  1. Hey TT: Glad you got back there. Remember to always tell your relatives, boss or friends you were not there for pleasure, but were there to work and alway at the "Office" Have a great time. Oh, the weather here today, as Nanug says pathetic, 82 F, 10-15 MPH winds, clear blue skys, same ol' boring year round weather.
  2. My personal workspace today. I do a lot of serious business here. Ask TwoTone, he's been in here!
  3. Ship Cruising, that ain't gonna leave you much time to see a lot, maybe choose one thing each island. That's okay, one trip here and I guarantee you'll be back. Suggest you not try to do too much each day, especially with a 4-month-old, just relax and enjoy the scent of plumeria, the outstanding weather, try the beaches and ocean. Maui, Kauai and Oahu have great beaches, Big Island has fairly none. Neighbor island living is really laid back. Oahu - Pearl Harbor, still inspiring and a must visit. Hilo - Not much there, if you have time, car or bus it early morning to Kilauea Visitors Center and maybe see the live volcano. Kona - shopping Maui - Car or bus excursion to Lahainatown or heli ride. I'll PM you. Kauai - Best beaches, most lush tropical island to tour (because it rains all the time!) or definitely a heli ride. Yeah, every Honolulu room this weekend has been booked solid for over a month, three major events have filled the town and not even condo rentals are available, Honolulu Marathon, U2 Concert, and Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.
  4. Pho: 1.275 Million people live in Hawaii, of that 905,000 live on the island of Oahu, shitty crowded traffic. Even Oahu, as crowded as it is, has a lot to offer besides Waikiki and Pearl Harbor. There is the beauty of the island when you get away from Honolulu itself. Waikiki to me is like visiting Miami in the Pacific, (I'm sure you can relate being in S.Florida), its a vibrant city, but its a city and if that is all that you are interested in it has plenty to choose from. If this will be your first time, be a tourist, rent a car and drive around the island, there are also plenty of tours that will drive you all around the island in one day stopping at all the major sites, that way you can get a feel for the place in a short time. Here's one for $58 a head. Then you can concentrate on points of interest and downtown Waikiki later, plenty of night life and things to do, pub crawls, etc. In fact I'm heading over there this weekend for the end-of-Vertigo-5th-leg-tour U2 concert. If you are not into scenic beauty then take a surf lesson, doesn't matter which island, its something you can say you did in Hawaii that, believe it or not, most tourist don't try. Surf & bodyboarding spots abound on Oahu. On Maui we have more windsurf, kitesurf and snorkeling spots. Again, which island(s) are you planning to be on and I can give you more insight.
  5. TT: I sure hope he wasn't stupid enough like he did in the rep. forums to use the same login name on other types of forums. Its a crackup to see where the screen name has popped up posting.
  6. Yeah and some of us remember what happened to him, the laughingstock legend. Which reminds me I did a followup research at JetMidwest and it seems James Dearth was not for long selling / leasing jets as he no longer works there. He had posted also as "jetmid" on car forums where he [censored] off a lot car guys with his bragging about how many cars he had bought and sold and he was only 24, seems to be his MO. I recently checked at Jetmidwest and they are hiring. James is no longer listed in sales and was probably a junior sales rep anyways since he claimed he was given the watch to show him the potential of jet sales and leasing. At the beginning of 2004 they acquired 25 used jets, mostly parked in Victorville, CA. They are now down to 7 jets in their inventory which means that new sales/leasing division they formed in 2004 is about done, also had a change of CEO's since then. His famous brother Chad Dearth is the owner of KCTrends of Kansas City and I suspect the probable source of the final pictures of the Patek. James was born Sept 4, 1979 and should be 27 today.
  7. I believe you have sweeping misconceptions of people's attitudes on life in general. Do all people that hang the roll of toilet paper over the top automatically are pigeonholed as "incorrect"? "all are made to pass as authentic" but all people collecting replicas are not collecting them to pass them off as authentic, because quite frankly, THEY WOULD BUY A SWISS authentic. I don't mod, but I'm sure a very few do this to make it passable as gen., but I think the majority of collectors that mod. only do it as an enjoyable hobby to see how close they can get to "perfection". Its a collection hobby of appreciation for most. A lot of traffic passes through these forums in search of "passable reps buyers" as you say, that's a given, but the people that frequent and post the most are not here for that. If you'd respect the members that are here and look around and read you'd figure out how foolish your views on all our motives are.
  8. daunwaun: You on one hand say "go ahead and rip me up, I don't mind" and obviously when it happens you do. Granted, gioarmani didn't answer your question but it is inciting when you claim that everyone in a replica forum is automatically branded to trying to "pass" their watches off as real because they can't afford the genuine. In so many words, that is a pretty big insult to the legitimate collectors in all the replica forums. Its obvious you like to swim against the tide or you wouldn't keep trying this approach in the forums. By looking down your nose at people means you yourself are insecure and need comfort in superiority. You can claim you are not doing this but I can read between lines and motives. Posting a what sounds like a legitimate question with a few "why are you trying to pass off a $1,000 watch when you can barely afford a $200 watch) seems a bit trite. Ask your questions out of curiosity but stop with the condesending attitude surrounding it. You will reap what you sow.
  9. The whole question of "fake" vs "replica" is not a silly argument, just a personal view for each person, and in a forum, each person has a right to their views. You always hear the word "fake" or "counterfeit" used around pens, handbags, clothing, jewelry and never the word "replica". Why so different for watches? I think it is because when people get into collecting copies as hobbies of appreciation, it becomes more of a metaphor to the art world. Replications of artwork paintings are legitimately bought, sold and collected by art lovers, often referred to as "copies", as long as they are not passed off as genuine (then you will note they are referred to as "fakes" in the press and by the legal authorities). The copies/replicas are tributes to the original artwork and appreciated by the buying public for their appearance. These are displayed and hung in homes not to be passed off as genuine, but for the appreciation of the eye. So tvt consider's any copy of a watch as a "fake" and any reissued copy by the genuine maker as a "replica". That's his view and nobody should roast him for it since it is a compelling argument. But others are correct in referring to the copies as "replica" since they are appreciating them in the same context as mechanical "artwork".
  10. Uziuzi: Yes, saw that RG Bezel version on Wingate's website, 100 special edition, Model 301.SP.131, black dial (although it appears blue in Wingates pic) and case size 44mm. $13,900.
  11. Unconstructive, true, people do not like to look in a mirror and see the truth.
  12. Excellent Detective Work Reg! Had me stumped. I couldn't figure that monstrosity out last night.
  13. Appears to be a Waltham diver chrono from the 1960's. Did you know a similar Waltham is believed to have gone to the moon on the Apollo XV mission on the arm of astronaut David Scott. It could quite possibly have a Valjoux 7736 movement in it. Unfortunately, Walthams did not have the haute horology cache and are not worth much on the antique vintage market, the company going out of business probably mid-1960's. Any new Waltham you see today is not from the original company and are usually quartz. I'd guess this watch would be worth about $100 - $200 at the most on the ebay open market. Non-chrono Waltham divers of this era sell for $70. Edit: I did locate this same watch that sold for $400 from an antique dealer.
  14. A prayer for your loss. Condolences.
  15. It is a fashion brand owned by International Watch Group (IWG) of Hong Kong. Used to be a Swiss Brand but after going out of business name taken over by non-swiss.
  16. Reading his offering do the words "aftermarket" and "faux" give you any clue that these aren't genuine? $89 for two straps and deployant ain't great but not all that bad either. The imprint on the leather looks good from the pics. But I don't know if 20 mm fits a PO since I'm not into that watch.
  17. Beat me to it Admin as I was typing. But here is a link to a full screen version of Part 2.
  18. If I understand Usil's question, it is not a problem of having a link within a window opening up in the same window, it is clicking on a weblink he's saved to his "DESKTOP" that is causing him problems. And standard Microsoft Mouse Programming indeed doesn't allow programming the scroll button past just how it scrolls. Usil, finally found your answer for you, works for IE6 but it should be the same for IE7: Unchecking "Internet Options -> Advanced -> Browsing -> Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" should do what you want. I guess that was lost in the German translation of fxrandy above. Source:(http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/379554.html)
  19. Good, I didn't forget you guys can meet together in Paris.
  20. And if Usil doesn't have a middle mouse button to set..............? Usil, the only reason I can think of is maybe the result of how you have saved the URL shortcut to your desktop. This may or may not help you. From IE if you "File-Save As-Desktop-Save" those shortcut icons will open in their own window. But if you "File-Send-Shortcut to Desktop" those shortcut icons will open in the same window that you have open.
  21. Flatness does help even with lugs at the ends of the wrist, check this out, lugs slightly overshoot but its a very flat design and doesn't feel or look too big, and this is 53mm not including crown.
  22. I have a fairly normal wrist but I've noticed that any larger model appropriateness really is dependent on the case height. To feel comfortable on smaller wrists or on any wrist, a slim case pancake profile design that lays flatter on the wrist will make up for its size. Its an optical illusion but really does work. The rep. IWC FA Jones is a perfect example, they are very thin proportionally to the diameter, 12mm X 42mm but for some reason will look more appropriate on your small wrist than a Panerai Regatta at 40mm X 12.5mm. Try that one, its not that expensive and a very classy design.
  23. I'm not a knife collector but my son-in-law is and I'm always admiring them and keeping an eye out for ones to get him as gifts so I sorta know enough to admire a good crafted knife rather than those built for looks only. Excellent choice.
  24. Damn Admin, you beat me to that. Nasty Thumb, great knife.
  25. Popping Up on Celebrity Wrists...................notice how fickle the public has been to celebs in the last couple of years, fads don't last, classic designs do. Thank the information age for that, we are heading for the Andy Warholian 15-minutes-of-fame futureworld. These flash-in-the-pan styles won't take off, celeb popular watches, remember Ritmo Mvndo a few years back............that didn't take off with the public either.
