  1. That looks great Ubi. Very close to what the insert looks like on my rose 7016. This insert is the original one for the watch. and a 7928 I used to own.
  2. I know the guy who posted that watch. IIRC I think he told me he got some off in price for the dial lume defects.
  3. It's great that George is able to custominze his own watches to make what he feels is a cool watch. His execution doesn't really fit my tastes but great to see more creations like this.
  4. Hey Guys, Working a deal and I was offered a modern speedmaster in trade but it is missing the caseback and the movement spacer. I know these parts are obtainable from Ofrei but my question is the following: Is there interest in Gen Speedmaster parts? I honestly don't know. In essence I'd have the case sans caseback and the movement/dial/hands. The movement is the 1863 not the normal 1861.
  5. i've built two frankens using the Eurotimez MBW case. The bezels on the MBW are slightly thicker then a gen bezel but not by much. Here is the first one and used the MBW bezel assembly. This sencond one used a Gen bezel assembly. both used ETA movements (27XX series) and gen dial/hands/crown/tube/inserts etc. Do be aware though that due to the lower opening in the case for the tube, when you bore it out to fit a gen crown tube you need to be VERY careful.
  6. No problem Arthur. I have seen a few but don't have "documentation" if you know what I mean. Again, thanks for all the comments fellas. she is now firmly in the rotation with my other watches though I'm torn between this one and my gen 7016 when I feel the need for some Tudor love which is a good thing.
  7. Hey Arthur, QUite familiar with our discussions regarding your sub. Is it Stevey that you're sending your sub to? Were you able to confirm that the watch didn't come with those hands originally? PM me if it was Steve if you don't mind. Also, the T in 9315....not certain it stands for Tudor. I've seen many 5513's with 9315T bracelets as well before they used the 93150 on them. Also, if you still want me to find out a cost for a mint 93150 from Bob Richard's I can.
  8. It's a Tudor 2784. Correct for the 9411.
  9. The gen clasps are crap and this is more convient then the original clasp. I'm not a big fan of NATO's though I do have my share of normal 1 piece straps that i wear my watches on. My personal fav's are a grey or a Bond maratac style strap.
  10. Here she is. My 2nd franken in 6 months. Love the Tudor Subs. I'm fortunate in that I've had the chance to meet some wonderful people in the real vintage markets over the years which made this project thankfully pretty easy to complete. I think the overall turn around time for it was about 4 months. So, this project started life when a friend offered me a blue snowflake dial. I thought to myself: "Hmmmm.....You never see any blue dial frankens......" So I decided to build one. The hands and dial were relumed by The Zigmeister. Gotta thank my good friend up north, eddog for the assist! This watch consists of the following parts for those of you who like the parts breakdowns: Gen Dial Gen Hands Gen Crown Gen Crown Tube Gen Crystal Gen Bezel Gen crystal retainer Gen Fat Font Blue insert Gen Tudor movement Gen 93150 bracelet (with right clasp) Gen 580 endlinks MBW Case Rep DSSD clasp As you can see, only thing NOT Gen is the mid case and caseback. LOL!!!
  11. Saw your post with your serial # on another forum. Very strong possibility of them being original based ont he serial. 9411's were stopped in the 96XXX range which puts this right at the tail end of production. They started in on the 76100 right after that. IF you can, pop the back, you might be surprised and find a 2824 movement instead of a 2784. That happened some too as there was some parts swapping around that range. The early 76100's had 2824's but had 9411 casebacks. Just like the early 7016's had a 7528 caseback (even though the 7528 was never produced).
  12. If you want to have it taken care of in OZ you would have to find an accomodating member here to assist.the cost to have it serviced would be comparable to here n the US. Around $600. They could even install a new bracelet.you have a REAL sub. Find an AD that has a parts account and order a bracelet. If it is a good AD they won't charge you a markup. Example: I can get 380b endlinks for my subs from my AD for $50. Not the $150-$200 on the vintage market for used ones. I would not touch it though except to try and find a vintage insert. It is not uncommom for tritium tudor hands to be a different color from the dial.
  13. you didn't do half bad considering the hands are replacements. Interesting story told about the SF service center. Especially the bit about the "tritium" hands. Unless they were used hands they put on th watch (appears the hour hand is missing some tritium) I'd start to wonder. I'm certain they are "original" but would wonder if a yarn was told to make it appear that the watch was recently serviced (I've been through that many a time and unelss there is documentation to back it up don't believe it). Depending on th serial # of that 9411, I'd actually bet that there is a STRONG possibility that those hands are ORIGINALto that watch. The late 9411 snowflakes actually came with Mercedes hands right before the switch to the diamond dial and the 76100 as I have seen numerous examples. If you decide to switch to snowflake hands, you will be looking at around $200 for hands that need to be relumed and up to $400 for a set of original tritium hands. Or you could send your sub to the Sydney RSC as they have service snowflake hands for the 9401 and 9411. A vintage blue insert will run you around $300. I would NOT put aftermarket snowflake hands on that sucker. Would you put an aftermarket bumper on a Porsche?
  14. YOu can use the 2783 and the 2784 in the MBW case. The date wheel placement is also the same. The dial feet are in the same locations but are of different sizes (feet diameter). Also note that if you are building a 9411, a white date wheel is also correct. Majority of the 9411's came with a white date wheel, not a silver date wheel. The 2784 movement used in the 9411 is a high beat movement and is the precursor to the 2824. If using a 2783, it is a 21600 bph movement which is too slow for the 9411 but will work. If you had to choose between the 2783 and the 2824, go with the 2824 for beat accuracy.
  15. Same issues. Got some gremlins runnin around in here somewhere. No issues yesterday or this morning. She ain't happy now. Can't use Firefox at work because of our firewall.
  16. DON'T GET IT T. I got one of those while I wa in China. Same reason. Obviously fake so I had to have it. I got it from the vendor for a whopping $25. It stopped working about 4 weeks later. Savew your money.
  17. IMO his asking price is a bit high for a 9401 with incorrect dial. I have never seen that dial for a 9401. Only the 7016 but that doesn't mean they don't exist. It was found on 7016's from around II 68 to late 1970 early 71 IIRC. Here is one that I owned. That 9401 has a mid run serial. If the dial was replaced at service (with tritium markers) it should be either a snowflake or diamond dial. So, based on what I personally know, either it's a 7016 in a 9401 case (ask to see a photo of the movement) or it's a 7016 dial on a 9401. If that's the case, the dial feet are missing. OR, it's a new service dial variant I've never seen.
  18. ]Elite Deal Seeker Type in Tudor Sub. For pristine condition 9401 or 9411 don't pay more then 3 grand. Rough shape as low as $1500. Normal condition 9401 without bracelet will be around $2000. With bracelet as high as $2500. 9411 will be around the same prices. Expect to pay a premium for an all original blue dial with matching faded blue insert.
  19. Heck, just in parts that Tudor Sub would have gotten well over the ending bid. I forgot to bid on it myself.
  20. Yep, earlier 16570 had the older lugs. Mine did as well. Wasn't till around 2001 I think that they went with the new lug style. The 16550 creame's were originally white dials but when they aged they went to a creame finish. The bezels are also different on the 16550 then the 16570. Mine was just like the one in the link as well. Here's a bad picture of the one that I owned from 1994. You can just make out that the case is a bit darker then the bracelet due to the 904 case vs. the 316 bracelet. Same as the one in the link you posted and your's.
  21. Lani, It can't be a 70's. The McQueen 1655 was introduced in the 70's. The white dial ExpII didn't come out till 1985 with the 16550 (they are the ones that have the dials that turn creme with age). When they went to the new movement (3135???) in 1989 they switched to the 16570 reference. The 16570 has the 904L stainless cases. 16550 has the older 316 cases. The first Rolex with 904 stainless case was the 168000 which was out in 1987 and it still had a 316 caseback. Only the mid case was 904.
  22. Are you sure the Exp II is from the 70's? 16570's were not introduced till 1989. Mine was definately of two different types of stainless. The case and the bracelet. When I got it, it had just been returned from Rolex NY so it was in perfect condition. I can't find any good photos of it though before I sold it.
  23. Lani, What year is your Exp II from? Mine was from 1994. Reason I ask is that your bracelet appears to be the same color as your case in your photos while mine was slightly different.
