  1. I actually like this cheapie Mille Miglia. It might not be 1:1 accurate, but hell of a big nice watch for 108 USD!
  2. Great review! You manage to capture the beauty of the BB. It really is something other than the "usual stuff". You have almost changed my decision of not buying this watch.
  3. By the way... Does anybody know where to buy genuine hands for the TAGHeuer Link Chronograph?I have an ETA7750 with TAGHeuer rotor, which I would like to drop into a watch. I read one post that Ofrei has subdials hands for Omega that seem to be the same as for the Links subdials, but what about the main hands?
  4. Another marvelous review from you, By-Tor. Many thanks, even though it most likely will cost me about 200USD... I have escaped from the PO hype so far. But with this last version coming out, it is time to jump on the train. I was wondering about the differences in caseback and stamped serial numbers on the 4th vs the "Ultimate". The Ultimate version has a S/N on one of the lugs, as the recent SMP Chronograps, but I assume the 4th generation lacks the S/Ns?
  5. I find 39mm an ok size for a dress watch, that could well be a bit subtle. Like the look of the Chopard, but at the same time I think ithe off-centre subdial is design just for designs sake..
  6. Interesting find! :-) The basic TAGHeuers looks nice and understated. Shame that the Carrera model has a display back. I belive the Carrera uses modified ETA2824-2 in the original, designated as TAG Heuer calibre 5.. In my review of the basic Link, you can see the genuine movement. The rotor design is a bit different, but I am sure there have been different versions. Very good looking watch. The Asian model is definently a good buy.
  7. Thank you for another excellent review, By-Tor. Impressive! Seems like we have much similar taste in watches, the Seamaster GMT was one of the first watches that caught me, along with the Seamaster Chrono. Cool, Sporty watch! The GMT-Master looks a bit "old-fashioned" and dull in comparison. Great value for money! Wear it proudly!
  8. Aircraft Mechanic and Junior Officer from the Royal Norwegian Air Force MSc in Petroleum Technology from Norwegian University of Technology and Science "NUTS" But, my most fun and important education is definently from the Timezone School of Wisdom... I am attending it at the moment
  9. Interesting to read your reflections on the X-33. I agree with you that you cannot expect the same level of attention to details as on high-end reps. Probably this replica is model three-four years old. My bezel is pretty thight and good, but the bracelet is cheap. Regarding the analog/ quartz movement: I expected that my battery was flat, since the analog part was dead... But even with a new battery the analog hands were dead.. :-( It has actually died while it was in the drawer.. Anyway, play well!
  10. Whish you a speedy recovery, this forum is not the same without you. Take care! Merry Christmas and a happy new year for you and your family.
  11. Interesting debate... I remember two-three years ago when these forums were realtively small, and you had to pm the sellers to get the price of the watches... Nowadays there are professional webshops, like Andrews and Joshuas, and the forums are actually participating in the development of the replicas!! Times are indeed changing..
  12. Last thing I read over at TRC was "sometime in January". I guess it will come, but have been postphoned for some reason. A very cool watch, with a bulletproof movement, same as in the genuine...
  13. Merry X-mas Gunnar.. I am having Christmas Eve on an Oil Rig offshore Norway... It is 8.20 PM on Christmas Eve and I am on duty in an office container on deck, surfing RWG inbetween my work... Well well, at least I have my genuine leCoultre Master Mariner on my wrist and the Navitimer rep on the desk to cheer me up. All best wishes for you and your family.
  14. I have a Breitling Navitimer rep, the new version, and the bezel is a bit loose, but has a consistent friction when I turn the bezel. Think this is correct. A very good looking rep though! Only shame abot the deep set date on the 3-6-9 versions
  15. I agree with you Bigmouth.. I have never liked the noisy 7750-rotor.. I suppose it is the bearing which makes the noise. The regular ETA-movement sounds much more high-end. Just bought a Daytona 6263 rep with the manual wind Venus 175 movement.. That feels much better than the 7750. It is a pleasure to wind it up each morning.
  16. The SMP Chrono is one of the very best replicas out there... Check out By-Tors Omega reviews and the SMP Chrono review in my signature. The basic Asian 7750 moment should be ok for daily use. Get it serviced if you plan to keep the watch, or use it until it breaks down and then swap it with an ETA 7750.. ( During a movement swap you need to change the hands also) My SMP is still running strong, but it is a very thick watch so it has not become the favourite daily beater as I had expected..
  17. Yes, It seems like I was mislead by the size-information on Silix' page and the fact that it has a regular caseback, not the AMG-style..
  18. A nice collection, with some unusual pieces... I really REALLY like that Targa Florino... The other TAG, Link, is a genuine as well?
  19. Seems like Silix has just got a decent replica of a 40mm Ingenieur.. A nice watch. Just a shame about the date font and that the hands seems to be a tad too short on this Ingenieur rep as well.. On the gen the hands extends all the way to the minute and hour tracks.. Cool design on this Inge as well.. I love that red seconds hand! But I find it a little bit odd that part of the "10" is chopped off, while all other numbers are full. Silix's Genuine
  20. Norway doesn't have a single Panerai store.. I would have to go to Sweden to have a look in a Panerai AD.. I don't think even the big watch stores I visited at Heatrow Airport outside London did carry Panerai .. The Pam-fever is definently a US-thing.. Everything is bigger.. Nice shots, anyway!
  21. If you want a new divers watch from a well known brand, I would go for the Tissot SeaStar, or maybe the T-touch.... Great looking watches. Most non-watch geeks belive Tissot are in the same leauge as Omega. I think you should be able to get a Seastar within your budget. http://www.tissot.ch/?mod_collection/colid_0002/famid_0010 If you have the option to go for vintage, a whole new world opens up... I agree with Crystalcranium suggestion about a Girard-Perregaux, even though the GPs for this money are not very sexy.. I love my vintage Seiko Chronograph from 1974. Big 44mm automatic Chronograph, 30 minutes and 12-hour subregisters and day-date.. These was the pinnacle of mechanical watches, just before the quartz-revolution.. For about 200-250 USD you can choose among the best ( better than mine..) and even have money left for a service! Anyway, check out Timezones sales Corner for good buys!
  22. A beautiful watch, yes.. Looks very solid made! To me the date font are a bigger flaw than the lack of AR, but each man to his own... Guess a change to ETA7750 would cure the date font. Good luck with your new beauty! Guess it will get lot of wrist time during Christmas.
  23. Yep. Interesting interview... Thanks for the effort. I really feel that this community is growing, and getting more "professional" every day.

    Gen Or What?

Mja.. It is possible for the model number to wear off. It is just printed on the sticker, as far as I know. I guess this is the real deal, the crown and guards looks real, and it has black rings around the hour-markers. Very nice model.. White face Explorer II is one of few modern Rollies I like..
  25. Beautiful watch and a cool strap.. But the combination..? The Inge Chrongraph looks very high-tech with its black, angular style in stainless steel... To put in on a soft chocolate leather strap is like Darth Vader should have worn light brown cowboy boots or fur slippers...
