I'm sure that this has been discussed before, but what is the difference between Mineral and Sapphire crystals? I thought the higher-end reps came with sapphire crytals. I have 2 SMPs that I would love to upgrade with AR coating - but do I go with mineral or sapphire?
Question - wouldn't the 2824 movement do or upgrading to the 2892 that much better? I am upgrading my SMP (from Silix) with the OEM Dial and OEM hands, but with an aftermarket insert, but leaving the 2824 movement in there.
Take the cost of the watch $150
OEM Dial from Ofrei $200
OEM Bezel from Ofrie $150
OEM Hands $50
----------------------------------------
Total $550
That's alot for mods in my opinion, but hey, I just might......yikes, better stop right there before I pull the trigger on these parts......
Glad there's no bid on this one. Possibly 3rd Edition?
Omega PO - eBAY
Had to edit this post because I found another piece of crap PO being passed as a gen. I mean, WTF - First Edition?
Another PO on the Bay
Come on now, you know you have to take easy......instead of 20 hours, cut it back to 16
Glad to see that you are back and making a full recovery. Stay healthy !
Joe - awesome job on the PO. Who needs to spend $$$$ for the OEM Dial when yours looks just as good. I may have to save up for my PO to look just as good as yours.
I've been lurking on TZ for any great deals....some Omega SMP - with the electric blue dial for about $1000. However, I did see the Breitling SuperOcean Steelfish XL - very nice. Got outbid on ebay for it though. Who knows - the search continues.
The bright side about Tourneau is that they do accept trade-ins and sell used watches, where you can negogiate. Ashford and other similiar sites offer the same types of discount that most retailers would offer. The only upside ordering online is that there's no sales tax.
Opinon ? Hell, it's a FACT - best rep outta the box - HE valve in the correct position as well as the bezel insert - you never see those features with today's reps ! Congrats.....if you ever get bored of having two of the same watches, I would be more than happy to take one of your wrist, I mean hand, I mean wrist
So I got me my first Sub - a MBW 16610. Really impress with the watch. I talked to Palp about some of the mods he did with his watches and one of them, which many other members have done, was replace the crown and tube. He informed me that I would need a 7mm crown. So, I did my search on eBay and came up with these tworesults:
Crown # 1
Crown # 2
I am not Sub expert and tried doing my research from other members who did mods, but those were mainly for their vintage subs. Would either of these two crowns work for me?
Like mentioned earlier, Costco will not have the higher end watches on display. I've been to several Costcos in the States and all that is on display are Omegas, Cartiers, Raymond Weils, etc. Unfortunately, no Subs to do some comparisons with my MBW.
Again, their prices are as comparable as an AD. At least at the AD, you can negogiate a bit or even trade in a watch.
I've been living on that site the last couple of days looking to score a gen at a great price. I really like the Breitling SuperOcean Steelfish XL. Saw one on the 'bay for $500 with no reserve. I wouldn't mind picking up a 45mm PO to go along wtih my 42 from Andrew.
I have the 2531 rep with the Gen Dial on it. The rep hands have great lume, that's why I never replaced them. I was thinking about getting the 2554 model, but I already have 3 black watches (Omegas PO, GMT and a MBW 16610).
Unless, I get the electric blue SMP ?!?!?
