If its a watch that will be worn occasionally, the coating will hold up for some time. Problem with these is that if you bang it of something or change straps frequently, you are going to get scratches that you can't polish out. Over the long term you will see the gold fading at the crown and between the lugs.
I was on Breitling.com and noticed that the 2004 7753 Tricompax is now gone. So I am guessing that if we do ever see a decent rep it will be of the uglier B01 version with the ugly white on black date and the applied wings. Still a nice watch, but a big step bacwards from the 7753 IMO.
Both you guys have done an awesome job. Just a shame that the factories cant do the same and put together a decent version with parts that are obviously already available. Pete's Old Navitimer is definitely the way to go for franken builders though!
Its funny how guys like to play broken telephone. Here are Angus' exact quotes...
From this thread it seems to me that Angus really knows nothing except that at one point the idea of a 7753 Navi was discussed. We already knew that as I discussed the idea personally with Josh when the A7753 first appeared. The result of that discussion was that no 7753 Navi would be produced due to the fact that there is no easy way to advance the date. Get over it guys, there is very little chance that this is going to happen, especially given that the gen 7753 Navi is a thing of the past. These guys would be better to do a Super Rep of the vintage Old Navitimer.
And now the new colts...

I would have probably tried to age the look of the hands to match the dial lume. I know some modders were using coffee, others cigarette smoke, to do it. The lume on the hands just looks a bit to fresh for the watch. Who cares that they glow brighter at night, thats a bonus in my eyes.
BTW, has he painted the subdial hands black? Hard to tell from the pics, but if he has, its an excellent job.
Yeh, but Monito refers to the v3 as having the sunken datewheel. That is actually V4.
V1 - stickered subdials
V2 - the good one
V3 - Recessed subdial & bad sliderule
V4 - Sunken datewheel
But, I digress. The V4s actually came with the fighters caseback when it was released, then later with the A23322 (tricompax) caseback. Although both are wrong for this particular dial, the A23322 caseback would be far more accurate.
Great build! What caseback do you have on it?
Now why can't the factories build this f_cking watch??? All the parts already exist, they just need to put them all together!!!
That is actually the best model that has ever been made, the V2.
V1- Similar to yours but subdials had lame stickers on them. Perfect sliderule, non-recessed subdials and no sunken datewheel.
V2- They got rid of the stickers on the subdials
V3- The subdials were recessed (there shouldn't be a lip around the subs on this model), slide rule doesn't align
V4- All the flaws of the V3 but with the sunken datewheel and more recent versions have incorrect caseback.
Doesn't need it, the B01 date is adjustable through the crown. I have no doubt that they will rep the Navi 01 one day soon, but I guarantee it will have a sunken datewheel and more than likely just be a re-dialed version of what we have now.
Saw this while surfing today and thought I'd post here for anyone that may be interested. At $99 for a 7750 powered watch it can't be beat! The site is a7750.com.
