  1. Thanks, Zig. *sigh* Just when I thought I was done with this watch.... Oh well, I guess this one will be heading up North soon, then.
  2. Hello, I have a recently serviced (with in the past year) 2824 that is not staying wound. I have verified that the rotor is properly engaged and that there is nothing obstructing it with the case back removed. However I have noted a couple peculiarities: 1. The rotor doesn't seem to spin as freely as on my other watches. Gravity doesn't always seem to pull it around when I move the watch and observe the rotor with the case back removed. 2. Manual winding has alot of resistance. It is very difficult to manually wind this watch. Any thoughts from the experts? Thanks in advance. -Chief
  3. I may be coming to NY this summer to go to a few Yankees games before they demolish a sacred and legendary monument, and would like to go to lunch with you, W. And I am sure I will LOVE whatever it is that happens to be on your wrist at the time.
  4. The old case is also much heavier than the new one... The new case must be made from a cheaper alloy of some sort and almost feels as light as Titanium would. The old case Daylights were nearly perfect.
  5. Yea, single AR in no way shape or form holds a candle to double AR, but it's accurate for PAMs, so that's the route we went. I did the same thing to my 196.
  6. One of the best reps ever, period. I'll never part with mine. You're very lucky to have obtained this piece, and coming from W makes it all the more sweet. Enjoy!
  7. Great idea... If I wore rings I'd definitely be in for one, but I've just never been able to.
  8. I've been notified that the swap to ETA 7750 is complete, along with dial relume and that this beauty is heading back from Canada as I type. The Zigmeister removed the 3,6,9,12 markers and relumed the area where they were mounted. After flattening out the top of the applied lume, he says the new markers are about 1/2 the thickness of the original rep markers.... Perfect!!! Can't wait to see this!
  9. Very impressive project, especially the customized movement holder!
  10. LOL Thanks for reminding me it was Apr 1, and here's to hoping they keep things serious at the airports today!
  11. A fantastic post which never got the recognition it deserved!!!
  12. Wow, that looks like good times! I have always wondered if the waiters are thinking "Who are these watch nerds" or "Damn, check out all these awesome watches!" Northern Cali get together anyone? (I don't have time to organize)
  13. End Result: Gorgeous!!!
  14. And it's actually better that it's light AR. The new trend in rep AR seems to be a strong blue tint like what they're starting to put on new 3717s and Ingys, which is even more unrealistic than your light AR! Dave123 is right about the blue being too strong!!
  15. No I think the Special Edition does have a coating on it... I agree that it's worthless and invisible, but if you don't strip it prior recoating then the results are bad. The AR in the Racing Edition doesn't really impress me, personally. I think the SOSF AR is better and is still the best rep AR I've seen.
  16. Impressive! Thanks!!
  17. @magagne - Good to know what I have to look forward to!!! Mine is undergoing the ETA 7750 swap and relume by The Zigmeister right now..... I can't wait. Congrats!
  18. Is the PO using standard ETA date font or does it have an overlay?
  19. Another fine 16610!! Those are Clark hands? Seriously?? I'm gonna get a set of those for mine in that case....
  20. The shape of the 4 in the 40 indicates it is not modern, or at least not the newest version. It could be from a modern sub with lug holes. It could be a 16800. It could even be a Seadweller insert and not a sub insert. Note the style of the 4 on my gen 16610 insert with lug holes: Note the style of the 4 on the newer 16610 insert (don't be thrown off by the part number - this IS for a 16610):
  21. Excellent and I can't wait to see pics of all these "new" watches without crystals!
  22. Wearing this today. I get hot and cold with Rolex but the last couple weeks have been hot. Will be away for the weekend, and will probably bring the fully modded PAM 63 with me on the road trip.
  23. What is going on in here?! Welcome to the board, Jo.
  24. LOL. Well, I suspect that watch (along with perhaps a couple Cartiers) is quite popular in the purse carrying knight crowd.
