The last watch looks good. A special choice by the way, cool watch! I would never have spotted this as a rep in real life. The datefont, is not the usual ETA-font, but not the usual Asian either, cool! The only things that says rep is the applied Chopard-logo on the rotor and the serial number 001/1937.
  2. Pugwash deserted to Twitter, I think. Miss his excellent watch photos and good reviews.
  3. Seems like the old IWC Aquatimer is available again. It is just relisted on Puretime website. This is one of the good older replicas, pre-2005 I guess. I asume the bezel on the rep is still not the "press to turn" as the gen, but I can live with that. Odd datefont.. It looks almost like they finally replicated the Ingenieur-datefont, but put it in an Aquatimer... http://www.puretime.co/product/iwc-2012-02-23-02/
  4. Nice two-tone! That is a variant you dont see very often.
  5. Is the Yuki dial the same as THIS ONE on eBay?
  6. Thanks, I did not know about these guys! :-)
  7. Thanks for the read! I recognize a lot of the same descision-process before buying a watch.
  8. Looks good to me. The pearl on the bezel is low, as usual. Date font is the normal asian 7750. Movement looks ok, the "3300" number is for the tricompax version, think all omega-rep 7750s are badges as this. Dial and Omega-name and logo looks fine. Nice watch.
  9. Thanks for the review! I like how they have developed the design. Especially the nice caseback, which looks a bit like the Tissot Seastar/ Seatouch.
  10. The Mark XVI and Portofino with Asian 2892 are good replicas, but the movement is not as reliable as the 2824/2836- powered watches. The Pilot Chronograph should be ok. Get a preventive service, keep it out of water and impacts and you are good to go for many years.
  11. Nice.. In fact the first Audemars I am tempted to buy.. :-) Closed caseback with good engravings is a plus!
  12. Interesting, thanks! I wonder why the dealers does not offer this with bracelet.. A bit steep to buy the 258 USD Mark XV rep, just for the bracelet. Might recover some by selling the watch, but anyway..
  13. No doubt a good replication, but it looks like a Breitling diver with the rubbercladded bracelet from a Cartier Seatimer.. :-/ Think I will pass this and wait for a good Reverso. I have "enough" divers in the collection. Nevertheless: Cudos to Angus and the Noob-maker!
  14. Too nice weather to be working now.. :-P Have a nice time! C.
  15. Same-same, but different.. I was not too impressed by the last Aquatimer, and not by this one either. They are all variants on the same theme.
  16. Great comparison review! This reminds me of the good old days on the forum, with several excellent posts like this!
  17. Thanks a lot for the great read. Really appreciate that you took time to make this blog. Without doubt one of the most memorable posts on RWG.
  18. Agree on Sinn, Bell&Ross or TagHeuer Aquaracer for the young lad! You might also consider a gen Tissot Aquastar.. Tissots are generally well made and good value on the second hand market! ¨http://www.watchrecon.com/?query=tissot Honestly, no matter how good a replica is, you get another level of satisfaction with a genuine.
  19. Thanks for the post. Good Sunday reading. Wear it well.
  20. Thanks for the review. It is nice to see reviews of the less common brands. The Seagull ST19 really looks good behind the glass caseback!
  21. Hmm.. The replica makers moves in mysterious ways.. I am a bit stunned that this thread seemingly has reached 122 300 views!
  22. Thanks for the journey through the service. Nice to know that even a movement in this state can be saved. In the first picture, I thought "This does not seem too bad"..But in the close up pictures, one can really see that it has been a while since last service. What kind of watch was this movement cased in? There are fewer technical posts these today. Seems like even mechanical watches have become affected by "service by replacement". :/
  23. Interesting info, Tom Hawkes! Thanks Happy to hear that you are happy with your Nomos, "blazed". I came across this interesting post on WUS about the Seagull ST16 movement and its Swiss counterpart Claro-Semag CL-88.
  24. Great post! I bought one of the ebay 200 USD "Multifunction timegrapher"s. It is a fun tool. Rather basic, but for a Noob like me, it does the job. Here you can se readings for an old, dirty Altair watch, Swiss 17J manual wind (Boliat & Flies), and a dirty "Sheffield", with a basic manual wind ETA-movement. If I remember correctly, I wound the watches fully before taken this reading, so the amplitude is rather low. When you have so large deviations, the scale does not adjust itself.
