  1. Did I miss the pics?!?
  2. Ebay item 150276660856 if you haven't already seen it. No clue on the hand stacking, though.
  3. What about tossing the entire movement and transplanting a 2893-GMT? It wouldn't save much money vs buying a new watch, but it would be an upgrade/improvement.
  4. FWIW, (and I realize probably not much to some ) I could not possibly agree more with this stance. Furthermore, the RWG Admin team, IMO, has gone above in beyond in many cases to make sure fraudulence is dealt with in kind and to make sure it is inhibited to greatest extent possible going forward. So after that, whatever happens between dealers is best handled by individual buyers, who have the ability (and responsibility) to give their hard earned money only to those whose business practices and service pass muster.
  5. You can contact Chuck Maddox (http://chuckmaddoxwatch.blogspot.com/) to get the name of an AD which will provide 20-25% off retail price with full papers and warranty.
  6. Heh. In all seriousness, though, having lived in California my entire life, through Loma Prieta in '89 only a few short miles from the epicenter, I'd still gladly take earthquakes over tornadoes and hurricanes any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Yes, seismologists have no clue when the next big one is coming, whereas tornadoes and hurricames come with fair warning.... but when they come, they COME!! The Loma Prieta quake in '89 was one of the most severe ever in California and it killed 62 people, most in a freeway collapse. By contrast, Hurricane Katrina claimed 1800+ lives in '05.
  7. I think it looks fantastic (of course). Too much bling? Not at all, even with a flashier jubilee. I'm definitely in need is knowing more about the date disc too, so will be staying tuned. PS Will receiving the jubilee mean you no longer need the oyster?
  8. Wow, one year to the day! Yea I took it to mean salt, but ended up using some sort of detergent with bleach additive. It worked nicely.
  9. B - when you say LA do you mean LA proper? And is there time for a mini-GTG before you go?
  10. Jake48 - I'm flying out this evening, but next time you're on!
  11. If it is any consolation, Stephane, at least it's not Panerai you're dealing with... Your story is a walk in the park compared to many I've read on 'risti.
  12. I was in the heart of the quake zone in '89 also (it measured 7.0 where I was), and on the 10th floor of a building built on seismic rollers. This means the building is designed to rock side to side rather than resist rocking, as a fixed foundation would do. Of course I learned all this after the fact and was sure the building was coming down in the moment.... It was and still is the one time in my life where I thought - no I knew - I was going to die. Gotta love being wrong from time to time...
  13. I'm in Irvine today and it was very mild. A couple seconds of shaking is all.
  14. Great news, R, and major cudos too!
  15. Rob, wow, take it easy and see a eye specialist if you haven't already. Let us know how you're doing and best wishes, of course!!
  16. By submariner, I assume you mean a rep case. You can consider the ST-25 a 2892 from a size perspective. From what I've read here on RWG (and you can search the archives to confirm), those who have done 2824 -> 2892 swaps in the past have done so with success, and without needing specialized spacers to get crown stems to line up. I guess the only question would be whether or not the canon pin, hour wheel, etc on the ST-25 that you'd receive would be of the correct height to provide adequate clearance over the dial since dial thickness vary. For ETA, there are usually 3 or more options there. For Seagul, I have no idea how many there are or how easy they are to obtain.
  17. Thanks and let me bring you up to speed.... It's actually a fairly poorly done shot on my part with those [accidental] reflections... It was taken outdoors with florescent lighting diffuser material to cut down on the sun light. The CG reflection is a plant in my backyard, and the cyclops reflection is a book end that the diffuser is clamped to in order to make it stand upright. The background is a Kodak gray card and the black substrate is a shirt! LOL I could have PSed the reflections out, but never got around to it. Just some quick curves, levels and sharpening.
  18. Indeed. Or probably because the rep watch forums don't discuss rep shoes?
  19. Good stuff. I came across this guy about 3 months ago and forgot to post it. It's an absolutely tremendous project that one can only imagine the amount of trial and error and perserverance it took to see through to completion.
  20. Pulled out the ole franken-16610 this morning.......
  21. It's extremely mediocre. Interestingly the coating on the exterior surface is different than the coating on the interior surface. The exterior coating is much lighter, and also more strip resistant than the interior coating. I've stripped and redone quite a few 3717s, and the difference is big. However rep AR has definitely improved since we first started seeing it.
  22. In fairness to Jay, he was probably fooled by the fake movement himself...
  23. Right. It should fit.
  24. It's slow right now, and appears to be due to a router or network somewhere in Amsterdam. traceroutes from Germany, and the UK (as well as here in the US) get caught up at or right after the internetserviceteam.com hop: Here's my traceroute snippet at Sun Jul 27 23:00:44 PDT 2008 ... . . .
  25. Your heart is in the right place but it's highly doubtful that the douche bag is for real... This sounds like a somewhat half assed troll's piece of fiction to me.
