  1. That is some bad luck. But unfortunately not uncommon with reps. If you know where these watches come from you will understand that they are assembled under different circumstances than genuine watches. Poor QC to speed up the production and cut costs. If you take a look at my signature you will see how some movements look when they come straight from the factory. Like MD pointed out sometimes completely over oiled but most of the times dirty and dry. Without disassembly impossible to tell. You could send the watch back to Josh but I would advice you to have a local repair guy look at it. As it could be a very small issue like mentioned earlier. That doesn't way up to the hassle and cost of shipping a watch back and forth to China. Or if you decide to keep it you could consider combining it with a service. MD or I could help you out depending on where you are in the world.

    So don't de disappointed in reps because with some extra care they will perform on par with a genuine for a fraction of the cost.

  2. Well with these these cheap Chinese movements nothing is an 'easy' fix. As others have mentioned you are better off just trying to live with it. You could install a new movement as they are cheaper than a repair job but they will still set you back around $15-$25. Add shipping and the labour costs of a watchmaker and you are better off buying a whole new watch. You could keep the old one for parts or sell it to recover some of the investment.

  3. I know the is a V2 of the XVI and the XVII are great. Good AR and sturdy movement after service. I would opt for chrgod's watch if you have the opportunity because servicing a movement is almost a must these days when I see the quality that is comming from the factories lately.

  4. All has been said. He f@cked up the keyless works. In order to reset it the dial and hands have to come off. He eighter has no clue what he is doing or just don't want to go to all the trouble. If I were you I would take this as a big sign on the wall an take my watch and run. Big chance he wil scratch the dial or hands in a silly attempt.

  5. The stem didn't came out of the movement. The mentioned spring incicates a faulty or broken crown clutch. The stem is still in the movement (that's the screw thread you see). It can not be repaired and you need to source a new crown. Or as an alternative remove the clutch mechanism and shorten the stem. The spring mechanism will be lost. This as to be done very carefully to ensure water resistance.

    Miagi made a really good point. Hike and I go back all the way to RWG I and he is a stand up guy. Maybe just a bad call of judgement. For gods sake we all make some from time to time. I told a member to F off yesterday after he made a dozen of enquieies about servicing a watch and than never had the decency to reply back. We talked about it and I appologized. We are all humans and have different stuff going on in our lives, besides this board. We sometimes tend to forget. Mutual understanding is mandatory for a good sales transaction. That also applies to Hike.

    As long as I can remember the golden rule with each sale thread is " full disclosure" and those two scratches are worth mentioning in a sales post (if they were there). Period. So from a noob perspective I can fully understand Amanamon that if the 'mood' of a seller changes you get a bad feeling about sending a watch back. Costing you extra shipping and risking not getting your money back.

    There is no doubt in my mind this will get resolved soon.
