  1. Great work on this. Dial and hands look really good. Nice case work as well.
  2. Hello and welcome to the forum. Some good feedback given so far. Mymanmatt is great for building anything DJ or DD. He has build me many watches and two frankens for my wife. PM me if you want some pictures. Daytona's are tough builds and take serious commitment, money and patience. Gold Daytona would be really difficult, but DW did do some gold cases so they are around. Good luck!
  3. Some good feedback. Genuine vintage DJ's are very reasonable. You could also consider having MyManMatt build you one. He has built me many watches and he specializes in DJ and DD. He has his own source for parts and they are gen spec. Generally more in the 1K range though, depending on how many genuine parts are used. Do a search of mymanmatt and you will see some of his work. You can also PM me and I will send you some pics.
  4. Need better pics. In the first picture the coronet looks weird--middle of the crown is skewed. But not in the second picture. What year is it suppose to be?
  5. Very nice reasonably priced alternative. CG's do look pretty good. Some puffy lume and a little aging on the dial and insert would certainly improve the look. Insert is pretty glossy. How is the bracelet? States it is a hollow link. Like to see some pictures of it if you have the time.
  6. @dbane883, C'Mon Man...that is just showing off. What a great trio of watches with awesome inserts.
  7. Trying upload to see if pic works better
  8. @dbane883. Hey you changed the date[emoji106]
  9. Had a great time meeting my PNW brothers today. FYI guys--got a ticket on the way home[emoji107] Go HAWKS!!!
  10. Cool project. I love the 216A, my favorite modern watch by far. The relief gilt dial and bezel/ceramic insert appear to be the biggest obstacles.
  11. Agree with the OP on this. I have a lifestyle that while I work a lot, I have the freedom to spend much time on the various forums via my phone mostly. Definitely sense the different flavor from one community to the next. Some forums I rarely post on because of the gang up mentality and in some cases downright rudeness. The lack of respect to other members and especially newcomers is just unnecessary. Reminds me of junior high, where insecure people gang up on the less fortunate to elevate themselves and make themselves feel better. Even if someone breaks the rules or violates forum etiquette, this can be handled without name calling and a gang fight. Simple to just remove them. I just have never found joy in being mean to others so I just would not participate in that type of behavior. Interesting that we just do not see much of that here. I know we have a lot less total members here, but still, rarely do we see any of this craziness. I think this connects back to what Mike and Pan are talking about. The senior members here set an example for all of us to follow and the example they set is to be a gentleman. So thank you to the members who have formed this community to be what it is--a warm and peaceful place to share with friends. I also am a fairly big/athletic guy who spends time in the gym everyday. I can relate to the fact that I cannot even remember the last time someone was disrespectful to me in person, but just yesterday some guy attacked me on one of the gen forums for no reason. I thought about sending him a PM with an address where we could meet, but the adult in me prevailed and I just ignored him.
  12. Took a moment of silence in memory of the 9/11 tragedy.
