  1. Are the hour and minute hands of the 116713 exactly the same size as the 116610/114060? Tia
  2. Gen tube is supposed to be tall: Also look at the 12'oclock marker. Even on the gen it does not look 100% centered.
  3. I believe the taller blue tube was one of the "improvements" on the V2. The gen BB's have the taller tubes that are clearly visible. I dont think its a concern here. The rose logo does seem to be missing a petal or two for sure. Not sure that the 12"Oclock marker is off.. looks ok to me.
  4. What Matt said. Here is an excellent visual tutorial on how to remove and reinstall a BP bezel assembly...but you have to be a RG member to view: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=208065
  5. Mine looks pretty good: However if installed incorrectly, even a gen HEV will fail.
  6. Those BP hands definitely better. Still has some issues. WG Mercedes on the hour are too thin and the lume on the minute is too fat. Tip of sweep seems a touch long too. Other than that, excellent reps. Compared to gen: In conclusion, I'd have to say that the new BP dial and hands are the best. Noob bracelet is the best as is the case/bezel/insert. Without going gen, I think its fair to say that swapping a BP dial into a noob v3/4 case would be the best sub (ceramic).
  7. Don't fret too much about it. Even on my gen subC, there is a gap between the bezel and the midcase.
  8. You should take the bezel assembly off... Remove the insert and reinstall the bezel and press on the retaining ring. You can get it uber tight. Lastly reinstall/glue the insert. Really the only way.
  9. Heres my gen no-date. Look at the hands: now look at the BP: the lume on the BP are fat compared to gen. Now look at the V4 hands: Much thinner in my eyes. Without seeing the BP and the V4 hands in the flesh, I'd have to say that by the pics, the V4 hands are superior. Just sayin.
  10. SEL = Solid End Link I have/had a BP.. Never owned a Noob.. can only go by the pictures... But other than the bracelet clasp on the noob being superior, not much reason to go with the Noob imo. the BP CG's can be slightly altered to be more correct if you are a handy person.
  11. BP has the best dial followed by V3 and V1 From those three pics, the BP seems to have the best CG's, but the V3/$ from what i've heard should be better.. I prefer the insert of the BP in terms of font shape, but the V3 has better depth and is milled cleaner SEL on the V1 is horrid. BP has the best SEL gaps but cannot take 2mm spring bars while the V3/4 can. insert pearl on the V4 is best followed by the BP. V1 is not even close V4 hands are better than the BP
  12. Before I give out any names. Let me contact him to see if he's still in business. Its been well over a year since I talked to him. (I think he's based out of Singapore). He was/is not a TD on any of the boards.
  13. If thats the only issue (the clasp), I would have either asked for a better picture or replacement. Could be the lighting or some polishing compound residue (assuming you mean on the left side of the coronet). The left edge of the fliplock is a touch off too, but nothing a little elbow grease cant fix. I dont need to remind you that expecting perfection on a watch that is 1/20 the cost of the gen is a tad unreasonable. I believe on RWI, if you go through the PP dispute route before exhausting all avenues with the mods, you are banned.
  14. There are allegedly AAA, AA and A grades of rep MB pens. I have only bought AAA and they are superb. Only ball points and rollerballs. Always replace the cartridges with gen or another high quality refill like Monteverde. Not sure what the lower grade reps are like, but the AAA engravings are excellent. Even the laser-etched serials on the clip: It's been awhile since I've bought any but I recall having to specify that I was only interested in AAA grade and was provided a list. Forget about fountains. No rep nib can match the gen quality.
  15. Clarks/ST bezels do not accept gen inserts without some surgery.
  16. Its a good idea to loctite the tube to the case. Do NOT loctite the tube to the crown
  17. Ok great. So its single AR'd. Thanks
  18. ok so the bottom of the crystal is AR's as well?
  19. ^^^risky^^^ But you never know. My guess is that RSC pays a bit more attention to detail than in the past. Not sure one can beat up a rep Glidelock to the point that the obvious tells cannot be distinguished. They have not been out very long so unless it looked like it was trampled by an M1 Abrahms, it would be suspect.
  20. Does the SubC crystal have AR only on the cyclops? Or is the entire crystal AR'd? if so only on the inside? I dont beleive the outside (top) is AR'd
  21. Hey. Whatever works! Good job getting it out.
  22. That robot is friggin creepy!
  23. Not that anyone really cares, but I thought I'd provide a quick comparison of the BP SubC glidelock clasp and a gen clasp. While it's no surprise to anyone that the gen is superior in every way, the rep clasp is not horrible in some respects. I expected much worse. Unless otherwise stated, gen will alway be on the left. First, from the outside, the BP (on the right) is just barely passable to the layman. Apologize for the protective stickers on the Gen subC, but it's a "safe" queen at the moment . Upon closer inspection of the fliplock, you can see the obvious tells. Gen: The gen fliplock has a beautifully rounded tapered coronet that is slightly cantilevered to extend slightly over the scalloped depression, . In comparison, the BP has a rather awkward coronet and little to no overlap. Also note the mismatched gaps on either side of the fliplock. The scalloped depression is also a shallower and than gen: Once open, the deficiencies of the BP clasp are glaring..embarassingly so. The locking hook on the BP is rather wide, the sheen of the emblem background is way off. BP is matte/flat where as the gen has a beautiful sparkly lustre: The gen has deeply engraved emblems and dark grey in colour. Nice contrast to the powdered shimmery background. The BP is terrible. The fonts are off, the swirly emblem is too fat, and the muted engraving is horrid: The hinged locking mechanism on the gen is matte and not overly impressive: The BP locking mechanism has a nice gen-like feel in the spring action and I was impressed. Other than the larger hook, the part is dome very well IMO: The other half of the clasp blade on the gen has the "STEELINOX" engravings and clasp code. appears to be stamped. It's not polished, which is somewhat surprising. Very subtle pebbly surface: The blade on the BP however, is polished very nicely. But, the engravings appear to be laser etched...not cool: Now onto the glidelock teeth themselves, which, I will admit, is incredibly convenient: The differences are obvious. The gen has a nice platinum sheen and nicely formed teeth that are rounded off beautifully: The BP glidelock clasp looks like a part that was made in some chinese sweatshop that also makes knock off Hasbro toys by child workers (oh wait, it probably was). Finish is raw stainless and has not been finished in anyway: When closed, the clasp on the gen has a rather large gap between the first bracelet link and the fliplock. Also, the clasp blades underneath also protrude a bit, which results in the clasp being a bit elevated from the wrist: The gap on the BP is slightly smaller at the fliplock and the blades lie flatter. I think in this respect, the BP is superior to the gen: Likewise, on the other end of the clasp, the bracelet is nicely finished on the gen and the sharp corner at the top is slightly rounded. But you can see the gen blades stick out a bit: The BP lies a bit flatter here, but the corners are relatively sharp. Could use some dremel action to avoid unneccesary damage to the skin of your significant other: From the side profile, you can clearly see that the gen is thinner than the BP. The blades of the gen are nicely curved and if not for protruding a tad, it's a beautiful piece of engineering. The BP is thicker, and it appears to me that the blades are not curved enough to match the top portion. Definitely room for improvement, but not bad for the price. From what I gather, the Noob and/or J12 clasp is "better". I will do a comparison of those if I ever come across any. Now back to work!
  24. For sure . Left rep. Right gen.
