  1. i have NONE of these things yet. HAHA Im not sure how im going to attack this one yet but i will eventually. I found a 2mm bit at home depot but then dont have anything smaller than 1.6mm so im gunna have to chase down a Snap-On truck to get those #55's. Its gunna be some 'trial and error' and im gunna need some old cases to experiment with... Drilling NEW lug holes is gunna be a little tougher than just boring out an existing hole... Lonnie
  2. I have since smoothed out all of the edges with 400 and 600 grit sandpaper and the case sides are now sanded and high polished. its a little dented and wavey but also smooth and shiney. Ive gotten rig of most of that "machined" look as you mentioned Pug. And the case back has now been sanded with 400 then 600. Im gunna high speed polish the back next time i have my dremel out. You gotta make it look worse before it gets better Its a work in progress like i said but its getting there. Im gunna take the sandpaper to the sides of the case again as its not quite as clean as i want it... needs just a little more. im off to work now, so i'll have to play with it tonight when i get home Lonnie
  3. Mine looked good too... It was dead in 2 weeks... I didnt listen to the warnings either.. oh well live and learn.
  4. I'm gunna order 10 of them. Im just waiting to hear back from them regarding shipping.... thanks for the fast info guys!!! Lonnie
  5. The more i poke at this watch the more i am starting to like it. The CG's need a LOT of work and the crystal is smashed on the 9 o'clock side.. other than that it will definatly be a fun project one day Actually... the broken glass looks pretty cool... still water tight for swimming... great dial... vintage case... POOR date mag so needs new cyclops so i can retain the vintage broken crystal... how would i get that freekin bezel off?.... hhmmm... oh god here we go again... Lonnie
  6. ok.. i have searched and searched some more and the ONLY and cheapest 3mm x .3 tap i can find is on Casker for $35 plus shipping. I can find lots of 3mm x .6 on the net for about $2-3 and thats all they are worth. Can someone guide me in the right direction here? Where can i get a submariner GEn size tube tap for a reasonable price???? can someone post here or PM me a website and part #? Lonnie
  7. Do they make an MBW Yacht-master? I've never even seen a Franken-Yachty yet... Build one and review it for us Lonnie
  8. And... thats also why there is a "pearl" on the Submariner bezel insert oyster... pearl... get it? All related.
  9. Yeah im gunna drill out the lug holes.. i LOVE lug holes BUT i have to drill from the outside to keep them centered.. should be interesting.. Lonnie
  10. Yikes!! haha Be sure to wrap the "teeth" on those pliers with some cloth tape or something first so you dont destroy your oyster bands finish
  11. Ive never seen that before but maybe it was some sort of a transitional model? That bezel is too big for the case and that really doesnt look right... someone glued it on or something maybe haha. Nice watch though but i thknkn it would look better with the proper bezel. Lonnie
  12. Yeah thats weird. Try contacting the seller to see if they have a bracelet that maybe has some more adjustment than the one you got. I thought i had small wrists and i still have a full link i could remove and about 3 notches in the clasp left.. Unfortunatly there isnt much else you can do with that bracelet.. sure you could take a "saw" to it but wow... im not sure how you're gunna wrap up that project and if you do take a saw to it, please post pics ha ha Lonnie
  13. Hey guys, this is my FIRST attempt at ever taking macro photos.. They turned out ok i guess... i know the pics are NOT perfect so the "peanut gallery" should keep the comments to a minimum LOL LOL -distressed the hell out of the entire case, dremeled all the edges to round off edges -beat the case and bracelet with a can of nuts and bolts, polished it and repeated process -Modded crown guards inside and out. -Aftermarket bezel insert (sanded to fit perfect) and removed the pearl for the "hardcore look". -Bigger SEL endlinks for something different and solid midlinks on bracelet (keeping orig noob bracelet for another project) -ground down caseback for polished bubbleback look on the old 1680's (work in progress) -high polish sides of case and finish sides of bracelet -drilled lug holes all the way though and gen spring bars (now complete) future mods: -Maybe gen crown and tube just to see if i can do it myself. Not gunna get too crazy.. this is my first attempt at some major mods. After this one i am gunna build my MBW 16610 with lug holes and SEL bracelet.. if i can find the correct case to start with... Then comes a 1680 or Comex (really beaten up) So exciting!! cheers Lonnie
  14. Looks like me, Euno and Freeman have something in comon other than watches... LOL
  15. Tell me what you think!! HA HA HA you can barely see the crown!! This is a "swiss" rep from about 8 years ago. Crown guards sure have come a long way on some of these reps... The dial is very sharp and it still runs great! The crown guards are the funniest i have ever seen though. Bezel is good.. case is garbage. I will keep the bezel and dial and movement for a project one day. This is my first pic i have posted and was more of a test but i thought you guys would like the crown guards Dial is perfect.. all the distortion is on the crystal. Its an old and well worn watch. I know little about explorers but the dial looks good to me. Its very bright and nice black SHARP printing. LOnnie
  16. WOW that awesome! I love that vintage look! The hands look good to me.. and that white datewheel is what would get put in by an AD when you send it for service. I am sure they arnt gunna "age" the new parts to match the old ones. I wouldnt change a thing except that insert. I too have bought from Jewellery Outlet and his inserts are not bad. Get a new insert.. drop it into bleach for a minute then wash it off and see how that looks... Lonnie
  17. New insert is "more correct" especially the thinner numbers
  18. yeah he seemed just plain "stunned" by the quality of the replica. The only flaws he could really point out were the flaws on the dial only visible with a 10x loop and the stamping on the inside of the clasp wasnt EXACTLY like the Gen... haha And i like how he said you could walk into an Authorized Breitling dealer and probably convince them it was real. Not good for us, but still funny none the less! I feel sorry for all the people buying watches on ebay these days especially if they arn't armed with all the kmowledge we have avail here at RWG. That watch would easily sell as a GEN to anyone who wasnt an expert. naughty naughty, haha Lonnie
  19. http://www.ioffer.com/i/Rolex-Submariner-2...rsary--27309461 "Everything on this watch is guaranteed authentic, original, no aftermarket parts here" nice conical rehaut and incorrect crown guards... hmmm..
  20. awesome project!!! Keep us posted with pics!!! I love the look of the proper spring bars and when you can see them poking through the case
  21. Looks pretty good. I would drill out those lug holes to the proper size. then i would a kitchen scrubby pad to it and scuff it all up.. then repolish it... then scuff it up.. then repolish it. You know, make it look old. You could replace the crown with a Gen crown. its a very nice watch as it but i think it looks to "new" right now.. need to vintagize it a bit but maybe thats just me. i like my watches to look well used.
  22. HA HA HA nice work Breitling. Looks like the website guy goofed it up. OR maybe breitling is actually the producer of all the new super-reps and its a big conspiracy or some sort... Maybe thats actually a 6.75 rep with GEN dial haha LOL
  23. HAHA thats the first thing that popped into my head too.. thats funny. Thats a NICE replica... is that the same one that our collectors here would sell? for a low cost Asian replica it looks pretty damn good! Lonnie
  24. Dizzy

    MBW 5513

Its prob because the tube hole in the case wasnt centered between the guards when it was made. I have a few subs and they are all slightly off. I guess all you can do (without having a gap on the side of the crown) is to sand down the outside of the one crown guard...
  25. Yeah my ETA noob is half the month its centered and half the month its way to low I have a correct datewheel of another ETA submariner but im not brave enough to pull the hands and the dial off yet Lonnie
