  1. Hello and welcome to the community. We always recommend using TDs for that and other reasons. We insist the pictures are of the actual rep, lots of sites online use pictures of the genuine watch, and one has no idea what they will actually send, if anything. In case it crosses your mind, no we don’t get any commission or anything else from the dealers? https://rwg.cc/forum/230-watches-clothing-parts-accessories/ Always use a link from the forums to dealers sites, rather than using google. All too frequent scammers create sites that look like known dealers, but in fact have nothing to do with our dealers. If in doubt as, either Mods by PM or make a post asking confirmation . When it arrives, show us pictures. We love pictures
  2. ARF is a Factory. Any of the TDs can get you one. I saw it here:- https://puretime03.com/sea-dweller-2017-baselworld-126600-arf-1-1-best-edition-904l-ss-case-and-bracelet-a2824.html I like the SEL on this picture, it looks promising Two things I don’t like are the price and the hands, which are too short. Another Irish member?
  3. Have a great time guys and post lots of pictures. There really should be more get togethers. It’s great to actually get to know each other. Oh and it is the Official launch and send off of the travelling watch
  4. It wouldn’t be a fun, time consuming, money pit of an obsession if it was easy now, would it?
  5. I wouldn’t buy the ARF as it is currently. It’s a lot of money for a watch that has issues. hmmm, 2824 vs 2836, well if you are talking Swiss original which we are not, then 2836 is generally thought to be slightly better from a technical point of view. Real world, not much difference. However the 2824 has a crown position nearer to the Rolex position, the 2836 is a little low. Again, we are real picky, like who notices these things but us. The bezel, at the moment nobody knows if they will swap, because nobody has tried. It might or might not be a straight swap. 904L steel isn’t something I give a hoot about. Some claim to be able to tell 904L from 316 by sight. I certainly think there is a very, very slight difference if the watches are side by side in exactly the same lighting conditions. How slight? Well when Rolex first started using 904L, they made the watch case 904L and the bracelets 316, enough said. Also a few people have allergy issues with 904L. I guess it’s nice to have if the claims are genuine, but I’m not bothered and would rather have other details correct. I think for the model in question you have chosen the more sensible option available at the moment.
  6. The Speedmaster is even worse? wrong sub dial spacing. Read this:- Then decide how far down the rabbit hole you want to go my friend
  7. Well at least the minute hand is the right length. The new ARF looks good, but they have used hands probably from a 40mm rep, that are too short. No rep is ever totally free from faults if you look hard enough, but at $458, we shouldn’t have to play the old game of buying from two different factories and mixing and matching parts. Let’s hope ARF V2 comes out soon with the correct hands I feel better for getting that rant off my chest? Picky, picky stuff. I think the date font is too thick, which is a BP tradition. The font on the bezel is too thin and slightly the wrong colour, the Rolex crown seems a tiny bit vertically compressed, and the Seadweller text isn’t bright enough. All this looks bad at x300 magnification, at normal size on your wrist, nobody is going to call you out in the street. Enjoy your watch it’s fine, my recent experiments have shown most people can’t tell an $8000 gen from a very poor $20 fake, if they can they are probably a member here
  8. That is exactly what I was thinking. Lots of reps only really spoilt by having too low a crown
  9. I will have a look at that, to be honest I’m looking for a two line gilt an not too aged.
  10. Wholeheartedly agree, except we don’t much have a pecking order and if we did it would be the Mods at the bottom as the servants of the membership.
  11. Yes I saw that thread, (and saw you over there?) it seems puzzling as I know at least a couple of guys here have had good experiences. These Vietnamese dial sellers seem to come and go rather fast, it would be nice to have a reliable ongoing supply
  12. If I needed to know about a potential high end gen purchase I would trust our guys more than any of the self important experts on the gen forums. In fact apart from our guys, I would only trust someone who backed their statements up with a written guarantee
  13. Around $300 be aware that the sub dial at six is fake on this model. It might be a good idea to do some reading on Daytona reps and think about what you are willing to pay and what your expectations are. The Silex you posted isn’t a very good rep, but then it is very cheap. At the other end you can end up buying a high priced rep and modifying it with aftermarket and genuine parts to get what you want. In the end only thing it has to do is please you. I have done both. I have a Submariner rep that I have put a lot of money and I have a Submariner 16610 that I bought from a none TD for $25. Compared to a Noob or JF it is dreadful, to make matters even worst it’s Quartz and obviously fake as the second hand jumps once a second instead of sweeping. Naturally I love my high end rep, but I really like this cheap POS as well, it’s fun, it’s not serious and the fact that it is totally unconvincing to a WIS amuses me, especially as it still gets mistaken as genuine most of the time. My girlfriend can’t tell it apart from my better version, but then she can’t tell my 5510 from my 116610 either
  14. Three on eBay at the moment http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OMEGA-CAL-332-GENTS-VINTAGE-BUMPER-HAMMER-AUTOMATIC-WATCH-MOVEMENT-SPARES-W49-/162251343357?hash=item25c6ef05fd:g:SawAAOSwUEVYDOq7
  15. As a lover of vintage Omega I am horrified by that middle paragraph? You might see me on all manner of watch forums. I pretty much sign up to every one I find, but this has always been home
  16. Definitely the best option, treasure it, I think they will become part of rep history. And don’t forget to show us a build thread ?
  17. No you are correct a 2783 sadly isn’t a direct swap for a 28xx, been there, done that. All one can do is do what I started doing a couple of years back and keep a notebook with any useful data one finds online or discovers for oneself, and correct any errors as they are discovered. That and belong on this great forum and share information with others? Also worth a look
  18. My guess would be a DG2813 with GMT module, the feet are about where you describe them and it is a likely candidate for a Rolex GMT rep anyway Useful link:- http://forums.watchuseek.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=7218586&d=1456501729 A movement upgrade would require a new dial or dial feet of dial dots as well as new hands. Even an ETA uses a Chinese GMT module, so I don’t think it is worth the agro personally
  19. Yep, it’s already been done, you’re right at the end of the list alright. You cant destroy this Watch once it’s been round the world and seen so many fine members. It already has a place of honour waiting for it in the trophy cabinet. Right at the champagne fountain, past the bear skin rug, once you reach the humidor it’s the fancy mahogany cabinet just to the left with the glass shelves and led downlighting. You should remember it, you put the last of Ken’s left nuts in there for posterity
  20. In the same way you might accidentally fall off the Kamchatka Peninsula?
  21. You, me and yllekp a mod with RWI, I don’t know any others
  22. No way is this beauty going to the Alaskan Modder from hell! We need a firm undertaking it will return in the same condition it arrives
  23. Funny, that name is coming up on another thread as a really great TD. I already had my Irish GTG, I was 100% there, so a great turn out. We should do more GTGs
  24. Hello, welcome back, it’s good to know there are other members in Ireland
  25. I haven’t worn this watch in at least a year, my 5508 is Daddy’s favourite and the others don’t get too much of a look in. I picked it up this morning and I’m quite enjoying the change
