As a general rule it seems only the 40mm even hit the shelves. Which is suprising, since I have yet to see anyone wearing one. I guess, with such limited runs, no matter how populalr it would be hard to find anyone wearing one. Saw the superocean heritage, and according to the guy at the shop, there will be no more coming into the country until next year as there is a huge shortage. Not cheap at $4100 AU and it was on rubber. It was nice, but just didn't shout out 'buy me!'. Plus that he said none of the other bracelets other than the mesh one will fit, puts me off a lot. Went into Cartier, pleased I never got a rep of them, as they just didn't do anything for me. Also went into the Omega shop, which was nice. I had a good look at both the PO and PO chrono (both the big one) and very nice watch. I am very tempted to make that the gen I do buy. And also, with either of them, free servicing for life. Which if I live another 50 years, assuming a 10 year service interval (which is what they recommend for the co-axil) that would mean half the price of the watch is recouped in free servicing. One thing that puts me off the PO though, is I like the bling of the Breitling bracelets. I like the polished look of them. Makes things hard. Asked at one Breitling store about the new GMT Bentley, and he said they were supposed to have it 6 months ago, but are still waiting. Which I thought was strange since it has only just been released at Basel, but he said that we were supposed to get it early here. Price around $11,000 AU. Even saw some Franck Mullers at one place, which I must say look worth the $10-20,000 price tag. I doubt the reps would look anywhere near as nice. Saw some IWC's too, including the big pilot. Now that this lives up to its name being big. Anway, all in all, a nice day off work.
  19. The PO must be a good rep if people can only speculate that is is probably a rep!
  20. I miss NY, had a great time when there.
  21. Here I was thinking the biggest priority on the net was porn
  22. If it were not for the public holiday tomorrow hence we can't do anything about it, you could have let one of us that are not insiders know... put a bit into longer term options, if they have them, make a killing that way. Recently with one financial company in the states - was it Bear Stearns? Anyway, there was large activity on the $30 put options when the stock was at $60 - cost was around 30 cents per option. Once the stock hit $2 a share, those options are now worth $28 each. Not a bad weeks work for someone. Wish it was me, but wasn't. As to insider trading, never studied the Aussie market really, but you almost can't get caught back in NZ, a few years ago the PM at the time when the national airline was about ready to declare bankruptcy, announced on the news to shareholders not to sell. This was right at the time the airline was in negotiations with the government about a bailout. Lot more to it than that, but had that been the states, she would have been sharing a cell with Martha Stewart. As i said, not sure about enforcement over this side of the pond though.
  23. Not that I like this particular watch, but can you adopt me anyway?
  24. That AR coating is looking mighty tempting...
  25. If a watch looked like a diving watch that had a zero water restance rating I would still wear it if I liked it. Of course, there is always a possibility of needing the water resistance, so even though I never get in the water unless showering, I will keep wearing them thank you very much.
