Wow, you definitely bit off a lot for your first build. My first was a simple 3 hander, no date. Congratulations on a gorgeous build. IMHO would look brilliant thrown on an oyster bracelet.

Hi all, I have set my sites on the next watch I wish to add to my collection and unfortunately for me I have chosen quite a doozy to find. My heart is rather set on the old MBW Patek 3800 and I'm wondering if anybody has any advice for tracking these down besides sitting around waiting for one to come up for sale. Hi All, Now I haven't been around for a while as have been busy and strangely (for this hobby) content with my daily wearer a 16610. There is just one thing that has been annoying me compared to my other vintage rolex watches, the lack of lug holes. Now for cursory research it appears that this would be accurate for a 2001-2003 Rolex 16610. I was just wondering if anybody knows where in the community I'd go to find somebody to drill the lug holes out properly and what it would set me back. Thanks all, HaydenM

I know a few people who are quite similar, men who are definitely not short on cash but would rarely be seen on the weekend looking like they're worth a percent of what they are. Sales staff certainly have to be careful with judging too quickly, nowadays more than ever.

I'd be cautious with a first poster claiming to know Trevor Pilkington, could well be legit but it's always best to be cautious in this hobby.

My daily wear is now a rolex 16610 that I really enjoy. I used to wear a 1016 but found myself loving the timing bezel. Now could I honestly afford the watch? Yes, but my god I wouldn't want to. I have a brilliant watch that does 99% of what the real one does for about 6% of the price of the genuine version. I personally only really agree with the FWFFP argument with shitty fakes that some [censored] decides to overtly flash around to look like a big-shot. In all honestly nobody really cares what's on your wrist near as much as the blokes (and occasional lady) around here. I've had more comments on the pen I write with each day than I have my watch.

Looking closer at it there's no chance. You've posted what appears to be a minute repeater tourbillon with a hand engraved case and hands, perpetual calendar, centre date (though even more complex as it has a jump mechanism), enamel dial and from looking it up it has another dial with one of the most complicated complications you will find. I find this sort of thing worse than asking who has the best rolex. Ten minutes of reading will tell you that you cannot recreate a 1.5 million dollar watch in rep form

Can't see that happening sorry. I'd avoid the complex pateks like the plague personally. They're the most obviously fake watches out really.

Bit late now for you but I used dial dots (or I think mine was more like dial tape) to secure the dial to the movement and honestly it worked fine. It's perfectly in line to my eyes and works fine.
