  1. Rolex Submariner 16610. A serie from 1999. Pictorial and review of an "almost rare" Submariner. Dear All, Here is my testimonial of my (our?) grail watch: The Rolex Submariner. Preambule I am 47, nearly 48. Since I was a teen I really wanted this watch. Why? Because of the brand? Because of the look? Because of the recognition? I don't think any of us could say why. It's exactly like guys who are attracted by some cars and not by others. But the big question is: "Why did I wait so long to buy myself a genuine Submariner?" These Subs can be found at 4k $ or 3k€. It shouldn't take so many years to save money and buy one, does it. My answer is "I feel guilty if I go for it and own a genuine!" Well let me tell you, I don't feel guilty at all since I have it home. The watch I am not going to quote the internet for the Submariner Saga. There are tons of reference sites where you can find valuable information. I will only focus on my "version". It's a 1999, A serie. It is presented to be a "rare" one. Why? Because in that year Rolex produced a Flat S Sub coupled to a Swiss dial. According to what I read this is the first Luminova Submariner. Not a Super Luminova yet (SL). On top of these particularities it's also the last without SEL (Solid end links). The bracelet is the famous 93150 (with strips on the clasp). The endlinks are 501b Some pics The crown position. The bezel teeth The Lugs and their holes A little art The crown, tube and guards The date The end Hope you enjoyed this pictorial as much as I did when putting it toghether. I would like to add that I got this one, a full package including the original invoice from the Amsterdam dealer from this seller: www.subgtm.com Not that I want to advertise him or promote him but this guy is truly unique. He sent the watch before he got the money on his account. Enough said about him. Thanks for looking and reading. Cheers Stephane
  2. I don't see anything either I see Superposter But I still look at your avatar with a lot of pleasure
  3. I would say: in all cases, if your watch has not been verified by a professional watchmaker, stay away from water. O rings and gaskets and so on must be there but also must be installed correctly. I've received OTB watches that didn't even stand a wash with a wet tooth brush and the crystal immediately went foggy Only a true professional watchmaker can give you the garantee you can swim with your watch. And I say swim, not scuba dive! My nephew recently fucked his Tissot. If the Swatch group cannot garantee a safe swim, how would our china factories do it? My2Cents Cheers Stephane
  4. Great move BT. You'll love the black, I'm sure. And you might want the WM9 as you love Rolex You must have a Sub!

By-Tor this is not fair mate. I try to stop byuing watches. Come on stop with your great photos.
  6. I wish we never use that Noob term though...
  7. Lovely band. I like it very much Congrats on your efforts to put it toghether.
  8. Indeed Andy. The Noobmariner and the WM9 are both sold by Eurotimez now. WM9 is not a trusted dealer here and has its own website http://www.watchmaker9.tv/products/rolex/submariner.htm The Sub they are selling is more expensive than the one Eurotimez is selling as an MBK and has the exact same case according to our experts here. MBK is not a factory but a manufacturer that assemble watches in Bangkok, Thailand. You can identify the Noobmariner by it's serial number (see here under). That watch is made by a different factory. The watches coming from this factory are called "Noob". They have almost all the main Rolex (YM, GMTII, SUB, ExplorerII at least) Cheers Stephane
  9. Ouch, this thread remind me I wanted to save $ to get myself a true Hi-Fi complete system like in the good old 70ies... With a nice turntable of course! I guess this hobby impeeches me to get one Unless I sell some watches of course
  10. There is not a lot of way out of wearing Rolex But this one is one of my fav non Rolex watch ...and it's modded to the max
  11. Some people should simply not die, ever. Sure he shall be missed, a lot.
  12. Well said b16a2 ! And by the way here is rule #6 of RWG: [6] - Anything discussions regarding politics and/or religion in anyway will be closed or deleted unless determined to be pertinent by admins/mods. So, any further post in the wrong direction will be set invisible. Enough said. Stephane
  13. Please stop posting comments in this thread. This one is for the list ONLY. Next ones will be set invisible Thanks Stephane
  14. Conratulations to THE brothers Cheers Stephane
  15. We are not deleting posts, we set them invisible. In your case, I wouldn't set it invisible though. Why? Because we all need some education on racism. Your comments on Poland and their people are the exact same one that started most of the genocides in the human history. And in my opinion it makes the rest of your post completely useless including your "apologies". Stephane
  16. Thanks Vly ! It's probably the masterpiece of my collection I keep thinking about the gen but with such a beauty...I often hesitate to get one.
  17. Thanks TMG. I love yours too Some nice improvements indeed on the GMT
  18. I got my RepAustria GMT II back today. Of course, the watch is based on a noob case but On top of the case we originaly have: - a fantastic shaped case with great crown guards, - a genuine dial (yes, a gen GMT II dial!) - a genuine insert (Sorry By-Tor it's a Coke one ) - a correct hand stack movement - a fantasticly good bracelet with all correct markings. She came back with ... - a enhanced correct hand stack movement with new gears making it much more solid in the longer term - a wonderfully modified bezel which cliks as per genuine - a incredibly rare genuine crown just like genuine GMT II carries since a while after Rolex introduced the small tube in 2003 Have a great week-end all ! All the best. Stephane

  22. Did you mean Explorer II eventualy ? @ Laz, wow what a great wrist shot I have the black one so maybe if they have sex we might end with a grey Explorer II I'll go with Lani and post a little tribute to By-Tor's possible next project (If you do so mate of course)...
