  1. Put it this way... If that watch were a guy in a bar, would you let it buy you a drink? I wouldn't... that thing would give you a STD. lol.
  2. Good call - that's a classy watch! I have a genuine 1603, I've been contemplating a modern (gen) Datejust.
  3. As an upstanding member of this board who's dear Grandmother was recently eaten alive by a Unicorn, I am offended sir! Offended!
  4. Uhhhh.yup. 100%. My gen caseback set me back several hundred dollars. Gen crown and tube, gen T-19...ugh.. Gen Rolex Cal.1520 mvmt, serviced and rebuilt using gen parts...ugh... I mean it's a great watch and all, and the last piece of the puzzle is a really bad-ass insert, but those are super expensive. Seeing what the MillerDave has avaiable.. I suppose my freak of a 5513 is probably as gen-close as you'd get, but it's still not perfect. The dial lettering, while perfect, is flat and kind of depressing. I would also say it depends on what you're building or want it to look like. Not to hijack - but here's mine - this watch if sold as genuine would fetch about $14,000 to $16,000 right now. (I have box & papers too) so having spent like $3500 bucks to build it isn't too bad considering it's almost all genuine.
  5. Here's my gilt 5513 - remember if it's gilt, it's likely a PCG, right? I have gen steel hands on mine as I age the gold ones. They were waaaaaaaaaaay too bright.
  6. I didn't think it had crown guards? I still have drill-bits and I am decent at drilling out lugs now!
  7. I will partake...this is a terrific piece.
  8. You know what? I think you're right. I am going to use the aforementioned HS01 and redo the insert, get some great hands, and proceed with the HR custom dial ...
  9. Seeing people build these things makes me happy! I love watching the process.
  10. Car matches watch! Rock on! Some seriously nice pieces here gents - love them all. Here's my meager contribution
  11. Try to find DBane's work posted on here. He did my PCG's and they're perfect. Pictures of his work or Beachcomber's 5513 will be a good reference point.
  12. I've bought from them a couple of times, exemplary rep's and service. He's a good dude.
  13. My biggest problem with HR's bond case for example, is how far the crown tube juts out. Does anyone know of a good fix for this? I do have an extra Athaya 8mm Brevet crown and tube hanging around, maybe that'll help.
  14. CNC Milling on 2-axis at the least. You could do it with a quality lapper/shaper/grinder but you'd need to be very precise with your work to make that angle notch not look wonky.
  15. There are a lot of build threads on here you can pull answers to your questions from as well - including mine.
  16. Hi all, I'm debating using this thing to start my build with the dial: http://www.pf-818.com/rspx00008-heritage-hs01-ssss-black-swiss-28363131-p-15775.html Noticed a big problem in a QC pic - the bezel pip where the pearl sits, can clearly be seen. Maybe some nice thick enamel paint?
  17. Does anyone want to buy my bridge? It's genuine! Thanks Legend, we have to all look out for each other. If you smell something, say something!
  18. He has my file for 200/660 and will be able to do the work as needed - yes just specify what you want, make sure you tell him where feet need to go.
  19. I know that Helenarou (whoever he is) can do both a 26mm and 29mm dial. If you supply the dial plate he's all the happier.
  20. I think he means the 4030 conversion from the Zenith column wheel design maybe? Idk That is a gorgeous watch, I've really been wanting a proper Daytona franken
  21. I just passed on it haha I was considering getting it for my 5513 but I spent so much time on the casework, and Dbane's work - I couldn't get rid of it. Glad it went to Beachcomber!
