  1. I don't pay a lot of attention to what goes on at RG Ken. Bottom line, whatever his intentions, he was right and there is one less scammer in our midst.
  2. I think if you read from page 1 of this thread, Edge never stated that the strap ever arrived or that it was fake. SQL posted a quote from RG that stated that. Edge admitted that English isn't his first language and explained that he was simply trying to explain that the "gen" strap that he never received was likely a rep as it is 1 to 1 and is impossible to determine authenticity from a photo. As for packaging, thats a valid concern. All the guys that I know that sell genuine Breitling parts are generally including the genuine packaging. That is how it comes from the manufacturer, and if it doesn't have that packaging neither party has any proof that the part is genuine.Heck, you could offer to sell me a dozen rep UPO straps at a good price. Could I just turn around and sell them as gen just because I took your word for it?
  3. It is very much our responsibility to keep an eye on scammers. After all, it is US that are driving the rep makers to produce more accurate watches. If we do not police Ebay and other watch sales forums, who will? WE are the only ones that have the knowledge to spot and report these guys. Every time I see somebody get burned for thousands of dollars buying one of OUR reps, it makes me question our hobby a little bit.
  4. Here's the thing about what SQL was doing. He's selling decent rep straps to guys on gen forums who really have no clue ast to what goes on in the rep world. I would guess that he could sell 25 straps before someone got wise to him. Then he just makes some BS excuse and quickly refunds their cash. He's done a good job of flying under the radar, but that just leads me too believe he was doing this a lot more than any of us suspect. To you guys that were (and still are) picking on Edge for bringing this to light, go f_ck yourselves. I don't care how long SQL has been here, how many friends he has, or how much he has contributed to this community, he a piece of $hit scammer. We do not need guys like that around her and we certainly don't need to be persecuting the guy that brought him to our attention. To the admin team I say "good job"! There was no need for a rush to judgment in this case as there was no immediate risk to our members. Better to get it right the first time.
  5. Well said OS. I wonder if we would even be having this discussion if this was a relatively new member? Telling scammed members to contact SQL and work out a resolution is just BS IMO. Essentially we are doing absolutely nothing!
  6. As far as I can tell K2222 used a Panasonic camera right up until he disappeared. SQL is using a Sony DSLR.
  7. I try to stay clear of the dramas these days but it seems quite evident that sql_pl has at least attempted to sell rep products as gen, and in at least one case he has succeeded. No matter what the "status" of the member, he should be banned immediately. I'm sorry but this kind of behaviour can not be tolerated. No second chances here, I really don't give a $hit whether the transactions took place here or not. Somebody on the admin team needs to step up and do what's right!
  8. Only thing a knife on the crystal will show you is that your AR is scratched
  9. Red, I think its pretty clear that people here and on other rep forums are very informed as to the "tells" of replica products. The gen forum guys really aren't as informed as to subtle differences and for the most part, rep products can be passed as gen over there fairly easily. If he had tried posting a scam sale here he likely would have been found out in minutes. Thank god that we have rep guys on those gen forums because I think this kind of thing would happen a lot more if we weren't there.
  10. Have you tried contacting your dealer? Doesn't hurt to take it to a watchsmith and at least get an opinion. You are always free to sell it at a discount, there are a lot of guys here that are capable of repairing it.
  11. A rep that does not use the same movement as the gen will always be a poor rep. In this case notice that the subdials are more inboard than on the gen. Also note that the gen has two chrono hands while the rep only has one. This is a big giveaway. The build quality on this one is not very good either, most notably the blobby pearl, non AR'd mineral crystal and inaccurate crown & pushers. On the bright side, its only $105 and the quartz movement will last forever. If you like it, go for it!
  12. I looked at their video history and they did two in 2009, none in 2010, and one in 2011, so I can only assume that those costs went towards that one video. Nonetheless, for a million dollars, its a bargain given the kind of exposure it generated.
  13. No, $90K doesn't sound like a lot. But, add that to the $360,000 for film production and the $178,000 for video equipment, and thats a pretty pricey 30 minute clip. No problem, because its handy that the videographer just happens to be on the board of directors. Hey, I'm not saying these guys are good or bad, just don't go putting your donations in an envelope based on one viral video. I'm going to predict that we are going to be seeing these kinds of films turning up quite regularly in the near future.
  14. Thats the problem with these kinds of things. The vast majority of people will believe anything they read on the internet, and a slickly made video that has gone viral that deals with the exploitation of children is even more believable. What happened to fact checking and multiple sources? When you do your research you will find that this Invisible Children group is on of the poorest run charities when it comes to putting dollars in to action. You will also find that on multiple occasions they have lied to make their case more compelling. Is this a worthy cause or not? Hard to say because we have no facts we have no idea what Invisible Children's action plan is? Are we really going to start taking military actions based on page hits and facebook likes?
  15. Okay, didn't Breitling show up???? Thanks for posting this, very entertaining! And I have to ask, did you wear a rep?
  16. So which is your favorite Gran? That Concord looks pretty nice!
  17. Actually the 18 is lined up with the 19. I agree, it probably doesn't line up somewhere though.
  18. New Chronospace rep out today! Looks decent, but look at the wrong colored datewheel! Really????? Gen
  19. The Gen Another bad Breitling rep in my opinion
  20. Not to sound cruel but it never ceases to amaze me how poor the building standards are in these places that are prone to tornados. So many trailer parks and wood cabins seem to get absolutely pummelled. Don't they have bricks down there? Shouldn't the building code be strengthened to be able to withstand these storms?.
  21. Would like to see some decent pics of this. The rep Seawolf was very accurate, and with AR and a gen dial is virtually identical to the gen. As this guy claims to have tossed the box and papers, I'd be very careful. At $2000, I'd say its probably a little overpriced considering the lack of packaging.
  22. If you are thinking of the same watch supply place I am, the one in Mississauga, just call them and ask for the asian 7750. Its about $100 as I recall, but I have no idea if its 21 or 28k.
