My cheap Air-King turned out to be one of my favourites. It is a very humble watch, which does not have that "in-your-face" ROLEX look... Very simple and stylish.. Close to the genuine.. And.. It cost me about 30 USD..

Two Breitlings are my biggest disapointments... Some months ago I got a liking for the Chrono Avenger Titanium. As production was soon to be stopped for the titanium versions of the Seawolf and CA, I decided to buy it... Even though I knew there were two versions of it, I somehow managed to end up with the wrong version. I had very great expectations for this.. but my most expensive rep turned ot to be a disapointment, too light and toylight feel, cheap-sounding bezel, bad pearl, wrong date font, noisy 7750, bad "Breitling" engraving on the clasp and not very good dial. The very thick case was also wrong for me. I had hoped to trade it on here in Norway, but those who handle it, says it feels too light.. So much for choosing the expensive "correct" Titanium version.. The white face Navitimer SS is a very good replica, no question about it.. The white face version has the correct black subdials. Excellent datefont, which are not too deep as on the 3-6-9 Navis, excellent metal bracelet and nice feel. But somehow the white face and shiny bracelet did not do it for me. I sold it. However when looking at the pictures I start to regret it.. A genuine black dial, caseback and leather bracelet.. And it would have been a killer. But, at last I got the new 3-6-9 Navitimer on black leather, which is a keeper, even with the sunken date.

Thanks, good pictures, looks as if the PO has become as good as it ever will be! Somehow I still don't feel the urge to buy it. Just personal preferences I assume, there are so many excellent reps out there nowadays!

Congratulations. I see I have a long way to go, but at least this is my post nr 300!!!

4 or 5 for me too. Usually it is the newest additions which gets the most wristtime.

Iyho, What's The Most Perfect Replica Available Today.
chrgod replied to crystalcranium's topic in General Discussion
Yes, thats true. There is an iteresting price issue when the gen just costs about five times the replica.. But still you get the "same" watch, even with the same ETA-Movement for 1/5 th of the price. I have checked out the nice TAGHeuer Indy 500 replica ( Quartz). The rep costs 105 dollars, and the genuine runs for about 400-500 USD on eBay! I belive that TAG Heuer has an excellent reputation among most non-WIS people, (mostly due to heavy marketing)... That is why there are replicas of this "cheap" brand. Oris, Sinn and Fortis are in the same price range, but are more obscure brands. By the way, SBOB; It is available in blue also, at least Ruby says so in her advert at RWI: http://replica-watch.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9894 -
Iyho, What's The Most Perfect Replica Available Today.

I think the most perfect rep, in looks and feel, is this: Plain Tag Heuer Link, impressive, modern looks and "beliveably cheap". The Checkerboard pattern on the dial is perfectly replicated. The Link Chronograph might be just as close in looks and more macho... but the feel when you set the time on the ETA2826 is miles better than on the Chineese 7750. Also, the date is perfect centered in this model, in the 7750-version it is a little bit offset to the right. My Link Review Regarding the Ingenieur.. Am I the only one who thinks the hands are too short on the replica? -
Thanks for the wrist shots. The Chronomat is big, but still classy. The steel looks a bit dull, does it have kind of a brushed finish?

Cool pictures! Breitlings are full of details and subtle styling clues. The brand have started to grow on me in the last months. Previously I have found them to busy, but that is just the Breitling style. The slide rule is actually a quite useful tool, especially since I have a job where we work with both the Imperial and the metric system. The new Steelfish replica will be a nice addition...

Top quality Breitling for me..

Genuine Le Coultre Master Mariner from the early 1960ties. It has a dedication on the caseback, given to FR. James J. Barry in 1963 from officers and members of E 314, upoon 20 years service. Thanks to Pugwash, some of the history behind the strange caseback engraving are probably decoded in this thread. The Master Mariner is a nice classy wristwatch with a quality movement. The Master Marine series was introduced to Jaeger-leCoultres 150 anniversary in 1958. It is a small size, 34mm and was made "For Men who command"

It is time for a little update on my collection. DateJust, Yacht-Master and white Navitimer are sold. Black Navitimer, Daytona 6263 and genuine LeCoultre Master Mariner has joined the crowd. First out, a group shot of mechanical replica Chronographs! Favourites are the 6263 and Navitimer. Perhaps because they are the latest.. The SMP Chrono is nice, but very thick and a bit "busy". A slight disappointment. The Titanium Chrono Avenger was also a dissappointment, it feels cheap... The Link is bought as a Christmas gift for a friend. In this picture, you can also see the different strap/bracelet styles for the popular Chronographs. The Link bracelet stands out from the crowd and is by far the most comfortable of the bracelets! Personal favourites, Navitimer and vintage 6263 Daytona. During Christmas, the six o clock subdial on the 6263 will be frozen. This picture also shows that the 6263 is much thinner than the Navitimer. The Titans! Replica Quartz Chronos: Breitling fantasy, one of my first replicas and one that gets lots of positive comments. Heuer Monza, an old reliable favourite . Omega Speedmaster X-33, an unusual replica quite close to the gen. My genuine mechanical Chronos: Speedmaster Mark II, 1974 Seiko 6831 and Angelus. The Speedie and Seikos are on leather straps for the moments, the vintage steel bracelets from the 70ties are very flimsy. Speedmaster Mark II. The well known Moon watch calibre 861 in a more modern case. The big Seiko Chronographs from the mid-1970ties are great value for money. Classic Angelus manual wind chronograph from 1950ties. For a vintage watch, this has a quite big size, 40mm. This watch was given to my dad by his parents.

Thanks for the clarification, lovepanerai. Five extra gears added to the movement are quite a modification..

TAGHeuer Link My brother wanted me to choose a new watch for him, and since I have had my eyes on the plain Link rep for some time, I thought it would be a nice choice. It is one of the more expensive non-chrono replicas on the market, most dealers price it just below 200 USD, almost on pair with the chronos. My example are from Silix. Replica Tag Heuer Link The replica of the Tag Heuer Link Chronograph has the well deserved reputation of beeing one of the most accurate replicas available today. By-Tor has made an excellent review of this model. The little brother of the Chrono, the WJF2110 (black), WJF2111 (white) and WJF2112 (blue) have not recived much attention around here, so I thought it was about time to make a review. The Link is a sporty watch in what I would describe as "upper middle class" of watches.. The plain Link is like a BMW 3-series or Audi A4, while the Link Chrono is more like Audi TT or Nissan Z.. It is a very belivable replica, a Tag is often bought by people who not necessary are into watches but just want a stylish watch of a well-known quality brand. Genuine and replica. This genuine has a polished bezel. Size comparison versus the Link Chrono. The Link is 39mm vs the Chrono which is 42.5mm.. The Chrono feels much bulkier and heavier. A comfortable size with a low, well balanced profile. The smooth bezel and case profile helps the watch to easily silde under the shirt cuffs. Fit and finish are top notch. The brushed steel looks very good. AR-coating is not present. Dial printing is very sharp. Date window is well made. The special dial pattern are striking and hard to capture on picture. A stylish watch. The original uses Tag Heuer callibre 7, which as far as i have investigated are based on ETA2892. I wonder why they uses this movement instead of the cheaper and just as good 2836..? The 2892 has a lower profile, but as far as I know the replica are no taller than the gen.. Genuine and replica movement. The genuine picture is from Timezone, and is supposedly an genuine Link with the 2892 based Tag Heuer calibre 7. On the right is Trustys pic of the ETA-2836 movement inside the Link replica. To me it looks like the movement in the gen is also based on the 2836? From what I have digged up, Tag Heuers Calibre 5 is based on the 2824/2836, but this is mainly used in the midsize Tags. Anyway, the 2836 movement fits nicely inside the case of the replica, no ugly plastic spacer. The ETA-movement in this rep gives it a true quality feel. Silent operation and a very smooth feel when you set time and date. The Chrono version might be more Macho.. but the noisy Chineese 7750 does not inspire much confidene. The 7750 also feels a bit cheap when you set the time. The only minor differences I found are the miniature markings on the clasp and endlinks.. For some reason the bracelet of the plain Link misses the laser etched markings. The bracelet on the Chrono version does have these markings.. Strange. But these are really minor details. The Link band is one of the most comfortable metal bracelets around.. The rep band are just as fantastic and on pair with the old Seamaster Professional bracelet! Engravings inside the clasp of the genuine and the replica. Quite close, both in finish and quality. The replica misses the laser-etched engravings. For some reason, the bracelet of the Link Chrono has these.. Replica caseback. Note the missing engravings on the endlinks. Caseback are very well replicated. Deep engravings and laser etched model number and serial number. Of course all watches have the same serial number.. It looks as the model number "WJF2110", which are for black dial version are etched on all models, also my white-dial version. Some genuine examples actually have also the bracelet model number etched on the caseback! [ Genuine caseback and endlink engravings. The wristshot. A very comfortable sports watch. Low on the wrist and a smooth bracelet. Tag Heuer has a long history of fine timepieces. They are probably not very happy for this replica.. In short.. This is the best replica I have seen.. I have become quite hard to impress when it comes to watches, but once in a while there are pleasent surprises.. It is a very good choice for those wanting a subtle stylish everyday watch. Maybe its "humble" looks and relatively low price for the genuine are the reasons for it not to be more popular in the replica community? Most watch geeks rather wants a flashy Planet Ocean, expensive IWC Ingenieur or sexy mechanical chronos as Bentley-Breitling or Link Chronograph Some links about the Link: The Link at TAG Heuers webpage Ebay "Guide to recognize a fake Tag Heuer Link WJF2112" The whole Link model line at Authenticwatches.com. Easier to navigate than the official TH webpage.

There are three extra gears added to the 7750 movement, in order to move the seconds subdial from nine o'clock to six. Not quite as troublesome as the eleven gears added to the Daytona movements with seconds at six, but still a possible source of trouble.. Nontheless, this is a must-have!!
-
Simplicity, balance and style.. Lovely Thanks for the pics.
-
Try this method by ajoesmith for freezing the 6 o'clock subdial... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...&hl=subdial Lykke til!
-
Lovely!! This was unexpected. Now I am happy that I never got the regular Ingenieur... Movement issues aside, this model is my first choice. Details on the dial looks very sharp. The only minor issue I notice is that judging from the pictures it looks as if the dial does not have the cocentric lines on the minute track and subdial tracks?

I think I prefer the PVD-Sub, that TTK was offering some time ago.. or even the Colamariner This reminds me of the bespoilered custom cars from the happy 1980ties.. You could pay silly money to "improve" your car to personal preferences.. Today these cars are considered the pinnacle of bad taste, and prices are rock bottom. The "flatnose" Porsche 911 is a prime example. This conversion was considered to be more aerodynamic than the regular 911, and could actually be carried out by the factory. Too bad it ruined the 911s classic good looks. Just like customizing the classic Submariner.
-
Yep.. I bought Silix' cheapie sub.. The main thing I noticed was that the crown had a line under the logo, not the three dots a triplock crown should have.

That was a serious divers watch.. I was mainly joking in my post, as I find all this special military versions slightly silly. -
I'm Browsing Amazon And Come Across This Blancpain
chrgod replied to section8's topic in General Discussion
I am searching for the legendary Swiss Navy Rolex... Rumours has it that it was released only to a small anti-submarine task force in the 1960ties. A small quantity was also used by the Lichtenstein elite forces. -
Good, right-on review, with excellent pics as usual. For those interested, this is an excellent article from WatchTime. A comparison between the old Aquatimer, Breitling SuperOcean and some obscure Italian divers watch..

Thanks a lot Pugwash! Seems like the mystery of "E 314" might have been solved. This has indeed added lots of sentimental value to my LC!
