  1. I wondered about this.  All the more reason for my method....

Here is the precision I can achieve with etching metal with the pcbx toner paper and foil.  Now please disregard the quality of the finish, as I did not spend time to further varnish the masking.  I just want to show you the precision of the etch.

Is anyone good with Adobe Illustrator or other programs?  If I provide how to etch metal with precision, can someone collaborate with me and help create the vector image?   I suck at software.

I'm absurdly good at Photoshop, but just some minor knowledge with Corel Draw (created templates for amplifier cases/logos).

If you provide the font I might be able to help you after x-mas.

  2. Hello fellow and ladies if there are those as well.  I'm a going to be working on a tudor project and wanted to know if anyone would care to share the approximate size and font of the Tudor caseback (9411-94010).

I have etching knowledge from making jewelry and believe that satisfactory results could be achieved.   I will share the process once I have done it if it is successful.  Both Raffles Time (Ken) and Yuki are out of stock.    I will probably still have someone engrave between the lugs as it's a bit harder to etch small things with precision, but the Tudor caseback should be doable.

If anyone owns a Yuki or Raffles casebook, or original, a few moments with a caliper would be awesome.    In short,  I normally use a very inexpensive but great system using laser toner, and a professional foil that covers the masking.   I also would use varnish with black ink to further protect the rest of the design.   Either Nitric Acid or another formula for the etchant.

I am going to be using a case that is the newer 5513's from Josh Cartel.    The new ones have a nice flat caseback.

They are NOT out of stock. I just received mine. Buy from the eBay-store! That should save you some time... ;)
(and for the price I paid, I'm very-very impressed. The inner markings are very thin laser-ish, but the engravings on the outside have a wonderful font, and deep)

  3. F-i-n-a-l-l-y HR has sent out some goodies.

    2 fresh Seagull 2836-2 clones

    2 fresh  300/1000-dials

    And a branded HR6538

Hopefully this project can continue soon...

Just been thinking, wonder wether the Dark Lord (whose can can only be wispered, not spoken) it the maker of these dials. Or is this art still this raffinated amonst many "unknown" manufacturers.

  4. Decisions, Decisions. Now that the Black Bay Black is available they have gone and muddied the waters by offering the Black Bay One! ...which to order is the question today? or until such time that the PureTime discount code expires:

I do prefer the dial on this Black Bay One and the double pencil hands and the lollipop seconds too... I guess I'm sold.

I agree.. In addition, anyone that notices it and points out that it's a rep, is probably worth nerding about watches with...

  5. As I came to the conclusion that I probably shouldn't start messing with removing the movement etc, even after buying all the equipment I have now halted.

Still waiting on my custom dials, HR has been stalling, They should have been printed next week 1 month ago. Anyways, been swamped by work and decided to set my limits.

Sent out a detailed job description to a modder well-known on forums to see what the quote for finishing the job will be.

Semi LV/ Semi-MOD-strap/Semi-Big Crown says hi. A very confused fellow. A bit uncertain to his identity, still soul seaching.

  6. Regarding the "v2" from Perfect-Clones:

1 NATO much better, could have wished for a denser nylon configuration, like on a thick Phoenix MOD-strap, but... One can not have it all.

2] What does the SS-bracelet look like? Cant find it mentioned in the text, and not in the pics... Included? If so still polished midlinks?

3] And also... Is the crown finally correct? Because on the regular I know that the crown should be all polished, not semi-matte semi-glossy like it is. Maybe that isn't the case on SPECTRE-edition?

  7. No ofense, but is not only nato wich is totally wrong. Bracelet links are also wrong, should be brushed/matt, not shiny/polished like original Seamaster.

Other minor issue is "5" on bezel is also different from gen.

And the big tell if you know where to look, the inner metal ring by the bezel is slightly thinner than gen, the black bezel part looks wider :(((

IMHO, one step forward, two-three steps backwards compared with standard already existing Seamaster rep.

As I said on previous post, this version seems like rushed, not worth.
BraBracelet should be matt....not shiny like original seamaster 300.
"5" on the bezel is different from gen.celet should be matt....not shiny like original seamaster 300.
"5" on the bezel is different from gen.

    Dito...

But you forgot the crown which still is brushed/polished and should be polished/polished, but this has been an issue ever since the rep appeared.

The more I think of it, the more I'm leaning towards the "updated" regular black one. Lume seems really good (which was one negative issue in earlier models). Also the price... 258 USD from Toro..
