  1. I've got a 192 that I wear on various leather straps. When I purchased it, I passed on the opportunity to buy the Ti bracelet, as I prefer the look of leather on Pams. I know that particular bracelet is a hot item, but I am wondering if the genuine ever came with a matching Tantalium bracelet? In all my research, I have only come across gen 192s on light tan colored straps. Even in pictures showing the entire box set, there only seems to be the leather and rubber straps included. If there is no 192 bracelet for the gen, then why is the rep version so sought after? And BTW, if someone could point me in the direction of an accurate aftermarket 192 strap (deployant) it would be appreciated!
  2. This is the one for me. Beautiful piece!
  3. Sure wish they would rep some of these vintage Navis.
  4. 50 years worth of Navitimers and the Big Bang is more popular?
  5. Its not like the 28k movement is any more accurate than the 21k. The gen PO beats at 25.2k, so neither is accurate.
  6. The hole in the case is bigger than the threaded tube. Gorilla glue or epoxy is the best bet.
  7. I have no problem with them either, but back in those days they were putting them on Les Paul copies . Anyway, it was about that time that some very good copies started to come out, and was probably about the same time when the quality of the originals started to slide as well.
  8. Speaking of Daytona's, saw this one in a magazine yesterday and thought it looked very cool!
  9. Hey man, nice review! Thanks for taking the time to share
  10. I've never really had the cash to invest in an expensive guitar. When I started playing in the early 80s, you had the quality Gibsons, Fenders, etc, but all the reps were junk. Plywood construction and bolt on necks were the norm. In the mid 80s there was a company called El-Degas that started making some pretty decent reps. I bought a black Explorer with split coil humbucking pickups and a very cool case. I still have it, and the quality and sound is wonderful, more than I can say for the white Kramer/Harrington semi acoustic that I bought several years later.
  11. Good point. Looks gen to me but the pics are so bad that its hard to make a positive conclusion. I cant even tell if the subdials have hands on them.
  12. Both these models appear to be early to mid 1990s gens http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_detai...ndrider_73.html http://www.farfo.com/menswatches/Page1/bre...ngtriplett.html
  13. Its starting to grow on me. Nice pics as usual TTK.
  14. Without pics its hard to comment. I'll wait until you post some.
  15. Great pic and collection BT. A great example of quality over quantity!
  16. I recall that transplanting the gen crown and tube has already been attempted by a member here. The rep tube is pressed into the case (no threads), and the gen tube is threaded. Problem is that the gen tube is smaller than the hole in the case, so you have to glue the tube in to the case. The member that did this previously never posted pics of how the transplant worked out however.
  17. Most people here have at least a half dozen watches, so unless you have a winder your solution just isn't practical. This problem is fairly widespread, and the dealers are aware of it. There are a lot of people around here that have these and only wear them once or twice a month, so obviously these will last longer. But, I will guarantee that if you use these things regularly, the threads will strip. Its just a matter of time.
  18. If you have ever visually inspected the threads on the inside of the crown tube, you will understand why this problem is so widespread. The threads are very small, and they are not cut very deeply in to the tube wall. It really doesn't take much to strip these, even if you are careful.
  19. It seems like a "Bright" morning to me...
  20. Yes, I shortened the stem on my black version. As you can see below, the result is visually identical to a normal PO. Just forget about swimming with it. BTW, the reason that you can not see threads is because they are inside the tube on the PO.
  21. Friday night and the mini fiddy Wore this to work today
  22. Chief, I can't help but notice how good your date font looks! Is it a gen datewheel?
  23. Hey Takashi, its good to see you here my friend.
  24. Easy to change straps with a springbar tool or tiny screwdriver. There is no heritage rep, and you can not put a leather strap on anyway.
