  1. He should have got the GMT then he would have known the time back home as well as there on 1 watch
  2. I have found the asian 6497 to be a very reliable & accurate movement. No special operating instructions. Just wind until you feel resistance and away you go. Easy to service too Good luck.
  3. I don't think you need an expert opinion on that.
  4. What makes it a Paul Newman, I thought Newman dials had the Art Deco style sub dials?
  5. That's a cracker! I'm well jealous. I really...really do need to find a decent DW dial for my 7753 Daytona, one day
  6. Tip: When you clean a hairspring and don't have it in a drier, gently blow it dry with your puffer. Don't leave it to air dry, this can also lead to coils getting stuck together.
  7. How about putting in a 7753? ....just realised, that's seconds at 9.
  8. Of course next time you tear this movement down you will be servicing that mainspring also Keep it coming, your doing well
  9. Tip: when you work on springs, get a clear plastic bag big enough to put the movement and your hands in and do it inside the bag until you get confident with them. It saves a lot of grief searching around on your hand and knees!
  10. Sounds good, 9145 on the pallets I prefer a grease on the keyless 9501 (being blue you can see better where it is) but the hp1300 will do I go 9010 on the barrel arbour and centre wheel pinion.
  11. Well it's back together and nothing appears to be broken or lost...well done Are you using oil (looks like oil) on the keyless parts? If so what type? And the balance jewels? Keep it coming!
  12. Atleast buying off eBay you have buyer protection
  13. and the incabloc mod will have 0 difference in accuracy, it's a cosmetic modifaction.
  14. Yes the Swiss 7750 is still far superior than the Asian 7750 in terms of reliability and build quality. Watcheden...if it sounds to good to be true it usually is 36,000vph vs 28,000vph The advantage with the more accurate (alleged) timekeeping of the 36,000vph vs the reliability, accuracy and cost of manufacture of the 28,000vph is not enough reason for them to be more common these days. Whether that will change in the future with technological advances in manufacture of the movements and lubricants...who knows? I know of no rep movement that runs 36,000vph?
  15. No it's not a easy mod to do and no the gen incabloc does not fit the asian movement. You will need a skilled watchmaker with lathe skills to achieve this. Search Google for "incabloc mod" all will be revealed
  16. Ahhh, lovely stuff Joey. You have done what I have been planning on doing with my 6200 hands. Did you solder the pieces together? Beautiful!
  17. Yeah, give me a shout if you find one...no rush. Cheers
  18. Shock jewels my friend. They have to come out, be cleaned and lubricated before going back in. There's a set in the main plate and a set on the balance c ock. Discuss it later if you wish but get used to doing it...it's very important.
