  1. Mike, that pic just reinforces in me the determination not to buy a yellow watch.. Well to each his own, it would go well with your Sicilian personality I guess!
  2. +1 In another word, accumulating good Karma. Thank you kindly.
  3. And you got my thanks and respect mate. I remember you're always one of the first few to offer your hand in stuff like this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. What they really mean is: instead of having workers sit around in a dusty room to assemble the movement, it is now assembled a dust-free room: an improvement.
  5. Hello guys, Yes this is the one and the same Mike on a Bike was talking about. Lets continue the discussion from here. Mike and I have decided to raise some funds for our fellow member Hambone. We are in regular communication with Hambone (Eric) for the past few months. Eric had the misfortune of contracting a disease of the liver, which is incurable, and his health has debilitated enough to impede any realistic employment opportunities. Eric's dad has also recently been diagnosed with bladder cancer. So it is a case of the ill trying to give care to the ill. I can imagine that it would be a very onerous, difficult and painful time for Eric. As such, I am going to organize a raffle for our fellow member Eric, with the guidance and support of Mike (on a Bike) I am reaching out to the charity, kindness and benevolence in each one of you, to support me in this event. While we walk around with nice and impressive timepieces on our wrists, let us not forget our less fortunate brethen. We are not a charity, but we are charitable folks with big hearts. Buy a ticket at the upcoming raffle, help a fellow member out, and stand a chance to win some nice watches. For members who are contributing watches for sale, or wish to contribute watches please send me a PM with the details. I will be donating $5 for every raffle ticket purchased, to Hambone. Lets not make this about pity, my fellow RWGians, but about kindness and compassion. A little from you, would go a long way for our fellow member in need. Thank you very much in advance, and stay tuned please.
  6. There are other questionable trades associated with this member. Just do a search and you would see. I am very disappointed to see a negative feedback left for my friend AJ, who obviously does not deserve one. AJ, please get in touch with a mod to get your feedback cancelled.. it is possible.
  7. +1 to what sul said In fact, try not engage the chrono unnecessarily.. even on genuine watches, they could be a delicate part of the watch. I have witnessed a genuine AP ROO gets its chrono function damaged when the silly owner forgot to stop the chrono before pressing the reset button.
  8. The only 1:1 watches are the genuine ones. In fact, I do not approve of this misleading term used by the rep dealers to market their products, especially to buyers of little or no experience. There are very excellent reps by the forum standards, yes. There are good reps which are passable by the same standards. Of course, a lot of reps are just plain crap and to be avoided by any self-respecting rep afficionado. By the way, I am from Singapore too. Welcome my fellow enthusiasts to a very nice forum for watches!
  9. I have spent a little time looking at the RM reps.. what bothers me the most is the datefont. Its a dead giveaway as the date window is placed in a rather prominent part of the dial and relatively large vs other watch brands. I think that the RM052 skull is a decent rep though, only thing is, are you comfortable wearing a rep of a $500k watch? .. to each his own, but I would not buy the RM reps right now, until they are further improved. Just my 2 cents.
  10. I think you are right. I asked Josh from Perfect Clones about this, and he confirmed that there has been no change to the Daytona sec@6 movement. Meaning, no "new and improved" movement.
  11. First post! so welcome to RWG newbie. The genuine IWC 3799 Top Gun is a double chronograph model as you may already well know. I owned the genuine but sold it, very nice watch but I outgrew it. The replica is very well made in my opinion. Don't believe the 1:1 hype too much for whatever you buy. You would be happy if you can get a 0.9:1 replica. What to mod would depend on how far you want to take your watch into gen territory, and how much money you are willing to invest. For genuine IWC parts, try PMing Concepta, and nicely explain what you need. He may be able to help you.
  12. Its a robust looking watch for sure, and very accurate to gen, from what I can see. It is one of the watches that look good on its own, rep or not. Its a winner in my opinion, and one in the many exciting releases by PT.
  13. Welcome to RWG my fellow Singaporean member! Stay and learn and grow to be an integrative part of the community. Its a great place to hang out and you'll love it.
  14. whatever the case may be, lets show some respect to the deceased and his family. Even if Mr Hoffman's demise is a consequence of a lack of self-discipline, or whatever, he has paid the price for it already. He was a man who lived and breathed and was good at his job as an actor. Regarding his personal life, that was his own affair and not for us to judge, unless we were intimately acquainted with him.
  15. Its a helluva watch now mate, wear her well, and congrats!
  16. sites that offer rep sunglasses should also offer canes for the blind and maybe guide dogs. Ok I was just kidding, and while most rep sunglasses do offer UV protection now, some still do not. genuine sunglasses are not expensive, unlike the price disparity between gen and rep watches. You might wish to reconsider.
  17. I pre-ordered this too, and am still waiting for QC pics. I have tried the gen on at a secondhand shop locally, and looked at many pics of the gens (and rep) of this model. I am happy with the rep at this moment. Some members over at RWI has mentioned that the date font is off, but if you do your research, you would find that there are variations in the date fonts on different batches of the gen. This is a very nice looking rep, and should be a winner on the wrist. Please post pics when you receive the watch!
  18. I remember his stellar performance in MI:3, and that was the first movie I noticed him in. When someone dies, he has essentially paid for whatever he has done wrong in life. Lets not judge him further. RIP Mr Hoffman.
  19. Yes I feel for you. But I think Josh is going to come through for you in the end mate! Meanwhile, feel free to vent away here! It's part of why we join RWG yes? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Though I do not have the watch, I can tell you from experience that this would weigh lighter than the gen counterpart, because of the different amount/density of gold in the case. On the wrist, this is not a concern though. I doubt anyone can tell the weight of the watch by looking. The greatest tell on this model is from the back, due to the see through caseback. The gen and rep movements look miles apart. On the wrist, this watch is accurate enough for me.
  21. Very nice, and my only gripe (as with the gen) is that the dial design appears a tad too classy vs the 42mm ROOs. The dial and hands accuracy are definitely better than the previous generation ROO reps though! The RG/Ceramic combination is stunning as usual. Beautiful watch, wear her well!
  22. Actually, I would like to say this, with all sincerity a. It is indeed the Chinese New Year festival now. The factories have been closed for a few days now and would be open maybe close to mid Feb. Josh was not lying about that. b. I understand that Josh could have considered the amount of business done with your family, if it was substantial, and helped you out a bit more, in your opinion. c. Neither you nor Josh is responsible for the custom hold-up to be fair. He did his part by sending the goods, you did your part by paying. Such issues occur from time to time with customs, with this hobby that we indulge in. We have to just be calm and live with it. Open and non-aggressive communication with the seller helps sometimes, bbut not always, as they do not control the customs too. d. It is fair that a refund be given upon receipt of goods, much as I do not like the arrangement either. At the end of the day, we have to be prepared for all such contingencies if we want to play this game. We need to deal with QC issues, possible scams, wrong or missing items, member to member sales disputes, and yes, customs issues!
