  1. Thanks for posting. Very nice article to read!
  2. Gen time today! Was thinking of one of these: Lorenz Theatro Chrono Oris Big Crown Telemeter Chrono
  3. Looks very nice, T! I'm also curious to the shape and size of the hands...
  4. With reps I've learned to live with some occasional flaws. But QC is very important to me. I won't except watches with dust inside, scratched hands, crooked parts or malfunctioning movements. These I will send back immediately or I ask for replacement parts if it's not too difficult for me too replace myself. So yes, I'm picky In your particular case I would ask the dealer to send a replacement dial, replace it myself and get rid off the dust in the process. If you're not skilled to do it yourself look for a local rep friendly watch smith and ask the collector to compensate your additional cost OR return the watch for a new one.
  5. These are the kind of watches that really make me drool - even though they wouldn't fit my mostly casual dressing style. The JLC Master Control is also a watch that I've hardly seen a decent rep of. The one that comes the closest is hxxp://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1566, but unfortunately it's missing the blued seconds hands.
  6. To me this is THE ultimate dress watch. Understated, classy, elegant.... you name it. Freddy, would you happen to have more pics of this beauty?
  7. I found this offical government instruction guide (=Dutch) hxxp://archief.om.nl/beleid/beleidsregel.php?rid=306. From what I read in this article I understand that if they catch you with a collection of reps in your posession (not only travelling, but also at home or at a GTG) these are the consequences: 1. 3 reps for your own use are tolerated; 2. a total between 3 and 200 reps is seized and you'll get a fine depending on the size of the collection (E 250,- - E 1.700,-); 3. more than 200 reps are seized and you get prosecuted. Importing and exporting (post/courier/cargo) from/to outside the EU is not tolerated at all. Goods will be seized and registered in a file. If they seized more than 10 reps (even if it's in different packages) the copyright owner can also file a civil suit. Apparently with less than 10 reps seized they can't...... Trading, selling and/or advertising to sell is also not allowed.
  8. Indeed I have read more articles like this. So it seems that you still can bring a maximum of 3 reps for your own use through customs. But I still would like to know what the official rules are about possessing replicas. Couldn't find any official documents about that.
  9. This looks like poor QC. Why haven't you sent it back to your collector for replacement?
  10. On this pic the font seems clear white. Did Panerai change this back after the yellowish font on the H-series? Awesome watch, Gianton. Wear it well!
  11. You can't just give the model numbers only. We want pics! We want pics! We want pics! We want pics!
  12. The old batch 'ultimate' 111E from Angus doesn't have superlume. The lume on mine is very poor. I believe the 'ultimate' 111H does have Superlume.
  13. The differences in countries about the legality of reps have been exstensively discussed in a great topic started by Pugwash last year.
  14. The shape of the 6, the position of the L Swiss Made L, the A's with high bar and the crown/CG make me think it's gen. But still hard to see with the lighting and the angle...
  15. Some of us also have gens On Angus's site the ultimate 111H is $228,- excl. shipping, but it's out of stock. Good luck!
  16. Due to the strong lighting and angle a bit difficult to see, but this looks to me like a gen.. As far as I know all the standard rep sandwich dials are the same. Only Davidsen has/had some that are less deep. Here's a pic of the 'ultimate' E from Angus. It has a 'filled' sandwich dial, which is correct for the E-series.
  17. The double layer with "hole" numbers is called a sandwich dial. The 111 has this dial starting from the H-series. The older series (like the 111E) have a sausage dial which basically is a sandwich dial that has been filled up. Only the contemporary Luminors (and the Historic Logo models) have the lume over the dial.
  18. TWP is temporarily away on leave.... Also due to his personal circumstances his latest work (some will say all of his work) was not really impressive. If you prefer quality over accuracy Davidsen could be an option, altough he seems to be out of stock on movements with swanneck. If you prefer accuracy DON'T buy any H-series 111. All the mods in the world cannot improve the various flaws in the dial and the wrong CG (different shape than pre H-series CG). A more accurate option is the 'ultimate' 111E from Angus (currently out of stock). This is a pretty good rep out of the box. You will only need additional reluming by The Zigmeister.
  19. A year ago (this was an old thread) we didn't have Homer, UKwatches and Eurotimez. Lucky for us things have improved for the EU
  20. MONDAY PAM088 on brown TWB croc @Golfman: I won't hide this one from you anymore
  21. STOP!!??!! O well, we gotta live with this. Please show us more!!!!
