  1. Those middle taps would fit right into the PO case. On the regular Seamaster cases, there's no hole for these taps. Therefore, inorder to get the straps to be flush against the case, I had removed the taps.
  2. Thanks MVB ! Hey, what do you know - my first mod ! Again, many thanks for doing some mods on this bad boy. It looks awesome, especially with the rubber straps.
  3. Thanks. The problem with these rep straps are that they were made specifically for the POs. These straps have a middle tap that would fit right into the PO case - thus, preventing the strap from moving. I had to remove these taps from each of the straps to get the straps flushed against the case. If you look at my last pic - notice how I used threading needles to secure the straps. These straps do not have any type of end-links to secure the strap from moving.
  4. Yep - Had to cut off those middle taps to get the straps flushed against the case. As to keep the strap tight between the lugs - check out my last pic - I used threading needles from one end of the strap to the other end - just as if they were endlinks. If you found another solution - I'm all ears.
  5. As many GMT owners are aware, the bracelet for this watch isn't the best. I was able to get a set of Omega rubber straps from Josh. So I went ahead and swapped out the bracelet with the straps - and what a huge difference, especially with this watch. Here's some pics:
  6. Another great review By-Tor. Beautiful watch - glad it's finally getting noticed (as well as finally getting the details of the watch finally right ).
  7. Someone is in the holiday spirit ! Great X-Mas present Joe ! Work your magic.
  8. Rolex, Omegas, they're all the same, huh? I plan on swapping out the bracelet with the black Omega Rubber straps - something different for the watch. I did see your thread that you got this from WBK for $95. Can I say what a steal?
  9. Beautiful wrist shots By-Tor ! I read that your crystal has A/R coating - very nice. Maybe that will be the last mod I do on my GMT.
  10. Very nice. Marrick modded by 4th version PO by swapping out the hands with the GEN hands and the moved up the Omega metallic symbol up a notch on the dial. I was thinking about putting the gen dial on as well, but now thinkiing of just having it re-lumed.
  11. Very nice - glad to see that his rep is finally being made correctly - white border over the date field and the painted 8 in the "18". What movement is this? If it's an ETA - get the OEM hands (However, the OEM GMT hand will not fit on the 2836 movement. I had to get a better rep GMT hand from Silix - GMT Review
  12. I believe Silix's version of the PO 45mm is the 5th version. This is the same version that Josh and others had as well - oversized Omega logo & horrible pearl (sometimes misaligned) to name a few. I do not believe, last time I checked, that Silix has the 6th version on their site. Keep in mind that Silix version is a 2836 and the 6th version is a 2824 movement. Hope that helps.
  13. Awesome job Joe. Glad to see that you are back to full strength and great health again - now get crankin on those mods
  14. Awesome job L&T, AWESOME JOB ! Wear it well !

Read Marrick's post about doing some research. There are many members who had their Omegas (various models) modded to include gen parts. Take a look at the Omega section and look at Marrick's projects. He is the King of Omega mods - hands down !

Yep - I heard about the bracelet issue as well. But I thought someone posted about the dial quality as well. Didn't the older SMP have a better wave pattern than the newer ones? I replaced my dial with a gen dial - plenty of waves, plenty of waves .

Mind you, the older Seamasters 2531 were alot better than the modern versions that our trusted dealers carry. I beleive all of them carry the model with the 2824 movement. There are similiarities and there are differences. The 2824 movement just uses the date function whereas the 2836 uses the day and date function. Other differences are the following (thanks to Randy): 2824 is much thinner in profile than the 2836. They're both 11.5"', but the 2836 is 5.05mm in height vs. 4.6mm for the 2824. The 2824 is closer related to the 2892, which is thinner yet- 11.5"' x 3.6mm. Hope that helps.
  18. IMHO - Never trust Craigslist. I guess GAFS hasn't regulated that site, yet...
  19. The Steelfish is an impressive watch. The wife just got me the Ivory dial for my wedding gift. Now I see that Steelfish is coming soon. Damn !
  20. Never thought they make the Steelfish - so had the wife get me the Steelfish with Ivory Dial. But, as far as the most perfect rep out of the box - I would have to agree - can't go wrong with the Omega Seamaster 2531 or Tag Link.
  21. Great first post - an improvement to "Who has the best Sub?"
  22. EVERYTHING and the HOT GIRL behind the counter...in no particular order
  23. I currently have this model going on about 4 months now. Got it off 'ebay for $45 + S/H. It does it's job for the most part. Can be a bit noisy at times - so I just let wind during the day and then turn it off when I got to sleep. Then, in the morning, turn it back on. I have seen better watch winders from different companies out there going for several hundred dollars.
